Nalkala

Hallituskatu is an east–west street running through the districts of Nalkala and Kaakinmaa, in the centre of Tampere, Finland. Its end point in the east is the cartboard factory area of Metsä Board Tako. The street name Hallituskatu (literally translated "government street") dates from 1807, when it was created as a result of committee work. It is one of the oldest street names in Tampere. The name model may have been a Stockholm street name, as it is known that there were no other Hallituskatus in Finland's major cities at that time. There is also no local justification for using the name.Along Hallituskatu are Tampere Workers' Hall, Tampere Market Hall, The Aamulehti Building and three school buildings.

The Tampere Lenin Museum (Finnish: Lenin-museo) is a museum devoted to Vladimir Lenin in Tampere, Finland. It was established in 1946 by the Finland–Soviet Union Society, and today it is run by The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas. It was the first museum dedicated to Lenin outside the Soviet Union, and is now the only surviving one located outside Russia. The museum is located in the Tampere Workers' Hall. Built in 1900, the building hosted underground meetings of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party in 1905 and 1906. At the 1905 meeting, Lenin met Joseph Stalin in person for the first time. The museum has a permanent exhibition with material related to Lenin's life and the history of the Soviet Union. It also organizes varying exhibitions on different themes.The museum was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples in 1986 by the council of Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the museum has developed a more critical view to Lenin's work and the Soviet Union.

The Tampere Workers' Theatre (Finnish: Tampereen Työväen Teatteri) or the TTT-Theatre is one of the two main active theatres in Kaakinmaa, Tampere, Finland, along with the Tampere Theatre (Finnish: Tampereen Teatteri).

Tampere Market Hall (Finnish: Tampereen kauppahalli; Swedish: Tammerfors saluhall) is one of the significant market places in Tampere, Finland. It is located in the center of city, between Hämeenkatu and Hallituskatu, and it was opened in 1901. It was decided to build the market in Tampere as a result of a large and unregulated market. It is the largest market hall in the Nordic countries. The floor area of the market hall is 2,100 m2 and the volume is about 18,500 m³. The market hall has 174 sales outlets and in 2013 there were 39 companies operating in them. 40 percent of the outlets are used in cafeterias and restaurants, which especially the restaurant 4 Vuodenaikaa ("Four Seasons") is very popular with both locals and tourists. The longest of the current stores in the mall have been Joenniemi Flower Shop (1940–) and Lindgren Bros. Meat Shop (1949–).

Southern Park (Finnish: Eteläpuisto) is a public park in Tampere, Finland. It was designed by the engineer K. Vaaramäki and built by landscape gardener Onni Karsten. It is a common venue for musical concerts during the summer.

Tampere Workers' Hall (also known as the Puistotorni, The Park Tower) is a conference and congress centre in Kaakinmaa, Tampere, Finland, located in the corner between Hämeenpuisto and Hallituskatu. It was built in 1900 by the Tampere Workers' Society as a People's House for the local working-class. The building has been expanded twice, in 1912 after the design of the architect Heikki Kaartinen and in 1930 by the architect Bertel Strömmer. Today the Workers' Hall include conference rooms, a restaurant as well as premises of the Social Democratic Party, University of Tampere and the Tampere Lenin Museum. The 1901 established Tampere Workers' Theatre was housed in the Workers' Hall until 1985 when the new theatre building was raised to the next plot.In December 1905 Tampere Workers' Hall hosted the exile conference of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party. It was an unofficial meeting held between the 3rd and 4th Party Congresses in London and Stockholm. Tampere Conference was the first time when Lenin and Stalin met in person.

Laukontori (or the Laukko Square, also known as Alaranta) is a market square in the southern part of the city center of Tampere, Finland, on the shores of Lake Pyhäjärvi. It is located just a few hundred meters from Tampere Central Square. Square's beach serves as a harbor for cruise ships to the Viikinsaari island and the city of Hämeenlinna in the summer. Laukontori got its name from the first steamboat sailing on Lake Pyhäjärvi, the Laukko paddle steamer, which was built in 1859 but scrapped as early as 1864. As such, the ship was so significant that the people of Tampere began to use the name Laukontori, or the square on which Laukko landed. The same berth was later used by another steamboat named Laukko. Alaranta and Alasatama have been used as parallel names for Laukontori, although on the other hand the port of the Mustalahti bay on the shores of Lake Näsijärvi has never been called Yläranta or Yläsatama. Laukontori has officially belonged to the Tampere street system in 1868–1886 and again since 1897. In the intervening years, the market was called Kalatori ("fish market square"). Residential apartment buildings were built on the outskirts of Laukontori in the early 20th century, and the area was a favorite residential area for wealthy city dwellers. In 1905, almost half of the residents of the entire Nalkala district were considered to belong to the highest social group. Until the 1950s, Laukontori was a lively trading place where rural residents who came to Tampere from the Lake Pyhäjärvi area sold their products on inland waterway vessels. In addition to Tammelantori, Laukontori is also a famous "original" place to enjoy the mustamakkara black sausage. The Laukontori is led across the Tammerkoski by the Vuolteensilta bridge, completed in 1985, and the Laukonsilta bridge, completed in the summer of 2010, connects Laukontori and the Ratina district.

