The Kaiser Library is a government-run public library in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is located in the Keshar Mahal palace complex. The library was established in 1907 by the then Prime Minister of Nepal, Chandra Shumsher Jang Bahadur Rana for his son, Kaiser (Keshar) Shumsher Rana. The library hosts some rare and ancient books on Buddhism, Tantrism and astrology. Some are written on palm-leaf manuscript. The books include a 1,100-year-old copy of the Sushruta Samhita, an ancient Sanskrit text on medicine listed in UNESCO's international Memory of the World Register. This manuscript is now the subject of an international research project.Beside books, the library also has paintings and other antique artifacts.

The Pancha Kashmiri Takiya Masjid commonly known as the Kashmiri Masjid, build in 15th century AD, is one of the oldest mosques of Nepal.Muslims from Kashmir entered Nepal for trade during the time of king Ratna Malla and the mosque was built in the time of king Pratap Malla. The mosque has undergone multiple renovations. More Kashmiri people came to Kathmandu due to violence in Kashmire. The current mosque was built in the times of king Prithvi Narayan Shah after the Muslims helped him to spy on Malla rulers.The mosque has three complexes viz. a prayer hall, an annexe and a madrasah. The tombs of Haji Mishkin Shah and Khwaja Gyasuddin Shah are inside the premises.

Durbar High School (Nepali: दरबार हाई स्कूल) or Bhanu Higher Secondary School, opened in 1854 is the oldest modern school in Nepal located near Rani Pokhari, Kathmandu. The school was originally built to teach sons of Ranas exclusively but was opened to public citizens in 1901 by Dev Shumsher Jang Bahadur Rana. At first, Rana children were given education at Thapathali Durbar but later Jung Bahadur Rana moved it into its own building at Ranipokhari, Kathmandu. Some parts of the school were destroyed in the April 2015 Nepal earthquake. The school was rebuilt under the Chinese Aid.

Rani Pokhari (Nepali: रानी पोखरी; lit. queen's pond), originally known as Nhu Pukhu (Newar: न्हू पुखू; lit. new pond), is a historic artificial pond located in the heart of Kathmandu, Nepal. The square-shaped tank dates from the 17th century, and was built on the eastern side of the then city limits. It lies just outside a former city gate. The pond is one of Kathmandu's most famous landmarks and is known for its religious and aesthetic significance. Its dimensions are 180m by 140m.

The Ghanta Ghar (घन्टाघर), situated in the capital city of Kathmandu, is the oldest clock tower of Nepal. It lies in front of Rani Pokhari and near Trichandra College. It was built by Rana Prime Minister Bir Shumsher. The original clock tower was designed after Big Ben of London, as Western influence crept into Nepalese architecture during the Rana era. The GhantaGhar that stands today was rebuilt after the 1990 BS earthquake, standing on the site of the original after the old tower was destroyed by the earthquake.

The Tribhuvan Sadan (Nepali: त्रिभुवन सदन) is a mansion in the Narayanhiti Palace, Kathmandu, Nepal. It is known for being the site of the Nepalese royal massacre where ten members of the royal family, including King Birendra, Queen Aishwarya, and Crown Prince Dipendra were killed. The mansion was formerly occupied by King Tribhuvan and his family and later by Dipendra, Crown Prince of Nepal. The Tribhuvan Sadan was demolished after the orders of the Queen Mother Ratna however It is currently being reconstructed.

Asan (Newar: असं; Nepali: असन, pronounced [ʌsʌn]) (alternative names: Asan Tol असन टोल [ʌsʌn ʈol], Asan Twāh असं त्वाः) is a ceremonial, market and residential square in central Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. It is one of the most well-known historical locations in the city and is famed for its bazaar, festival calendar and strategic location. Asan has been described as a fine Newar example of a traditional Asian bazaar. The Tuladhar, Maharjan, Shrestha, Bajracharya and Shakya castes make up most of the population.Six streets converge on Asan, giving the square a perpetual bustle. The bazaar at Asan attracts shoppers from all over Kathmandu because of the tremendous variety of merchandise sold here, ranging from foodstuffs, spices and textiles to electronics and bullion. Asan is also one of the popular tourist spots in the city because of its architectural sights and charming ambiance. There are banks, restaurants and a post office. Two taxi stands and bus stops are situated on the eastern side.

