Luc-sur-Mer

Luc-sur-Mer was a railway station in Luc-sur-Mer on the Caen à la mer railway and opened on 30 June 1875. In July 1876, the line was extended from Luc to Courseulles-sur-Mer The line from Luc to Courseulles was double in 1900 with the addition of a third 600 mm (1 ft 11+5⁄8 in) rail for trains of the Chemins de fer du Calvados. The station closed in 1952. The station was situated near to Avenue Carnot (current name) where the narrow gauge line split, and went towards Ouistreham.

Cresserons is a commune in the Calvados department in the Normandy region in northwestern France. Cresserons is located just south of the beaches of Normandy. During the Battle of Normandy in the Second World War, British troops arrived there and a battle was fought on 7 June 1944.

Sword, commonly known as Sword Beach, was the code name given to one of the five main landing areas along the Normandy coast during the initial assault phase, Operation Neptune, of Operation Overlord. The Allied invasion of German-occupied France commenced on 6 June 1944. Stretching 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from Ouistreham to Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer, the beach proved to be the easternmost landing site of the invasion after the abortion of an attack on a sixth beach, code-named Band. Taking Sword was to be the responsibility of the British Army with sea transport, mine sweeping and a naval bombardment force provided by the British Royal Navy as well as elements from the Polish, Norwegian and other Allied navies. Among the five beaches of the operation, Sword is the nearest to Caen, about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from the goal of the 3rd Infantry Division. The landings were achieved with low Allied casualties but the advance from the beach was slowed by traffic congestion and resistance in defended areas behind the beach. Further progress towards Caen was halted by the only armoured counter-attack of the day, mounted by the 21st Panzer Division.

Saint Aubin-sur-Mer (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃.t‿obɛ̃ syʁ mɛʁ] , literally Saint Aubin on Sea) is a commune in the Calvados department, in northwestern France. Administratively, it is part of the arrondissement of Caen and the canton of Courseulles-sur-Mer. It is 2.1 km east of Bernières-sur-Mer, 4 km north of Douvres-la-Délivrande and 16 km north of Caen.

La Villa Louis in Lion-sur-Mer, Normandy, France, was built in 1864 for Pierre Joseph Pasquet to be used as a casino. In 1903 he married Elisa Auber, Daniel Auber's daughter, and modify the building to be use as a villa. The French architect Jean Alexandre Navarre add the first floor with the Art-Nouveau loggia on the sea side. The ceramics of the both side of the house are the works of Alexandre Bigot. It is a listed historical monument since 1998.

La Bluette is a villa in Hermanville-sur-Mer by French architect Hector Guimard. It is one of the few remaining early works of Guimard and one of the few monuments of the Art Nouveau style in Calvados, Normandy. It was built in 1899 for Prosper Grivelle, a Parisian lawyer.
