The Election Commission (Nepali: निर्वाचन आयोग, नेपाल; Nirvācana āyōg, Nēpāl) is a constitutional body responsible for conducting and monitoring elections, as well as registering parties and candidates and reporting election outcomes, in Nepal. It was born out of the 1950 revolution in Nepal, and was established in law in 1951, although it has been changed somewhat by law over time. It has six members who serve for six-year terms, as established by the Constitution of Nepal. During the Constituent Assembly elections in 2008, it was criticized for not fully upholding its duties, but was acknowledged to have managed the elections well nonetheless. The first election commissioner was Subarna Shumsher Rana in 1951 A.D.

The Tribhuvan Sadan (Nepali: त्रिभुवन सदन) is a mansion in the Narayanhiti Palace, Kathmandu, Nepal. It is known for being the site of the Nepalese royal massacre where ten members of the royal family, including King Birendra, Queen Aishwarya, and Crown Prince Dipendra were killed. The mansion was formerly occupied by King Tribhuvan and his family and later by Dipendra, Crown Prince of Nepal. The Tribhuvan Sadan was demolished after the orders of the Queen Mother Ratna however It is currently being reconstructed.

The National School of Sciences (NSS) formerly known as the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST), was established in 1993. It is located in Lainchour, Kathmandu, Nepal. The patron of the institute is Madhav Prasad Baral, who is also the academic in charge and similarly vice principal is Pranita Sharma Baral.The school offers science and management courses, primarily focusing on science. The institute is a part of a larger NIST Foundation which has multiple other branches which offer education from the secondary level up to the graduate levels. The National school of science (NSS) is a premier education institute managed by the NIST foundation that was established three decades ago. The core objective of the foundation, as an apex body, have been to establish education institutions, and provide students academic programmes from pre-school to high-school to university.” Institute is open Sunday to Friday 5AM-5PM. Classrooms are spaciously designed to accommodate thirty-six students. Student furniture is chosen so as to provide the necessary comfort and support for proper seating posture taking into account the long hours students put in inside the classroom. Each classroom is equipped with a fixed projector and access to high internet connectivity to ensure the use of tech in learning. Student and teacher get 1 hour of lunch break per day and 15 mins rest break after every 2 classes. The school has provision of canteen for students and they can bring their lunch if they want. Canteen serves freshly prepared and well-balanced diet of veg and non-veg dishes. Applicants must pass the Entrance examination in a related course to enroll at NIST. Institute has a prescribed set of school uniform which all students must adhere to. Uniform includes shirt, pant, tie, coat and black shoe. Students are also provided with house t-shirt for the ECAs and a sweater for winter. The school provides transportation facilities to students who require bus service to commute to and from the school. Application for the bus service have to be made at the time of admissions and is only available within the periphery of 10 km.

Amrit Campus is the first science campus of Nepal, located in Lainchaur, Kathmandu. It was formerly known as Public Science College (PUSCOL.) It was later renamed in the memory of Amrit Prasad Pradhan. Pradhan was born in 1918 at Thamel, Kathmandu, Nepal. He worked as the headmaster of Juddhodaya Public High School in Birgunj for two years and later joined Tri-Chandra College as a lecturer in chemistry. In 1962, he became the founding principal of Public Science College and began teaching as a professor of chemistry.Pradhan helped to establish Amrit Campus with a goal of promoting the study of science and technology in Nepal. The campus benefited greatly from his enterprise, dedication and enthusiasm. While on a mission to the United States for academic reasons, he died in an air crash over Mont Blanc on January 24, 1966.

Thamel (Nepali: ठमेल) is a commercial neighborhood located in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Thamel has been the centre of the tourist industry in Kathmandu for over four decades, starting from the hippie days, when many artists came to Nepal and spent weeks in Thamel. It is considered as the hotspot for tourism inside the Kathmandu valley.Thamel is known by its narrow alleys crowded with various shops and vendors. Commonly sold goods include food, fresh vegetables/fruits, pastries, trekking gear, walking gear, music, DVDs, handicrafts, souvenirs, woolen items and clothes. Travel agencies, small grocery stores, budget hotels, restaurants, pubs and clubs also line the streets. Cars, cycle rickshaws, two-wheelers and taxis ply these narrow streets alongside hundreds of pedestrians. Many restaurants in Thamel serve traditional and continental cuisine. Thamel also acts as the pre-base camp for mountaineers. It boasts a wide range of mountaineering gear shops, foreign money exchange booths, mobile phone shops, along with the numerous travel agents and guest houses. Thamel is widely regarded as the center of Kathmandu's nightlife and is also popular for its wide range of restaurants and cafés, live music and other attractions frequented by both tourists and locals. The places near Thamel are Kwabahal, JP Road, Paknajol, Sanchaya Kosh road.

