Portishead railway station (WCPR)

Portishead Radio (callsign GKA) was a radio station in England that provided worldwide maritime communications and long-range aeronautical communications from 1928 until 2000. It was the world's largest and busiest long-distance HF maritime radio station. In 1974, the station employed 154 radio operators who handled over 20 million words per year. It was originally operated by the General Post Office (GPO), then the Post Office (1969–1981) and subsequently by British Telecom, which was privatised in 1984.

Portishead ( PORT-iss-hed) is a town and civil parish in the North Somerset unitary authority area, in the county of Somerset, England. The town has a population of 27,000 and is located next to the Severn Estuary opposite Cardiff and Newport in Wales. The town is 8 miles (13 km) to the west of Bristol and 18 miles northeast of Weston-super-Mare. Portishead has a long history as a fishing port. As a Royal Manor it expanded rapidly during the early 19th century around the docks, with supporting transport infrastructure. A power station and chemical works were added in the 20th century, but the dock and industrial facilities have since closed and been redeveloped into a marina and residential areas. Portishead was also the telephone control centre used by British Telecom (BT) for non-direct dialled calls to maritime vessels, a service known as Portishead Radio. The headquarters of both Avon and Somerset Constabulary and Avon Fire and Rescue Service are in Portishead. Portishead Lifeboat Station is situated close to the marina. Run solely by local Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) volunteers, it serves the waters of the Severn estuary and inland waterways into the city of Bristol

Portishead South railway station served the town of Portishead, Somerset, England from 1907 to 1940 on the Weston, Clevedon and Portishead Railway.

Gordano School () is a comprehensive school with academy status located in Portishead, North Somerset, England. In 1999, the school was awarded Specialist schools Technology College status. Gordano School has 2,100 pupils aged 11 to 18 as of March 2022 with an Ofsted rating of outstanding.

Portishead Town Football Club, formerly Portishead A.F.C., are a football club based in Portishead, North Somerset, England founded in 1912. The men's first team are currently members of the Western League Division One and the Ladies first team are members of the FA Women's National League South West Division 1. The club is also home to nearly 900 Junior players aged between 5-16 as part of a merger between other Portishead junior football teams. The club is affiliated to the Somerset County FA.

Port Marine (sometimes branded Portishead Quays) is a mixed-use, waterfront neighbourhood in the town of Portishead in North Somerset and an exurb of Bristol. Masterplanned during the late 1990s on the docklands and power station brownfield beside the Severn Estuary, the area now contains 3420 dwellings, a 133-berth marina, commercial and retail space, a nature reserve, and a sculpture trail. Port Marine has been cited as an exemplar of brownfield suburban regeneration and received a CABE Building for Life Gold award in 2004. It was one of several high-density developments in Portishead to significantly expand the town's urban area and push its population past 27,000.

The Portishead Open Air Pool is a community-managed lido overlooking the Severn Estuary and Bristol Channel on Battery Point in Portishead, England. Opened in 1962 as a heated seawater facility serving the rapidly growing town, it is today operated by the charitable Portishead Pool Community Trust, who leases the site from North Somerset Council and runs it on a not-for-profit basis, with reliance on seasonal staff and volunteers. The pool currently attracts between 40,000 and 50,000 visits in a typical season and is recognised by the local planning authority as a non-designated heritage asset because of its social and historical significance.

Clapton Road railway station served the town of Clapton in Gordano, Somerset, England from 1907 to 1940 on the Weston, Clevedon and Portishead Railway.

Portishead Point Lighthouse, which is more commonly known as Battery Point Lighthouse, in Portishead, Somerset, England was built in 1931.

Portishead Power Station refers to a series of two coal and oil-fired power stations which operated in the dock area of Portishead in Somerset, South West England, between 1929 and 1982. The original coal-fired Portishead power station was built by Bristol Corporation's Electricity Department and started generating in 1929. It was later expanded, and renamed Portishead A Power Station after Portishead B Power Station opened in the early 1950s. The newer station had one-third of its boilers oil-fired and two-thirds coal-fired. Both power stations were later converted to fully oil-fired operation. They closed in the late 1970s and early 1980s respectively, and the buildings and dock area were demolished and cleared. The site of the two power stations is now occupied by housing and the dock has become a marina.

Portishead Lifeboat Station (based in Portishead, Somerset) opened in 1995 as Portishead Lifeboat Trust, an independent lifeboat operating from Sugar Loaf Bay. It was adopted by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in 2015 when a new lifeboat station was opened adjacent to Portishead Pier. The station currently (2019) operates a B-class (Atlantic 85) RNLB My Lady Anne (B-884) with around 40 volunteer crew.

Portishead Pier to Black Nore SSSI (grid reference ST474778) is a 71.8 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest near the town of Portishead in North Somerset, notified in 1952. The Portishead Pier Section is made up of alluvial sandstones which represents the best exposure of Upper Carboniferous rocks in the Avonmouth Coalfield. The cliff and foreshore exposures around Portishead Point provide important exposures of geological structures form during the Variscan mountain building episode (orogeny) in the Carboniferous Period of geological history. Also included are areas which show important exposures of the Devonian sequence and yields several species of fossil fishes. Holoptychius scales are the most abundant fossils, but teeth scales of other species are also relatively common. Notably amongst the collection from this bed are plates of arthrodires, including Groenlandaspis.