Thamel (Nepali: ठमेल) is a commercial neighborhood located in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Thamel has been the centre of the tourist industry in Kathmandu for over four decades, starting from the hippie days, when many artists came to Nepal and spent weeks in Thamel. It is considered as the hotspot for tourism inside the Kathmandu valley.Thamel is known by its narrow alleys crowded with various shops and vendors. Commonly sold goods include food, fresh vegetables/fruits, pastries, trekking gear, walking gear, music, DVDs, handicrafts, souvenirs, woolen items and clothes. Travel agencies, small grocery stores, budget hotels, restaurants, pubs and clubs also line the streets. Cars, cycle rickshaws, two-wheelers and taxis ply these narrow streets alongside hundreds of pedestrians. Many restaurants in Thamel serve traditional and continental cuisine. Thamel also acts as the pre-base camp for mountaineers. It boasts a wide range of mountaineering gear shops, foreign money exchange booths, mobile phone shops, along with the numerous travel agents and guest houses. Thamel is widely regarded as the center of Kathmandu's nightlife and is also popular for its wide range of restaurants and cafés, live music and other attractions frequented by both tourists and locals. The places near Thamel are Kwabahal, JP Road, Paknajol, Sanchaya Kosh road.

Ratna Park is a park and surrounding district in central Kathmandu, Nepal. It is named after Queen Ratna, the wife of King Mahendra. It was built for the children and is named after Ratna, the second queen of King Mahendra. It is situated between Rani Pokhari and Tudikhel in the heart of Kathmandu.

Birendra was crowned as the tenth King of Nepal on 24 February 1975, at the age of 29. The coronation was held two years after the death of his father, King Mahendra because the first year was a year of mourning period and the next was considered inauspicious by court astrologers. Representatives from 60 nations attended the ceremony.

Kaathe Swayambhu Shree Gha Chaitya (Nepali:काठे स्वयम्भु श्री घ: चैत्य) is a miniature replica of Swayambhunath. It was built around 1650AD and is one of the popular Tibetan pilgrimage site in Kathmandu, Nepal. The stupa is also called Shree Gha-Shanti Ghat Bhajradhatu Mahachaitya or Kathesimbhu stupa or Kashi Swayambhu.The main stupa is surrounded by smaller chaityas inscriptions, statutes and an ancient cloister similar to Tibetan monastery. A statue of Avalokiteshvara lies before the stupa. The pilgrims who can't make a visit to the Swayambhunath Temple can equally benefit by visiting it. The 13 steps on the spire stood of the stupa signifies the 13 stages to reach Nirvana.

The National School of Sciences (NSS) formerly known as the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST), was established in 1993. It is located in Lainchour, Kathmandu, Nepal. The patron of the institute is Madhav Prasad Baral, who is also the academic in charge and similarly vice principal is Pranita Sharma Baral.The school offers science and management courses, primarily focusing on science. The institute is a part of a larger NIST Foundation which has multiple other branches which offer education from the secondary level up to the graduate levels. The National school of science (NSS) is a premier education institute managed by the NIST foundation that was established three decades ago. The core objective of the foundation, as an apex body, have been to establish education institutions, and provide students academic programmes from pre-school to high-school to university.” Institute is open Sunday to Friday 5AM-5PM. Classrooms are spaciously designed to accommodate thirty-six students. Student furniture is chosen so as to provide the necessary comfort and support for proper seating posture taking into account the long hours students put in inside the classroom. Each classroom is equipped with a fixed projector and access to high internet connectivity to ensure the use of tech in learning. Student and teacher get 1 hour of lunch break per day and 15 mins rest break after every 2 classes. The school has provision of canteen for students and they can bring their lunch if they want. Canteen serves freshly prepared and well-balanced diet of veg and non-veg dishes. Applicants must pass the Entrance examination in a related course to enroll at NIST. Institute has a prescribed set of school uniform which all students must adhere to. Uniform includes shirt, pant, tie, coat and black shoe. Students are also provided with house t-shirt for the ECAs and a sweater for winter. The school provides transportation facilities to students who require bus service to commute to and from the school. Application for the bus service have to be made at the time of admissions and is only available within the periphery of 10 km.
