Ohauiti is a semi-rural suburb of Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand's North Island. The original Ohauiti, a rural settlement, is located 10 kilometres to the south of the city centre, although the name is also used for new suburban developments just to the north, on the city's built-up edge. It is within a 10-minute drive of central Tauranga, and a 2-minute drive from the Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology. The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "place of little wind" for Ōhauiti.Ohauiti reserve has open fields and native bush walkways for picnics and off-leash dog walking. Ohauiti has a shopping centre with a takeaways shop, a Bottlezone, a hairdressing salon, and a Four Square.

Otawa is a rural area in the Western Bay of Plenty District and Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island. The Otawa Scenic Reserve has several walking tracks varying between 30 minutes and four hours return. The tracks are described as advanced. The peak of Otawa is 565 metres.

Oropi is a rural settlement located in the Bay of Plenty region of the North Island of New Zealand. It is located 20 kilometres south of Tauranga and 43 kilometres north of Rotorua. It has been suggested that the word Oropi is the Māori language equivalent of Europe. This is derived from the 1860s when government forces were based in the area at the time of the Battle of Gate Pā.The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "place of covering up" for Ōropi.Oropi is mainly a farming community of both agriculture and horticulture ranging from kiwifruit orchards to dairy farms. Recently there has been some subdivision of farms into lifestyle blocks to take advantage of views of the coastline towards the Coromandel Peninsula and islands in the Bay of Plenty including Karewa Island, Mayor Island (Tuhua) and Motiti Island.Local facilities include a 9-hole golf course, hot pools, a paintball course and mountain bike tracks. The Oropi Memorial Hall and Community Centre includes a 170 square metre auditorium. The nearby Otanewainuku Forest, managed by the Department of Conservation, includes three short public walks.A sink hole developed on Oropi Road in August 2019, caused by erosion from a stream. The sinkhole was fixed in January 2020.

Mount Tutu Eco-Sanctuary in Bay of Plenty, North Island, New Zealand, between Tauranga and Rotorua, is a Mainland Island Sanctuary, protected by the Queen Elizabeth II National Trust Act 1977 since 1993. The sanctuary exists to protect and educate on New Zealand's natural flora and fauna, with conservation programmes to mitigate the effects of introduced predators on New Zealand's native wildlife. The indigenous wildlife at the sanctuary include the bellbird, tūī, kererū (wood pigeon), pīwakawaka (fantail), ruru (morepork), pūkeko, and shining cuckoo, skinks and geckos, giant weta, and New Zealand glow worm (Arachnocampa luminosa).

Welcome Bay is a suburb of Tauranga, New Zealand. It is located 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) from central Tauranga. Neighbouring suburbs include Hairini and Maungatapu. There are a number of schools in Welcome Bay, including three primary schools.The name Welcome Bay has been used for the area as early as 1872 by the Bay of Plenty Times.

Hairini is a suburb of Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand's North Island. The New Zealand Transport Agency is constructing a road underpass through the suburb.It has two marae. Hairini Marae and Ranginui meeting house is a meeting place of the Ngāti Ranginui hapū of Ngāi Te Ahi. Waimapu or Ruahine Marae and Te Kaupapa o Tawhito meeting house is a meeting place of the Ngāti Ranginui hapū of Ngāti Ruahine.

Maungatapu is a suburb and peninsula of Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand's North Island. It is north-east of Hairini and south-east of Matapihi. The Maungatapu Peninsula and Matapihi Peninsula are connected by the Maungatapu Bridge. State Highway 29A runs through both suburbs. The local Opopoti Marae and Wairakewa meeting house is a meeting place for the Ngāi Te Rangi hapū of Ngāti He.

Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology is a New Zealand tertiary education institute with campuses in Rotorua, Tauranga, and other towns in the Bay of Plenty and South Waikato regions. It was formed in May 2016 after the amalgamation of Bay of Plenty Polytechnic and Waiariki Institute of Technology. Toi Ohomai is the third largest of the 16 ITPs (Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics) in New Zealand.

ACG Tauranga is a private coeducational day school located on the outskirts of Tauranga, New Zealand. The school is owned and operated by Auckland-based private education company ACG Schools (formerly known as Academic Colleges Group).The school opened at the beginning of the 2015 school year, and initially offered places for Year 1-9 students. It now offers education from preschool-Year 13. It is the first private school in Tauranga since Tauranga Rudolf Steiner School integrated into the state system in March 2005. It is the latest of Academic Colleges Group's 10 schools, whose New Zealand schools are members of Independent Schools of New Zealand (ISNZ). Thea Kilian is the current principal, transferring from her role as Deputy Principal from Auckland's Long Bay College.

Aquinas College is a state-integrated Designated Special Character school on the southwestern outskirts of Tauranga City, New Zealand. It is a Roman Catholic co-educational school that combines intermediate and college (years 7–13). It was founded in 2003 with St. Thomas Aquinas as its patron saint. The proprietor of the school, which is a State-integrated school, is the Bishop of Hamilton. The school's founding principal was Brendon Schollum (2003–2010).

Pyes Pa is a suburb of Tauranga, New Zealand. The suburb is located in the southern part of Tauranga about 40.3 km from Rotorua. It includes The Lakes, Cheyne Road and the TECT All Terrain Park. It is named for Captain Charles Pye (1820 - 1876), who was in the Colonial Defence Force cavalry during the New Zealand Wars.
