North Bay Railway

Peasholm railway station is the southern terminus station of the North Bay Railway in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. It opened to the public in 1931. Although named after Peasholm Park, the station is not located in Peasholm Park, but is actually situated across Burniston Road, adjacent to the Open Air Theatre in Northstead Manor Gardens - part of the historic Manor of Northstead. The station features a single platform with a parallel carriage siding. There is also a balloon loop, to reverse and turn engines, and an engine shed, built in 1931, and enlarged in 2007. In 2007 the operating company announced plans to rebuild the station during the winter of 2007/2008, providing enhanced passenger and staff facilities, including an enlarged Booking Office and a new Cafeteria facility. The new Booking Office is also a souvenir shop and sells light refreshments, which may be consumed in a covered seating area between the shop and the platform. A restaurant, operated by the railway company, is situated adjacent to the station.

Peasholm Park is an oriental themed municipal park located in the seaside town of Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. It opened in 1912 and became a venue for galas, displays and exhibitions. The park was extended to include Peasholm Glen, a natural ravine, in 1924. Attractions include an artificial boating lake, where mock naval battles are staged, a putting green and a champion tree walk. The park suffered a decline in use from the 1970s as the number of holidaymakers visiting Scarborough decreased but it has been restored using Heritage Lottery Funding.

Northstead is an area on the North Bay of Scarborough in North Yorkshire, England. The area near Newlands and Barrowcliff includes Peasholm Park and Scarborough Open Air Theatre. In 2011, the namesake ward had a population of 4,038. Since 2019 the ward no longer covers the area, with most of the old ward now in the Woodlands ward.

Beach railway station was a railway station in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England, built in 1931. The station was an intermediate station on Scarborough North Bay Railway, a miniature railway built to carry tourists from Peasholm Park to Scalby Mills. Although the station was built in 1931, it was not used by passengers until the late 1980s/early 1990s, when it was used as a temporary terminus during the closure of Scalby Mills, due to rebuilding work in conjunction with Scarborough Sealife Centre. The station is now closed again, although the platforms are still extant. Service trains regularly wait on the sidings, as it is a passing loop on the single line railway.

The Floral Hall was an entertainment venue in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. It was demolished in 1989 and replaced by the Scarborough Bowls Centre.

Scarborough Open Air Theatre (commonly abbreviated the SOAT or OAT) is an outdoor theatre in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. It was built in Northstead Manor Gardens in 1932, and originally closed in 1986 but was reopened in May 2010.

The Clifton Hotel is a small, late Victorian hotel in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. The hotel stands on the North Bay cliff tops and was home to soldiers on home duty during both the First World War and Second World War. The location of the building offers commanding views of the North Sea. During the First World War, the hotel was known as the Clarence Gardens Hotel and was home to Wilfred Owen, soldier and war poet, who wrote many of his early war poems while on service and the single occupant of the tower room. A heritage trail blue plaque marks the site today. The hotel is a short distance from Saint Mary's Church and the grave of Anne Brontë.

The Church of St Columba is a Church of England parish church in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. The church was designed by the architect Temple Moore (1856–1920), but was built from 1924 to 1926 by his son-in-law Leslie Thomas Moore. It is a grade II* listed building.The church stands on an irregularly shaped plot, and the buildings has been built to this. The chancel is located in the north-east corner rather than the usual liturgical east. It has a triangular lady chapel. The floor plan of the church has been described as bird-like.As of 2024, St Columba's is united with St James with Holy Trinity Church, Scarborough as the benefice of Scarborough Saint Columba and Saint James with Holy Trinity. The parish is in the Archdeaconry of The East Riding of the Diocese of York.

North Marine Road Ground, formerly known as Queen's, is a cricket ground in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. It is the home of Scarborough Cricket Club which hosts the Scarborough Festival and the Yorkshire County Cricket Club plays a series of fixtures in the second half of the season each year. The current capacity is 9,000, while its record attendance is the 22,946 who watched Yorkshire play Derbyshire in 1947. The two ‘ends’ are known as the Peasholm Park End and the Trafalgar Square End.

Scalby Mills railway station is the northern terminus of the North Bay Railway in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. It opened to the public in 1931. The station has operated continuously as the northern terminus except briefly during the construction of the Scarborough Sealife Centre, when the preceding Beach station formed a temporary terminus. The station features two platforms, either side of a single island platform concourse, together with a run-round (loco-release) track. These three lines meet at the southern end of the station in a series of points, whilst at the northern end they merge at a turntable, which is also the headshunt for locomotive release. The station features a signal box, which is currently in use as a general storage facility. There is also a booking office at the turntable end of the station. There are plans to develop a small museum and exhibition centre at the station, outlining the history of the railway for visitors.
