The Montreal Symphony House (French: Maison symphonique de Montréal) is a concert hall in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The Montreal Symphony House is located at the corner of de Maisonneuve Boulevard West and Saint Urbain Street, on the northeastern esplanade of Place des Arts in the Quartier des Spectacles.Construction began in May 2009 and the concert hall was inaugurated September 7, 2011. Initial plans were to name the 1,900-seat venue "Adresse symphonique", however the Quebec government announced on opening day that the hall would be the "Maison symphonique". The hall is home to the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Metropolitan Orchestra, I Musici de Montreal, Les Violons du Roy and other classical music ensembles. On May 24, 2014, the hall inaugurated a $4,000,000 organ (op.3900) by Casavant Frères. The four manual, 83 rank work contains 6,489 pipes. The instrument was a gift of Jacqueline Desmarais in memory of her husband, financier Paul Desmarais.In 2014, SNC-Lavalin sold its concession rights in a deal worth some $77.6 million. SNC will continue to operate and maintain services for the owner, IA Financial Group, until 2038.

St. John the Evangelist is a parish of the Anglican Diocese of Montreal in the Anglican Church of Canada in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, founded by Father Edmund Wood in 1861; its church is well known in Montreal as the "Red Roof Church", which is also the headquarters of St. Michael's Mission. Its orientation is Anglo-Catholic, and it is the only Anglican locale in Montreal to practise this tradition, known as High Church. Solemn High Mass is celebrated on Sundays and feast days and Solemn Evensong and Benediction several Sundays a year. Mass is said daily, in French on Tuesdays. The parish of Saint-Benoît-de-Nursie, a French-language congregation of the Orthodox Church in America, worships in the Chapel of Our Lady of Walsingham in the church's crypt. The church is part of the Conseil du Patrimoine religieux du Québec.The building has starred alongside Nick Nolte in the film Affliction, and in the Quebec science-fiction television series 'Dans une galaxie près de chez vous'. The building is located in downtown Montreal, nested within Université du Québec à Montréal buildings, and Quartier des Spectacles, at 137 President Kennedy Avenue, Montreal, Quebec, H2X 3P6

The Canadian Opera Hall of Fame is a hall of fame recognizing individuals who have played a role in the development of opera music in Canada. The first honorees were inducted in 1991. Honorees include Clarice Carson and Irving Guttman. The Hall of Fame is directed by L'Opéra de Montréal.

Saint Urbain Street (French: rue Saint-Urbain) is a major one-way street located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The original, southernmost section of the street was built by Urbain Tessier (c. 1624–1689), a farmer and carpenter who settled in the area. The name also makes reference to Saint Urbain. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, the street, now stretching northward, was home to several of Montreal's prominent British and French merchants, notably the explorer Alexander Henry the elder. By the turn of the 20th century, sections of the street were industrialised and became run down, and were settled by Jews, predominantly from Eastern Europe. Writer Mordecai Richler immortalised the Mile End section as a centre of the Jewish community in Montreal, and he documented the life there in novels such as St. Urbain's Horseman.From roughly 1970 onwards, the Jewish community uprooted to Outremont and the street was settled by Greek, Portuguese and Caribbean immigrants. Today, much of the street has been gentrified. It traverses the boroughs of Ville-Marie, Le Plateau-Mont-Royal, Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension and Ahuntsic-Cartierville.

Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier is a large multipurpose venue in Montreal, Quebec equipped with sophisticated technical equipment. It seats 2,982 people and is part of the Place des Arts cultural complex in Montréal's Quartier des Spectacles entertainment district. It is the largest multipurpose stage in Canada. It is the home of the Opéra de Montréal, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, and hosts concerts during the Montreal International Jazz Festival. Built in 1963 by Hazen Sise, Dimitri Dimakopoulos and Fred Lebensold (of the Montréal architectural partnership Arcop), the theatre was initially called the Grande Salle before being named in honor of the famous head of the Montréal Symphony Orchestra, Wilfrid Pelletier. It is an adaptable venue for all the kinds of large-scale events, such as opera productions, comedy shows, and pop stars, but also including ballet, symphony orchestras, convocations, and Broadway musicals.

