Concord, New Hampshire

The New Hampshire State House, located in Concord at 107 North Main Street, is the state capitol building of New Hampshire. The capitol houses the New Hampshire General Court, Governor, and Executive Council. The building was constructed on a block framed by Park Street (named in honor of the architect, Stuart James Park) to the north, Main Street to the east, Capitol Street to the south, and North State Street to the west.

Commodore George Hamilton Perkins is a public memorial that stands on the grounds of the New Hampshire State House in Concord, New Hampshire, United States. The statue was designed by sculptor Daniel Chester French, with architect Henry Bacon designing the remainder of the public monument. It honors George H. Perkins, a New Hampshire native who had served as an officer in the United States Navy during the American Civil War. The statue was dedicated in 1902.

The New Hampshire State Library is a library in Concord, New Hampshire, and also a state agency, overseen since 2017 by the New Hampshire Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR). The physical building is located across the street from the New Hampshire State House.

The New Hampshire Savings Bank Building is a historic commercial building at 97 North Main Street in downtown Concord, New Hampshire, across Capitol Street from the New Hampshire State House. The five story granite building was built in 1926-27 for what is now the oldest bank in the city, and was the only bank building built in the city in the first half of the 20th century. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.New Hampshire Savings Bank was founded in 1830, as the fourth in the state and third in the city. It first occupied part of the Merrimack County Bank building at 214 North Main Street, followed by Stickney's Block, which stood just south of the Eagle Hotel, roughly across North Main Street from this building. The bank purchased Stickney's in 1885, demolished it, and built the commercial block now on that site. Seeking a larger space in the early 1920s, it purchased a three-story block on this site, demolished it in 1925, and built the present building. Its major design work was done by Joseph D. Leland of Boston, with local support from George W. Griffin. Granite for the building's construction came from the Rattlesnake Hill quarry in West Concord. The building originally had two full-size floors, with U-shaped upper floors; the open U was enclosed in 1986. The lower two floors were at first mainly occupied by a large banking hall, which had a two-story ceiling; offices of the president and bank trustees were located on a mezzanine level.

The Upham-Walker House is a historic house located at 18 Park Street in Concord, New Hampshire. Built in 1831, it is the only remaining Federal-style house in central Concord. It is now owned by the state and used for special functions. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 15, 1980.

The Concord Civic District consists of a collection of local and state civic buildings centered on the New Hampshire State House in Concord, New Hampshire. In addition to the State House, the district includes the Legislative Office Building, New Hampshire State Library, Concord City Hall, Concord Community Center, New Hampshire Historical Society, State House Annex, and the Concord Public Library. It also includes statuary and memorial objects placed on the grounds of the State House. The buildings, although architecturally different, are predominantly made out of locally quarried granite, and their grounds are landscaped in similar ways. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Eagle Hotel is a historic hotel building at 110 North Main Street in Concord, New Hampshire. Built in 1851, it has been a prominent local landmark since then, and a meeting place for state politicians, given its location across the street from the New Hampshire State House. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The Downtown Concord Historic District encompasses most of the commercial heart of downtown Concord, New Hampshire, United States. Incorporated in 1734, Concord became the state capital in 1808 and the seat of Merrimack County in 1823. Economic growth followed, due in part to these government institutions and also to the rise of industry along the Merrimack River, which flows through the city east of the downtown area, and the arrival in the 1840s of the railroad. The New Hampshire State House was built in 1819 south of the traditional center of the city (now the Concord Historic District), and the commercial heart of the city began to take shape along the First New Hampshire Turnpike south of the State House (now Main Street). The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.The district is centered on North and South Main Street, between Loudon Road/Centre Street in the north and Hills Avenue in the south. It also includes properties on North State Street between Pleasant and School streets, as well as some on the side streets extending for one block on either side of Main Street. It does not include the New Hampshire State House or its grounds, which are listed as part of the Concord Civic District.Most of the buildings in district were constructed in the second half of the 19th century. The oldest wood-frame building is the 1819 wood frame Upham-Walker House on Park Street, which is separately listed on the National Register. The first brick commercial building in Concord, the Merrimack County Bank building at 47 North Main Street, was built in 1808 and significantly altered in the 1860s; it is also separately listed. Following the arrival of the railroad, there was a flurry of building activity in the 1850s and 1860s, in which time many of Main Street's brick buildings were built.

Baker Memorial Church was a Methodist church in Concord, New Hampshire, United States. It organized on October 30, 1874, by Presiding Elder Theodore L. Flood, in response to a request from 100 members of the First Church, who believed the best interests of a growing Methodism could be served best with two societies instead of one. The church was named in honor of Bishop Osmon C. Baker, a native of New Hampshire and a member of the New Hampshire Annual Conference. It was later demolished.

The Legislative Office Building of the New Hampshire State Legislature is a government office building across North State Street from the New Hampshire State House in Concord, New Hampshire. Built in 1889, it is one of the state's largest buildings built out of locally quarried granite. It was originally used as a post office and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Old Post Office. It was also included in the Concord Civic District in 1983.

The New Hampshire Senate is the upper house of the New Hampshire General Court, alongside the lower New Hampshire House of Representatives. The Senate has been meeting since 1784. The Senate consists of 24 members representing Senate districts based on population. There are 14 Republicans and 10 Democrats currently serving in the Senate.

The Lake Winnipesaukee mystery stone is an alleged out-of-place artifact (OOPArt) found in a town near Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. The stone's age, purpose and origin are unknown.The stone is about 4 inches (100 mm) long and 2.5 inches (64 mm) thick, dark and egg-shaped, bearing a variety of carved symbols. Carvings on one side of the stone show an ear of corn and several other figures. The other side is more abstract, featuring inverted arrows, a moon shape, some dots and a spiral.A hole goes through the stone from top to bottom, seemingly bored from both ends with different size bits (1⁄8 inch (3.2 mm) at the top and 3⁄8 inch (9.5 mm) at the bottom).
