Shchukinskaya (Russian: Щукинская) is a station on the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya Line of the Moscow Metro. Named after the village of Schukino before it was consumed by Moscow and became a municipality in the 1940s, it was opened on 30 December 1975. The design follows the original pillar-trispan (40 columns instead of 26). The pillars are faced with different shades of pinkish marble (from the Ukrainian deposit of Burovshchina) and punctuated by a vertical strip of anodized aluminum on each face. The walls are of corrugated, bronze-coloured aluminum, an alloy of extensive strength and flexibility, adorned with decorative panels. The floor is covered with polished grey granite. The architects were Nina Aleshina, N. Samoylova and M. Alekseev. During the construction of the extension tunnel Oktyabrskoe Pole – Shchukinskaya a new engineering method was developed. Because the Moscow soil was sandy, the metro tunnels had traditionally been built using the open pit method (i.e. digging from the surface) or by restricting building work from passing under inhabited areas as cave-ins would have been very likely. For the Shchukinskaya tunnel however circular concrete blocks were pressed rather than mounted into the soil, and as this was done rapidly the elements did not have time to develop into heavy pressure and sap into the tunnel. This removed the need for festering a sand-cement mixture into the finish, thereby dramatically increasing the potential speed of construction, and saving on building materials. Another achievement was that no metal was used for the mounting of the tunnel blocks, instead a bitumen mixture formed from the pressure of the boring complex was used to join the blocks. As this was denser than the soil, there was no need for festering of the cement. The entrances to the station are located near the intersection of Shchukinskaya Ulitsa and Ulitsa Marshala Vasilevskogo. The station handles 93500 people daily.

Shchukino District (Russian: райо́н Щу́кино) is an administrative district (raion) of North-Western Administrative Okrug, and one of the 125 administrative districts of the federal city of Moscow, Russia. It borders with Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo District in the south, Strogino District in the east, Khoroshevo-Mnevniki District in the north, and in the west there is the boundary between North-Western and Northern Administrative Okrugs. The area of the district is 7.68 square kilometers (2.97 sq mi). Population: 105,665 (2010 Census); 89,454 (2002 Census).

Moscow-Riga Railroad Bridge is a concrete arch bridge that spans the Moscow Canal between Tushino and Shchukino Districts in northwestern Moscow, Russia. The bridge does not have an official name and is sometimes called the Railroad bridge over Moscow Canal. It was completed in 1936, designed by A.S.Bachelis.

The T-15 (or Tokamak-15) is a Russian (previously Soviet) nuclear fusion research reactor located at the Kurchatov Institute, which is based on the (Soviet-invented) tokamak design. It was the first industrial prototype fusion reactor to use superconducting magnets to control the plasma. These enormous superconducting magnets confined the plasma the reactor produced, but failed to sustain it for more than just a few seconds. Despite not being immediately applicable, this new technological advancement proved to the USSR that they were on the right path. In the original (circular cross-section with limiter) shape, a toroidal chamber design, it had a major radius of 2.43 m and minor radius 0.7 m.The T-15 achieved creating its first thermonuclear plasma in 1988 and the reactor remained operational until 1995. The plasma created was thought to solve a number of issues engineers have struggled with in the past. This combined with the USSR's desire for cheaper energy ensured the continuing progress of the T-15 under Mikhail S. Gorbachev. It was designed to replace the country's use of gas and coal as the primary sources of energy. It achieved 1 MA and 1.5 MW injection for 1 second pulse. It carried out about 100 shots before closing (in 1995) due to a lack of funds.

The Kurchatov Institute (Russian: Национальный исследовательский центр «Курчатовский Институт», National Research Centre "Kurchatov Institute") is Russia's leading research and development institution in the field of nuclear energy. It is named after Igor Kurchatov and is located at 1 Kurchatov Square, Moscow. In the Soviet Union it was known as I. V. Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy (Russian: Институт Атомной Энергии им. И.В. Курчатова), abbreviated KIAE (Russian: КИАЭ). Between 1991 and 2010, it was known as the Russian Scientific Centre "Kurchatov Institute" (Роcсийский научный центр «Курчатовский Институт») before its name was changed to National Research Centre "Kurchatov Institute".

Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo Estate is an estate in the north-west of Мoscow. Other names include Pokrovskoye-Glebovo and Glebovo-Streshnevo. It has a manor house in the classicism style, a church from the 17th century, and other various Russian Revival architecture buildings.

The F-1 (from "First Physical Reactor") is a research reactor operated by the Kurchatov Institute in Moscow, Russia. When started on December 25, 1946, it became the first nuclear reactor in Europe to achieve a self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction. It was still in operation in the beginning of the 2010s, with a power level of 24 kW, making it, at that time, the world's oldest operating reactor. The fuel in F-1 is metallic uranium with the natural content of the 235 U isotope (0.72%), graphite as a moderator, and cadmium rods to control the neutron flux. The spherical structure with a diameter of about 6 meters is made of loose graphite bricks. The graphite stack has holes in which fuel and control rods are placed, as well as research and control equipment. The weight of graphite is 400 tons, uranium is 50 tons. Thermal power of the reactor is from 100 W to 1 MW. Air cooling, if necessary, was provided by fans. Long-term operation at high power was not possible, but the large mass of the core allowed a short-term increase in power to peak values. In November 2016 it was in permanent shutdown state.

Lukoil Arena (Russian: Лукойл Арена), former Otkritie Bank Arena (Russian: Открытие Банк Арена) and Otkritie Arena (Russian: Открытие Банк Арена), also known as Spartak Stadium (Russian: Стадион Спартак) (the stadium's official name during the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup), is a multi-purpose stadium north-west of Moscow, Russia. The venue is used mostly for football matches, hosting the home matches of Spartak Moscow.The stadium is designed with a capacity of 45,360 people. It has been used for select matches of Russian national football team.

DOSAAF of Russia (Russian: Добровольное общество содействия армии, авиации и флоту России (ДОСААФ России)) is an all-Russian volunteer public-state organization (общественно-государственная организация), an indirect successor of the Soviet DOSAAF, with the declared purpose of strengthening of the country's defense capability and national security. In addition, DOSAAF members will take part in the elimination of the consequences of emergency situations, such as catastrophes natural disasters, helping the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Zhivopisny Bridge (Russian: Живописный Мост, lit. Picturesque bridge) is a cable-stayed bridge that spans Moskva River in north-western Moscow, Russia. It is the first cable-stayed bridge in Moscow. It opened on 27 December 2007 as a part of Krasnopresnensky avenue. It is also the highest cable-stayed bridge in Europe. The author of the project is the architect Nikolay Shumakov.
