Miribel station

Miribel (French pronunciation: [miʁibɛl] ) is a commune in the Ain department in eastern France. It is a northeastern suburb of Lyon. There are two railway stations in the commune: Miribel station for trains to Lyon, Ambérieu and Chambéry, and Les Échets station for trains to Lyon and Bourg-en-Bresse.

The canton of Miribel is an administrative division in eastern France. At the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015, the canton was expanded from 5 to 8 communes: Beynost La Boisse Miribel Neyron Niévroz Saint-Maurice-de-Beynost Thil Tramoyes

The Communauté de communes de Miribel et du Plateau is a communauté de communes in the Ain département and in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes région of France. It was established on 31 December 1997. Its area is 65.6 km2, and its population was 24,062 in 2018.

Saint-Maurice-de-Beynost (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃ mɔʁis də beno] ; literally "Saint-Maurice of Beynost") is a commune in the Ain department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, located at about 15 km (9 mi) from Lyon. The commune is included in the canton of Miribel and in the intercommunality of communauté de communes de Miribel et du Plateau. A small farming village at the beginning of the 20th century, the commune of Saint-Maurice-de-Beynost became an industrial town in the 1920s, following the construction of the second textile factory of the "Lyon Society of Artificial Silk". The need for workers in this factory led to a quadrupling of the population in just five years, between 1926 and 1931. Today, the factory, which belongs to the Japanese group Toray Industries, is still the main employer in the city with nearly five hundred employees. The inhabitants of Saint-Maurice-de-Beynost are called Mauriciens.

The Grand parc de Miribel-Jonage is an urban park covering almost 2,200 hectares on the outskirts of Lyon. It covers most of the Island of Miribel-Jonage on the Rhône. This island was created in the 19th century with the digging of the Miribel and Jonage canals to help control the flooding of the Rhône. The park is a recreational area for the inhabitants of Greater Lyon, and also includes wildlife protection zones for fauna and flora. The park provides two other functions: to be the backup drinking water resource of Lyon, and it provides a buffer flood zone in case of the Rhône flooding.

Neyron (French pronunciation: [neʁɔ̃] (listen)) is a commune in the Ain department in eastern France.

Tramoyes (French pronunciation: [tʁamwa] ; Arpitan: Tramôye) is a commune in the Ain department in eastern France.

The Fort de Vancia is a former military installation built between 1872 and 1878 in the municipalities of Sathonay-Village and Rillieux-la-Pape, north of Lyon. It is part of the second belt Lyon and more generally the system Sere de Rivieres. This belt of forts included the forts of Bron, Vancia itself, Feyzin and Mont Verdun.

Beynost (French pronunciation: [beno] ) is a commune in the Ain department, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in eastern France. The commune is approximately 15 km from Lyon, and part of the unité urbaine de Lyon. Historically, Beynost is also part of the naturally forming region of Côtière. Beynost station has rail connections to Lyon, Ambérieu-en-Bugey and Chambéry.

The École nationale des travaux publics de l'État or ENTPE (English: National School of Public Works of the State) is an engineering school part of the French Grandes Écoles founded in 1954 in Paris by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and located since 1976 in Lyon Metropolitan Area (Vaulx-en-Velin). The main vocation of ENTPE is to train engineers who will serve as technical managers within the French civil service into the State Public Works Engineering Corps or "Ingénieurs des Travaux Publics de l'Etat (ITPE)", even though nowadays half of the students are intended for the private sector, in particular in large French companies in the construction or transport sectors (Eiffage, Bouygues, Vinci, Keolis ...).

On 16 December 2022, a fire ravaged a residential building at 12 chemin des Barques in Vaulx-en-Velin, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. It resulted in killing 10 people, including five children, and injured 14.

Vaulx-en-Velin (French pronunciation: [vo ɑ̃ v(ə)lɛ̃] (listen)) is a commune in the Metropolis of Lyon, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, eastern France. It is the third-largest suburb of the city of Lyon, and is located to its northeast, on the river Rhône.