Ontario Street (officially in French: rue Ontario) is an east-west artery in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It crosses the boroughs of Ville-Marie and Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. In the later the street becomes mixed residential and commercial and is known as Promenade Ontario.

Théâtre Maisonneuve is a theatre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is located at Place des Arts in the Quartier des spectacles neighbourhood in the borough of Ville-Marie. Théâtre Maisonneuve was inaugurated in 1967 and was named for the founder of Montreal, Paul Chomedey de Maisonneuve.The theatre has 1,453 seats and is used for variety shows, benefits small ensembles and soloists, musicals and films. Regularly, it also presents the benefits of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, the Orchestre Métropolitain, I Musici de Montreal and the Pro Musica Society. Quebec Issime presents his show every year.

De Maisonneuve Boulevard (officially in French: boulevard De Maisonneuve) is a major westbound boulevard located in downtown Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is named after the founder of Montreal, Paul Chomedey de Maisonneuve. It is a one-way street westbound. De Maisonneuve Boulevard is about 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) long and begins on Du Havre Street in the east end (one block east of Frontenac Street in the borough of Ville-Marie), and ends at West Broadway in the city's west end (in the borough of Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce) near Concordia University's Loyola Campus. The street also runs through the wealthy enclave of Westmount, and is cut in two by Westmount Park.

Place des Arts is a major performing arts centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and the largest cultural and artistic complex in Canada.Home to the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Métropolitain, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, and the Opéra de Montréal, the complex is situated between Saint Catherine and de Maisonneuve Streets, and Saint-Urbain and Jeanne-Mance streets, in an area now known as the Quartier des spectacles in the borough of Ville-Marie. Place des Arts was an initiative of Mayor Jean Drapeau, a noted lover of opera, as part of a project to expand the downtown core eastward from the concentration of business and financial activity in the centre-west part of downtown. The Corporation George-Étienne-Cartier, named in honour of George-Étienne Cartier, a Father of Confederation and opera lover, was set up to build it, and the first part of the complex (including the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier) was inaugurated on September 21, 1963. The other theatres were added progressively.

Saint-Laurent station is a Montreal Metro station in the borough of Ville-Marie in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is operated by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and serves the Green Line. The station opened on October 14, 1966, as part of the original network of the Metro.

Saint Laurent Boulevard also known as Saint Lawrence Boulevard (officially in French: boulevard Saint-Laurent) is a major street in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. A commercial artery and cultural heritage site, the street runs north–south through the near-centre of city and is nicknamed The Main (French: La Main) which is the abbreviation for "Main Street".

La Voie lactée (French: [la vwa lak.te]; transl. "The Milky Way") is a public artwork by the Canadian artist Geneviève Cadieux. Since its unveiling in 1992, it has stood on the roof of the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal (MACM), in the Quartier des spectacles district of Montreal. It consists of a billboard-style light panel depicting, in extreme close-up, female lips wearing red lipstick. The lips, which show signs of aging, are those of Cadieux's mother. Cadieux was asked to create La Voie lactée by the MACM on the occasion of the museum's 1992 relocation in a new building on the Place des Arts. Her choice to depict a pair of giant red lips in the sky was inspired by the Man Ray surrealist painting À l’heure de l’observatoire – Les Amoureux. The photograph itself is a detail from one of Cadieux's earlier works. Upon its unveiling, La Voie lactée received critical acclaim. It was gifted by Cadieux to the MACM in 1995, along with a colour transparency allowing for new prints. "La Voie lactée" is French for "The Milky Way", but many interpretations of the artwork argue that the title is a double entendre. Its homophone "La Voix lactée" translates to "The Milky Voice". Cadieux herself associated her artwork with the themes of voice, language and motherhood. Sexuality has also often been perceived as a theme. In 2011, Cadieux unveiled a companion piece of La Voie lactée in a station of the Paris Métro and titled it La Voix lactée. It is a mosaic reproducing the same photograph of her mother's lips. La Voie lactée is a symbol of the MACM and one of the key artworks in its collection. As one of the most well-known public artworks in Montreal, it is also considered an icon of the city.