Sauna Open Air Metal Festival, shortly Sauna Open Air or just Sauna, was one of the largest music festivals dedicated only to heavy metal and related styles of rock music in the Nordic countries. It was first arranged in 2004 and takes place in the Ratinanniemi park in Tampere, Finland. From 8 June to 10 June 2006, over 20,000 people arrived to watch such bands as Cradle of Filth, Finntroll, Iggy & The Stooges, Lordi, Twisted Sister and W.A.S.P. In 2007, the festival gathered an audience of over 22,000 people, at the time a record audience for the Sauna festival. This record was beaten in 2011, with a new record audience of 26,000. In 2019, the festival made a comeback after a six-year hiatus and was held in Ratinanniemi Park.

Hämeenpuisto is a street and public park in Tampere, Finland that is over 1-kilometre (0.62 mi) in length. Its length and central location has earned the park the name "Central Park of Tampere". The park was designed by Carl Ludvig Engel in 1830. Originally the name of the park was Esplanadi, which was changed to Hämeenpuisto in 1936. The Hämeenpuisto street is a boulevard, consisting of two one-way streets on each side of the park. Hämeenkatu ends in the west at Hämeenpuisto, and one of the cross streets includes Hallituskatu. Along the Hämeenpuisto are the Metso Library, the Alexander Church, the Workers' Hall and the Lenin Museum, among others.

The Commerce house is a five-floor residential and business building in Tampere, Finland, located along the Hämeenkatu street and the Tampere Central Square at the so-called Jugendtori square, built in 1899. The building represents the Art Nouveau style and was designed by the Helsinki-based architecture bureau Andersin, Jung ja Bomanson (architects Bertel Jung, Waldemar Andersin and Oscar Bomanson). The name of the building comes from the French word commerce, meaning business or commerce.For a long time, the building hosted the Hotel Central, founded in 1907. The hotel was later renamed Hotel Centrum. The corner business space of the building hosted the Ensimmäinen apteekki pharmacy ("first pharmacy", originally spelled Ensimäinen apteekki according to the spelling rules at the time) until 1983, after which it hosted Finland's first McDonald's hamburger restaurant on 14 December 1984. For a short time, from 1983 to 1984, the business space hosted a Burger King restaurant. In May 2010 the restaurant was threatened by a fire which had started from the fat fryer in the McDonald's restaurant. The repairs of the fire damage lasted for two years and the McDonald's restaurant was reopened in spring 2012. The McDonald's restaurant was closed down in autumn 2015 and was replaced by a restaurant of the Friends & Brgrs hamburger restaurant chain in early 2016.

The Tampere City Hall (Finnish: Tampereen Raatihuone; Swedish: Tammerfors rådhus) is a Neo-Renaissance building in Tampere, Finland, situated at the edge of the Tampere Central Square. The current city hall was built in 1890 and was designed by Georg Schreck. The palacial building has many halls and the city of Tampere holds many events there. During the Great Strike in 1905, the so-called "Red Manifest" was read from the balcony of the Tampere City Hall.

Ohranjyvä (Finnish for "grain of barley") is a restaurant on Näsilinnankatu in central Tampere, Finland. Ohranjyvä was founded by the Jussi Linkosuo, the master baker of the Linkosuo bakery in a former office on Näsilinnankatu in March 1965, just before the first Ice Hockey World Championships held in Finland. Ohranjyvä was among the first beer restaurants in Finland. In the early 1980s Ohranjyvä was moved under Alko's daughter company Arctia and then in 1997 to Scandic Hotels, which was only interested in keeping Arctia's hotels. The current owner of Ohranjyvä is Jaro Suoste's Jyväravintolat Oy.The restaurant's famous dishes Puerto Ricon pannu ("pan of Puerto Rico") and Kanaa talon takaa ("chicken from behind the house") attracted customers even from further away. Ohranjyvä was also made famous by regular patrons working in the television industry, who still frequent the restaurant, which they call "O-Studio".Ohranjyvä is the favourite bar of the reporter character Mauno Ahonen in the sketch comedy show Kummeli on YLE TV2.
