Walton Hall Park (stadium)

Walton Hall Park in Walton, Liverpool, England is a 130-acre (0.53 km2) park. It was opened to the public on 18 July 1934 by King George V when he visited Liverpool to open the Queensway Tunnel. The origins of the park date back to Henry de Walton, steward of the West Derby hundred in 1199. The park contains two lakes. The larger lake has two islands and is inhabited by several large carps, bream and tench fishes as well as a large amount of skimmer breams, roaches and perches. The smaller lake has a path running around the perimeter. Since September 2019 Everton L.F.C. of the FA Women's Super League have played their home games at the main grandstand.

Walton Hall was a 17th-century historic country house, set in a 300-acre (1.2 km2) estate, which was demolished in the early 20th century. Sometimes referred to as Walton Old Hall, it was situated at the centre of the Walton Hall Park in Walton (formerly Walton-on-the-Hill), Liverpool. Its former residents were Liverpool merchants and the last two families to reside at Walton Hall profited from the Atlantic slave trade. In the 19th century it was the home of Thomas Leyland during his second and third term as Lord Mayor of Liverpool.

Walton is an area of Liverpool, England, north of Anfield and east of Bootle and Orrell Park. Historically in Lancashire, it is largely residential, with a diverse population.

Orrell Park is a district of Liverpool, Merseyside, England. It is a small residential area of northern Liverpool between the larger neighbouring districts of Aintree and Walton-on-the-Hill. It is part of the Liverpool Walton Parliamentary constituency. The area is built upon a raised hillock.

James Patrick Bulger (16 March 1990 – 12 February 1993) was a two-year-old boy from Kirkby, Merseyside, England, who was abducted, tortured, and murdered by two 10-year-old boys, Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, on 12 February 1993. Thompson and Venables led Bulger away from the New Strand Shopping Centre in Bootle, after his mother had taken her eyes off him momentarily. His mutilated body was found on a railway line 2+1⁄2 mi (4 km) away in Walton, Liverpool, two days after his abduction. Thompson and Venables were charged on 20 February 1993 with abduction and murder. They were found guilty on 24 November, making them the youngest convicted murderers in modern British history. They were sentenced to detention at Her Majesty's pleasure, and remained in custody until a Parole Board decision in June 2001 recommended their release on a lifelong licence aged 18. Venables was sent to prison in 2010 for breaching the terms of his licence, was released on parole again in 2013, and in November 2017 was again sent to prison for possessing child abuse images on his computer. The Bulger case has prompted widespread debate about how to handle young offenders when they are sentenced or released from custody.

Walton & Anfield railway station was located near Goodison Park on the Canada Dock Branch to east side of Walton Lane in Walton, Liverpool, England.

Anfield Cemetery, or the City of Liverpool Cemetery, is located in Anfield, a district of Liverpool, Merseyside, England. It lies to the northeast of Stanley Park, and is bounded by Walton Lane (A580 road) to the west, Priory Road to the south, a railway line to the north, and the gardens of houses on Ince Avenue to the east. The cemetery grounds are included in the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens at Grade II*.

Alsop High School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Walton, Liverpool, L4 6SH, England.

Walton on the Hill railway station was located on the Huskisson branch of the North Liverpool Extension Line at the junction of Rice Lane and Queens Drive in Walton, Liverpool, England. The station opened on 1 December 1879. It closed to passengers on 1 January 1918 but continued as a public goods station for a further fifty years, closing completely on 9 September 1968. The through tracks were not lifted until 1980.

Archbishop Beck Catholic College (previously known as Archbishop Beck Catholic High School, and as St Bonaventure's, before that) is a mixed Roman Catholic secondary school and sixth form located in the Aintree area of Liverpool, England. The school is named after George Beck who was Archbishop of Liverpool from 1964 to 1976.It is a voluntary aided school administered by Liverpool City Council and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool. Archbishop Beck Catholic High School gained specialist Sports College status in 2000, and was renamed Archbishop Beck Catholic Sports College. Previously located on Cedar Road, the school moved to a new campus on Long Lane in 2014. After the specialist schools programme ended the school was renamed Archbishop Beck Catholic College. Archbishop Beck Catholic College offers GCSEs, BTECs and OCR Nationals as programmes of study for pupils. Students in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A-levels and further BTECs, which are offered as part of the North Liverpool Partnership consortium of school sixth forms.
