Beveren-aan-de-IJzer

Stavele is a village in the Belgian province of West Flanders and is a submunicipality of Alveringem along the Yser. It was an independent municipality until 1970. It covers an area of 1,263 ha (3,120 acres) and had 825 inhabitants in 1970.

Roesbrugge is a small rural village in the Belgian province of West Flanders. Roesbrugge is the larger of two villages that make up the "deelgemeente" Roesbrugge-Haringe in the municipality of Poperinge. Roesbrugge is located in the northwestern part of Poperinge and in the northern part of Roesbrugge-Haringe. The town center is located along the Yser river. An old branch of this river, the Dode IJzer (Dead Yser) makes up the northern border of the town center. The built-up area extends across the Dode IJzer into the hamlet Beveren-Kalsijde, a settlement on the territory of Beveren-aan-de-IJzer in the municipality of Alveringem. The small village of Haringe is located one kilometer to the southwest of Roesbrugge; both make up the deelgemeente Roesbrugge-Haringe. The Catholic church and parish of Roesbrugge are named after Saint Martin. The church was built between 1806 and 1837.

Roesbrugge-Haringe is a place in the Belgian province of West Flanders. It is a part of the municipality (a deelgemeente) of Poperinge. Roesbrugge-Haringe consists of two small rural villages, Roesbrugge and Haringe, located in the north western region of Poperinge. Roesbrugge, the largest of both villages, is located along the Yser river. Haringe is located one kilometer to the south west of Roesbrugge, close to the French border.

Leisele is a small Belgian town in Alveringem near the French border with about 750 inhabitants.

Proven is a rural village in the Belgian province of West Flanders, and a "deelgemeente" of the municipality Poperinge. The village has about 1400 inhabitants. The church and parish of Proven are named after Saint Victor. The Saint Victor Church was rebuilt in 1806, after the late Gothic church from the early 17th century burnt down in 1802. In popular speech, the tower is called "peperbus" (pepper shaker).

However, the three Belgian coast municipalities of De Panne, Koksijde, and Nieuwpoort are frequently considered a separate region known as the Belgian or Flemish West Coast (Westkust). French Westhoek (French: Westhoek français; Dutch: Franse Westhoek), roughly the arrondissement of Dunkirk, including the cities of Dunkirk, Gravelines, and Hazebrouck, itself part of a larger area known as French Flanders. Outside Dutch-language sources, Westhoek sometimes refers only to French Westhoek.

Izenberge is a Belgian village in the province of West Flanders. Since a fusion in the seventies it belongs now to the larger agglomeration of Alveringem. It's the home of the open-air museum Bachten De Kupe and a local museum of curiosities. Besides a picturesque Romanesque church, it also has a very beautiful baroque chapel, which is still a place of pilgrimage. Events: in August there is the annual funfair with a flea market (15 August).

Hoogstade is a village in the municipality of Alveringem in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The village is located on the N8. Until 1971, Hoogstade was an independent municipality.

Hondschoote (French pronunciation: [ɔ̃(t)skɔt]; from Dutch; Hondschote in the modern Dutch spelling) is a commune of the Nord département, in northern France.

The Battle of Hondschoote took place during the Flanders Campaign of the Campaign of 1793 in the French Revolutionary Wars. It was fought during operations surrounding the siege of Dunkirk between 6 and 8 September 1793 at Hondschoote, Nord, France, and resulted in a French victory under General Jean Nicolas Houchard and General Jean-Baptiste Jourdan against the command of Marshal Freytag, part of the Anglo-Hanoverian corps of the Duke of York.

Watou is a village in the Belgian province of West Flanders and a district of the town of Poperinge. The village has a population of 1,900. It lies on the border with France. The hamlet Abele is part of Watou. Poperinge is situated on the border with the hamlet of Sint-Jan-ter-Biezen.
