Amersham is a London Underground station in Amersham in the Chiltern district of Buckinghamshire, England which is also used by National Rail services. Amersham station is a terminus of the London Underground's Metropolitan line. It is 23.7 miles (38.1 km) northwest of Charing Cross, making it the second furthest Underground station from central London and the second most westerly station of the whole London Underground system, after Chesham. It is in Travelcard Zone 9 (previously zone D). The station has the highest elevation on the entire London Underground network at 147m above sea-level, higher than Big Ben tower.Amersham station is also served by Chiltern Railways, which runs trains between London Marylebone and Aylesbury. From Aylesbury a shuttle service to Princes Risborough provides access to through services between Marylebone and Birmingham Snow Hill. The journey times between Amersham and Central London range between 33 and 60 minutes. The journey time between Amersham and Chalfont & Latimer is about three and a half minutes.

Dr Challoner's Grammar School (also known as DCGS, Challoner's Boys or simply Challoner's) is a selective grammar school for boys, with a co-educational Sixth Form, in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, England. It was given academy status in January 2011. It was founded in 1624 in accordance with the last will and testament of Robert Chaloner. Chaloner, a Doctor of Divinity, was Rector of Amersham from 1576 to his death in 1621. He was also a Canon of St George's Chapel, Windsor from 1584.

The Quiet Garden Trust is a non-profit organisation which encourages the provision of gardens where people can set aside time for contemplation, prayer and renewal. The opening of Quiet Gardens is controlled by the respective owners, and the trust plays a co-ordinating and resourcing role. Amersham ( AM-ər-shəm) is a market town and civil parish in Buckinghamshire, England, in the Chiltern Hills, 27 miles (43 km) northwest of central London, 15 miles (24 km) south-east of Aylesbury and 9 miles (14 km) north-east of High Wycombe. Amersham is part of the London commuter belt. Amersham Hall was a "school for the sons of dignified gentlemen" in England. From 1829 to 1861 it was in Elmodesham House in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, relocating in 1861 to Caversham in Oxfordshire. The Caversham site, a suburb in the north of Reading and now in Berkshire, currently houses Queen Anne's School. Charles West, the son of the founder, and one of the pupils for whom the school was founded, went on to be arguably the first paediatrician in the United Kingdom, and to found Gt Ormond St Hospital for Sick Children The Reverend Ebenezer West, principal of Amersham Hall, funded most of the construction of the West Memorial Hall in Caversham, as well as the Caversham Baptist Free Church a decade later. The memorial hall was extended in 1911 to provide rooms for "wholesome recreation and moral improvement for the young men of Caversham", increasing the space available for religious educations on Sundays (in connection with the Caversham Free Church).The school closed in 1896 following an outbreak of Scarlet Fever.

Amersham Museum at 49 and 51 High Street is a small local museum based in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, England. It is located on the High Street in Old Amersham. The museum is partly located in a 15th-century half-timbered house, listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England, with a herb garden to the rear, and covers local history. It has collections of fossils and archaeological finds, including objects from Roman and mediaeval times, and displays on local crafts including chairmaking, lace making and straw plait. It originally opened to the public in 1991. In 1993 the museum won a National Heritage Award. In 2001 it was extended at the front of the museum, and in 2005 it employed its first professional curator. In 2017 the Museum re-opened following a major development that included expansion into the neighbouring property at 51 High Street, a former post office. This enabled the museum to create a new introductory exhibition gallery, combined activity and temporary exhibition space, two collections stores, indoor adapted WC and lift. The museum also gained a modern glass reception and shop.The museum is open from 12noon to 4.30pm from Wednesdays to Sundays plus Bank Holiday Mondays. The Amersham Meeting house is a Friends meeting house (a Quaker place of worship) on Whielden Road in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. It is listed Grade II* on the National Heritage List for England. The meeting for worship is held on Sundays at 11 am.The meeting house forms part of an extension to the adjoining cottage, Whielden Cottage, which was built c. 1600. The cottage was extended in 1689 to serve as a Quaker meeting house for the Quakers who had begun to meet in Amersham from the 1660s. The Amersham Quakers received a letter from the noted early Quaker Isaac Penington in 1667.It was extended and refronted in red brick in the late 18th century. The meeting room is divided into two by a wooden screen with shutters.
