Redbridge, Southampton

Redbridge railway station is a small station in the Redbridge area of Southampton, England. The station is located at the junction of the Wessex Main Line, towards Cardiff Central and the South West Main Line towards Weymouth. It is 81 miles 70 chains (131.8 km) from London Waterloo. The station is operated by South Western Railway and served by the hourly Salisbury to Romsey via Southampton Central 'Figure of Six' local service. A few peak-hour stopping trains on the London Waterloo to Poole main line route also call here. It was first opened in 1847 by the Southampton and Dorchester Railway and became a junction in 1865 when the Sprat and Winkle Line to Romsey and Andover was completed. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Redbridge station was a key location in the movement of gunpowder manufactured in the New Forest.

The River Test is a chalk stream in Hampshire in the south of England. It rises at Ashe near Basingstoke and flows southwards for 40 miles (64 km) to Southampton Water. Settlements on the Test include the towns of Stockbridge and Romsey. Below the village of Longparish, the river is broadly followed by the Test Way, a long-distance footpath.Much of the Test is a 438-hectare (1,080-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is part of the Solent and Southampton Water Ramsar site and Special Protection Area. The river is used for fly fishing for trout from its source to its tidal limit.

Redbridge Community School is a mixed secondary school in west Southampton, Hampshire, in the south of England. The school previously held specialist school status as Sports College. Today it is a foundation school administered by Southampton City Council and the Reach Cooperative Trust.

Totton railway station serves the town of Totton, Hampshire, England and is on the South West Main Line. It is 82 miles 43 chains (132.8 km) down the line from London Waterloo. It is managed by South Western Railway who also operate the only services to stop at the station.

Bartley Water is a two-branch small river in the New Forest district of Hampshire, England. It drains the north and north-east of the New Forest National Park up to the A31 road, a watershed and two villages against the north-east side of the park. Its two upper branches unite in Bartley from where it flows north-east to Eling where it becomes a narrow tidal estuary into the Southampton Water which is an arm of the Solent. The tidal part of the river (but not the natural low water flow) drives the working historic Eling Tide Mill at Eling, where a toll road crosses the river. The river is also an important recreational and wildlife haven, especially at the tidal, Eling end of the river. Despite being shallow in many places the stream is home to brown and rainbow trout that average about 10 to 12 inches (25 to 30 cm) long. Its farthest source is the Mill Stream, which is the main contributor to its south branch and rises north-west of Lyndhurst, Hampshire.

Eling and Bury Marshes is a 112.3-hectare (277-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Totton and Southampton in Hampshire. It is part of Solent and Southampton Water Ramsar site and Special Protection Area, and of Solent Maritime Special Area of Conservation.This site is composed of two dissimilar saltmarshes which are separated by intertidal mudflats. Eling Great Marsh is grazed and has a close sward, while Bury Marsh is ungrazed and has a more diverse flora. The site is part of Southampton Water, a tidal estuary which is nationally important for its populations of waders.

Solent University Football Club are a football club attached to Solent University, and are based in Southampton, Hampshire. The club is affiliated to the Hampshire Football Association, is a FA Charter Standard club and from 2011 to 2020 were members of the Wessex League.

Eling Tide Mill, situated on an artificial causeway in Eling in Hampshire, England, is one of only two remaining operating tide mills in the United Kingdom. The other is Woodbridge Tide Mill in Suffolk. Whilst a mill is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, there is no evidence that there is any connection to the present mill. The current mill was rebuilt roughly two hundred years ago after storm damage in the 1770s. Eling Tide Mill is the focal point of The Eling Tide Mill Experience, created in 2009 as The Eling Experience when the tide mill, nearby Totton & Eling Heritage Centre, and the outdoor walks at Goatee Beach and Bartley Water came under the same management and marketing. The site adopted the current name in 2018 when it reopened after a 3-year refurbishment project largely funded by the Lottery Fund. It is a Grade II* listed building.

Lower Test Valley is a 142-hectare (350-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest near Totton in Hampshire. It is part of Solent and Southampton Water Ramsar site and Special Protection Area, and of Solent Maritime Special Area of Conservation. It is a nature reserve managed by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.The valley has extensive reed beds, tidally flooded creeks, unimproved grassland and scattered willow trees. More than 450 flowering plants have been recorded, including the nationally rare green-flowered helleborine. The reed beds have large populations of wetland breed birds.There is no access to the reserve at high tide.

Eling is a village in the civil parish of Totton and Eling, in the New Forest district, in the county of Hampshire, England. The parish was originally just called Eling, even though the larger town of Totton was described as the "principal place in the parish" from as early as 1875. The village is located 86 miles (138 km) from London and is 5 miles northwest of the centre of Southampton. The name "Eling" means 'Edla's people'. Eling was recorded in the Domesday Book as Edlinges. Eling is known for the Eling Tide Mill, one of only two remaining operating tide mills in the United Kingdom. Whilst a mill at Eling is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, there is no evidence that there is any connection to the present mill, which was rebuilt roughly two hundred years ago after storm damage in the 1770s. Eling has a toll bridge across a bridge which originally formed as a causeway across a dam built to create a mill pond.

Totton is a town in the civil parish of Totton and Eling, in the New Forest district of Hampshire, England. In 2021 it had a population of 28,094.
