The Battle of Goa refers to a series of naval engagements between the Portuguese Armada and the Dutch East India Company fleets attempting to blockade and conquer the city of Goa. In 1638, forces commanded by the Viceroy of Portuguese India, D. Pedro da Silva and later António Teles de Meneses, fought off a large Dutch fleet sent to block the port colony of Goa, commanded by Admiral Adam Westerwolt, who was badly defeated at this encounter. The next year 1639, the Dutch Admiral Cornelis Simonsz van der Veere would conduct a new raid on Goa's port.

Bastora is a village in North Goa, India. It is located on the outskirts of Mapusa town. Green and still scenic, this is one of the many communities and villages that makes up mainly-rural, but fast-urbanising Goa.

Mapusa Municipal Market (also known as Mapusa Market and Mapusa Friday Market) is a traditional market in Mapusa, North Goa and a major tourist attraction. It was built in 1960, the first planned market in Goa. The market has three blocks with 164 shops, some of which have been sub-divided, so bringing the total to 173. It is open every day, except Sunday; and is particularly popular on Friday mornings.

Bardez (Konkani: Bardes; Portuguese: Bardes; IPA: /'baːɾdeːs/) is a taluka of the North Goa district in the Indian state of Goa. It was a concelho in the Portuguese State of India before 1961.

St. Jerome Church is a parish of the Catholic Church in Mapusa, Goa, India, in the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman. It is dedicated to the Church Father St. Jerome. The church also holds the shrine of Our Lady of Miracles and the feast day of Miracles is thronged by thousands of devotees every year.

Teotonio Francisco Paulo Pereira (18 March 1930 – 16 February 2022) was an Indian politician, social activist, freedom fighter, musician, orator and businessperson from Goa. He was a former member of the Goa Legislative Assembly, representing the St. Andre Assembly constituency from 1963 to 1977 and 1980 to 1984.

Punola is a small village or hamlet in the North Goa sub-district or taluka of Bardez. It is near the village panchayat of Ucassaim, and St. Elizabeth's Church lies just outsides its boundaries.

Guirim is a census town in North Goa district in the Indian state of Goa. For administrative purposes, however, it is considered to be a village, and has a village panchayat, which is the local administration of a village in parts of India. Guirim is located on the outskirts of the North Goa main commercial town of Mapusa (also spelt as Mapsa or Mapuca). It is the last village along the Panjim-Mapuca highway that one encounters prior to reaching Mapuca.

Hanuman Natya Graha is a prominent theatre centre, which hosts plays primarily in the Konkani and Marathi languages, in the North Goa commercial town of Mapusa.

St. Mary's Convent High School is a school for girls in the North Goa town of Mapusa, India.

Canca is a village in the North Goa taluka (sub-district) of Bardez.

St. Britto High School, Mapusa. commonly known as St. Britto or St. Britto's, is a private Catholic primary and secondary school for boys located in Mapusa, Goa, on the west coast of India. It was founded in 1946 and is run by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). It is all-boys and includes grades one through ten. In 2017 all 142 graduates passed the secondary exam.
