Silver Lake is an unincorporated community located in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The area is bounded by the villages of Cary to the south and Oakwood Hills to the north.

Oakwood Hills is a village in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. It was founded in 1959. The population was 2,076 at the 2020 census.

Cary-Grove High School is a high school in Cary, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago, USA; it is part of Community High School District 155. In 1995, it was the subject of much media attention after the Fox River Grove level crossing accident that killed seven students. In 2006, on the anniversary of the accident, another Cary-Grove student, Justin Glassmyer, was killed at the same crossing.Located approximately 38 miles northwest of Chicago, the school serves students from Cary, Fox River Grove, the far east side of Crystal Lake, and areas of Barrington, Trout Valley and Oakwood Hills.

Cary is a station on Metra's Union Pacific Northwest Line in Cary, Illinois. The station is located at 100 W. Main St. near Northwest Highway (US 14). Cary is 38.3 miles (61.6 km) from Ogilvie Transportation Center, the southern terminus of the Union Pacific Northwest Line. In Metra's zone-based fare structure, Cary is located in zone H. As of 2018, Cary is the 58th busiest of the 236 non-downtown stations in the Metra system, with an average of 883 weekday boardings. The station consists of two side platforms which serve two tracks. A station house where tickets may be purchased is on the inbound platform. The station house was on the outbound side until 2021, when it was demolished in favor of the new building. Parking is available. As of May 30, 2023, Cary is served by 52 trains (27 inbound, 25 outbound) on weekdays, by 30 trains (15 in each direction) on Saturdays, and by 20 trains (nine inbound, all 11 outbound) on Sundays.

Pingree Road is one of two commuter railroad stations on Metra's Union Pacific Northwest Line in the city of Crystal Lake, Illinois. The station is officially located at 570 Congress Parkway at Pingree Road, and is 41.7 miles (67.1 km) from Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Pingree Road is in zone 4. As of 2018, Pingree Road is the 73rd busiest of the 236 non-downtown stations in the Metra system, with an average of 707 weekday boardings.As of May 30, 2023, Pingree Road is served by 58 trains (30 inbound, 28 outbound) on weekdays, by 30 trains (15 in each direction) on Saturdays, and by 20 trains (nine inbound, all 11 outbound) on Sundays. Pingree Road station is the newest station to be constructed on the UP-NW Line, opening on September 7, 2005. It serves as the southern terminus of the McHenry Branch of the UP-NW line. The actual junction between the main branch and McHenry branch is 0.8 miles (1.3 km) northwest of the station. West of the station, the Main Branch becomes the Harvard Branch. Currently, no bus connections are available at this station.

Trout Valley is a village in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. It was incorporated as a village on 19 March 1996. Per the 2020 census, the population was 515.

Algonquin Township is located in McHenry County, Illinois, with the township office in the city of Crystal Lake. As of the 2020 census, its population was 87,633 and it contained 33,960 housing units. It is the largest township by population in McHenry County. Communities located within the township include Algonquin, Barrington Hills, Cary, Crystal Lake, Fox River Grove, Lake in the Hills, Port Barrington, Lakewood, Oakwood Hills, and Trout Valley.

Nunda Township is located in McHenry County, Illinois. As of the 2010 census, its population was 38,245 and it contained 14,492 housing units. Nunda Township changed its name from Brooklyn Township on December 28, 1850. Nunda Township shares the distinction with McHenry Township as being the two largest townships by land area in McHenry County, at 48.3 square miles (130 km2) each. Nunda is pronounced locally NUN-duh.

Burtons Bridge is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. Burtons Bridge is located on the west bank of the Fox River, 1 mile (1.6 km) south of Holiday Hills. It was named a CDP for the 2020 census, at which time it had a population of 226.