Baneshwor (Nepali: बानेश्वर) is the largest residential area of Kathmandu, Nepal. The area is composed of New-Baneshwor, Mid-Baneshwor, and Old-Baneshwor, Baneshwor Height, Minbhawan, Shankhamul, Bhimsengola and Thapa Gaun.. Major landmarks of Baneshwor include the current meeting place of the Federal Parliament of Nepal, the [[International Convention Centre, Nepal|International Convention Centre]]. Maitighar Mandala is located at the southern border of the neighborhood. Baneshwor is undoubtedly the most developed place in Nepal as it is the central hub of many businesses and opportunities. It is regarded as the land of opportunities by Nepali people. The Narayanhiti Palace Museum (Nepali: नारायणहिटी दरवार) is a public museum in Kathmandu, Nepal located east of the Kaiser Mahal and next to Thamel. The museum was created in 2008 from the complex of the former Narayanhiti Palace (or Narayanhiti Durbar) following the 2006 revolution. Before the revolution, the palace was the residence and principal workplace of the monarch of the Kingdom of Nepal, and hosted occasions of state.The existing palace complex was built by King Mahendra in 1963, and incorporates an impressive array of courtyards, gardens and buildings.

The Nepali royal massacre occurred on 1 June 2001 at the Narayanhiti Palace, the then-residence of the Nepalese monarchy. Nine members of the royal family, including King Birendra and Queen Aishwarya, were killed in a mass shooting during a gathering of the royal family at the palace. A government-appointed inquiry team named Crown Prince Dipendra as perpetrator of the massacre. Dipendra slipped into a coma after shooting himself in the head.Dipendra was declared King of Nepal while comatose after the death of King Birendra. He died in hospital three days after the massacre without regaining consciousness. Birendra's brother Gyanendra then became king.

The Pancha Kashmiri Takiya Masjid commonly known as the Kashmiri Masjid, build in 15th century AD, is one of the oldest mosques of Nepal.Muslims from Kashmir entered Nepal for trade during the time of king Ratna Malla and the mosque was built in the time of king Pratap Malla. The mosque has undergone multiple renovations. More Kashmiri people came to Kathmandu due to violence in Kashmire. The current mosque was built in the times of king Prithvi Narayan Shah after the Muslims helped him to spy on Malla rulers.The mosque has three complexes viz. a prayer hall, an annexe and a madrasah. The tombs of Haji Mishkin Shah and Khwaja Gyasuddin Shah are inside the premises.

Shree Sadan (Nepali: श्री सदन) is a three-storey cottage used by King Birendra and his family.Shree Sadan was opened to the public in November 2020. It spans over 754 ropanis of land.

Rani Pokhari (Nepali: रानी पोखरी; lit. queen's pond), originally known as Nhu Pukhu (Newar: न्हू पुखू; lit. new pond), is a historic artificial pond located in the heart of Kathmandu, Nepal. The square-shaped tank dates from the 17th century, and was built on the eastern side of the then city limits. It lies just outside a former city gate. The pond is one of Kathmandu's most famous landmarks and is known for its religious and aesthetic significance. Its dimensions are 180m by 140m.

Durbar High School (Nepali: दरबार हाई स्कूल) or Bhanu Higher Secondary School, opened in 1854 is the oldest modern school in Nepal located near Rani Pokhari, Kathmandu. The school was originally built to teach sons of Ranas exclusively but was opened to public citizens in 1901 by Dev Shumsher Jang Bahadur Rana. At first, Rana children were given education at Thapathali Durbar but later Jung Bahadur Rana moved it into its own building at Ranipokhari, Kathmandu. Some parts of the school were destroyed in the April 2015 Nepal earthquake. The school was rebuilt under the Chinese Aid.
