Apple Fire

The Bogart Fire was a wildfire in the Bogart Park area of Cherry Valley in Riverside County, California. The fire broke out near Winesap Avenue and International Park Road just southwest of Bogart Park on August 30, 2016. By August 31, the fire was estimated at 1,300 acres.

Cherry Valley is a census-designated place (CDP) in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 6,362 at the 2010 census, up from 5,891 at the 2000 census. It is situated at the most northwestern point of the San Gorgonio Pass. The area was planted with many cherry trees, for which Cherry Valley was named. While many of the trees have long since been removed and replaced with homes, a few can still be spotted in backyards throughout the area.

Cherry Valley Hospital, also called Beaumont General Hospital and then Naval Convalescent Hospital Beaumont was a large medical treatment facility during World War 2 near the City of Beaumont, California in Riverside County. The US Army built a 1,000 bed hospital on the 241-acre site in the spring of 1942. The Hospital had 90 wood buildings, including 34 ward buildings, administrative, water treatment, support and staff quarters. The Hospital was at the base of foothills of the San Bernardino National Forest, 4 miles north of the city. The US Army used the to Hospital to support troops training in the California-Arizona Maneuver Area of the vast Desert Training Center. The vast training center trained US Army and Army Air Forces Troops in 1942 and 1943 to prepare for the North African campaign. The training center started in Pomona, California went eastward almost to Phoenix, Arizona, the south boundary was just outside Yuma, Arizona and north boundary to the southern part of Nevada. At the end of Army training the Cherry Valley Hospital was not needed and on May 26, 1944 the facility was surplus. Cherry Valley Hospital was transferred to the US Navy on July 1, 1944 and renamed Naval Convalescent Hospital Beaumont. The Naval Hospital cared for Troops with convalescent wounds or illness, those recovering from surgery and neuropsychiatric troops who were later discharged. After the war, the Hospital closed on December 31, 1945, all but one building was removed by July 1946. The one building remaining became a hardware store. In 1948 the land was sold by the General Services Administration and developed into residential properties, now in Cherry Valley, California, Cherry Valley Acres.

The Highland Springs Ranch & Inn, formerly known as Highland Springs Resort, was established in 1884 and became Riverside County's first historical landmark. The ranch is located in the unincorporated community of Cherry Valley at the northwestern end of the San Gorgonio Pass. The Ranch and its immediate neighborhood are known as the community of Highland Springs. Formerly a stagecoach stop on the Bradshaw Trail, owned by Dr. Isaac Smith, the ranch became a hotel turned health resort by Fred S. Hirsch and his brother William in 1927. The location was frequented by numerous historical figures, including Wyatt Earp, Ernest Hemingway, and Albert Einstein. The property, now under the care of Highland Springs president Tina Kummerle, encompasses 2400 acres and comprises one of California’s largest organic lavender farms, a restaurant, inn, and camp.

Beaumont Unified School District is located in central Riverside County, California. The district services Beaumont, California and the unincorporated area of Cherry Valley.

It includes the Los Angeles metropolitan area (the second most populous urban agglomeration in the United States) as well as the Inland Empire (another large metropolitan area). The sparsely populated desert region of California occupies a significant portion (part of which was even proposed to become a new county due to cultural, economic and geographic differences relative to the rest of the more urban region) of the area: the Colorado Desert, along with the Colorado River, is located on Southern California's eastern border with Arizona, and the Mojave Desert shares a border with Nevada to the northeast. Southern California's southern border with Baja California is part of the Mexico–United States border.

KXRS (105.7 FM, "La Mejor 105.7" ) is a radio station broadcasting a classic regional Mexican format. Licensed to Hemet, California, United States, it serves Riverside County, California. The station is currently owned by Radio Lazer.

KQIE (104.7 FM, "Old School 104.7") is a commercial radio station that is licensed to Redlands, California and serves the Inland Empire area. The station is owned by LC Media and airs a rhythmic oldies music format. KQIE's studios are located in San Bernardino and the transmitter tower is in Yucaipa. The station is partially simulcast on sister station KOCP in Oxnard, California, also at 104.7 FM.

KRQB (96.1 FM) is one of four Southern California radio stations branded as "Que Buena" and which all play Regional Mexican music. Its owner is Estrella Media. KRQB shares the same weekday morning show as the three Los Angeles-area Que Buena stations, but has local DJs the rest of the day. KRQB is licensed to San Jacinto, California, and serves the Riverside-San Bernardino radio market. KRQB has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 1,400 watts, as a Class A station. Its transmitter is off Pisgah Peak-Oak Glen Road in Yucaipa.

KAEH (100.9 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed in Beaumont, California, with studios located on South E Street in San Bernardino, California, broadcasting to the Riverside area. KAEH airs a regional Mexican music format branded as "Radio Lazer." It is simulcast on KXSB, which serves the San Bernardino area.

The Beaumont-Cherry Valley Recreation and Park District is a special district in Riverside County, California serving the communities of Beaumont and Cherry Valley. Established in 1972, the District provides parks, park facilities and recreational programs to the local communities. Management of the Bogart Regional Park was transferred from Riverside County Parks to the District in 2019, and is the largest facility overseen by the District.
