Truganina is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 22.4 km (13.9 mi) west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Cities of Melton and Wyndham local government areas. Truganina recorded a population of 36,305 at the 2021 census.The suburb is believed to be named after Truganini, who is generally accepted as the last full-blooded Aboriginal Tasmanian woman, as she had visited the area for a short time. Truganina is a rapidly growing suburban area, with Truganina recording a population of 20,687 at the 2016 census. It is bordered roughly by the Skeleton-Waterholes Creek to the west; Boundary Road to the north; Foundation to the east and the Federation Trail to the south. It is home to the football club of Western United. Truganina is one of the key industrial precincts of the City of Wyndham and the key industries are manufacturing and logistics.

Port Phillip Prison is a maximum security prison located at Truganina, Victoria, Australia. It is Victoria's largest maximum security prison, able to accommodate up to 1117 prisoners. The prison is privately operated on behalf of the Government of Victoria by G4S Australia Pty Ltd.

Skeleton Waterholes Creek is a waterway in the outer western and outer south-western regions of Melbourne, Victoria. The creek originates near Mount Cottrell, to the south of Rockbank, and passes through rural land until it reaches the suburban areas of Tarneit, Truganina, Hoppers Crossing, Altona Meadows and Point Cook before it flows into Port Phillip Bay after the Cheetham Wetlands. The creek has important local Aboriginal spiritual significance, and parts of the creek are popular sites for recreation(various).

Westbourne Grammar School is an Australian independent and non-denominational Christian co-educational day school in Truganina, an outer south-western suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. Westbourne has two campuses. The larger campus, opened in 1978, is located on Sayers Road in Truganina and offers classes for students at all levels, kindergarten to the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). A smaller campus is situated in nearby Williamstown and provides education for students up to and including Year 4. There is also a childcare centre at the Truganina campus. The total enrolment is approximately 2200 students, with 1200 at secondary level (Years 7 to 12). Most students come from suburbs in the west of Melbourne, from Werribee and Hoppers Crossing, to Newport and Williamstown, to Sydenham and St Albans, to Footscray and Maribyrnong. The school has a specially designed facility dedicated for international students and a comprehensive English as a Second Language program. It hosts many international students each year. The school has in excess of 150 teachers, support staff and office workers. The principal of Westbourne is Adrian Camm. He has held the position since 2022 and is the fourth principal of the Truganina campus after John Pascoe, Geoffrey Ryan and Meg Hansen. In 2017 the school celebrated its 150th anniversary. Throughout the year the school hosted many events to celebrate its sesquicentenary year, including a school fete and marking the beginning for the construction of the swimming pool. The sesquicentenary year also included rebranding of the school logo.

The Metropolitan Remand Centre (abbreviated and commonly referred to as MRC) is an Australian prison located at Ravenhall, Victoria, approximately 20 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD on the Western Freeway (Deer Park Bypass). The prison is a maximum security remand facility which opened in April 2006 and is operated by the Victorian Department of Justice and Regulation.The majority of MRC's inmates are held awaiting the outcome of their court case, some inmates have been sentenced and are waiting for appeals to be heard and a small number are sentenced prisoners transferred to free up beds at HM Melbourne Assessment Prison.

Tarneit railway station is located on the Deer Park–West Werribee line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the western Melbourne suburb of Tarneit, and it opened on 14 June 2015.Forming part of the Regional Rail Link project, the project of which the station was built as part of, the station was officially opened by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews, and the Commonwealth Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Warren Truss, with services commencing on 21 June 2015. It quickly became the second-busiest V/Line station on their network, after Southern Cross.Part of the southern carpark at the station closed permanantly in May 2023, to make way for the construction of a new bus interchange. Both the northern and southern carparks have been expanded with new spaces, with the additional spaces in the Northern carpark opening in October 2022. The new bus interchange opened on 19 November 2023. The station will eventually become part of the metropolitan railway network under the Western Rail Plan, announced by the Andrews State Government in 2018.

Ravenhall Correctional Centre is a medium-security male prison currently located in Ravenhall, Victoria, Australia. The prison is able to house over 1300 prisoners, and includes capacity for 75 forensic prisoners. It is Victoria's largest prison. The prison is operated by GEO Group Australia, under contract to the Victorian Government.

The Islamic Schools of Victoria, or otherwise known as Al-Taqwa College, is a primary and secondary school located on Sayers Road, in Truganina, Victoria, outside Melbourne, Australia. The College was built on a 50-acre property on the western side of Melbourne. The College was established by the Islamic Trust fund in 1986. The name was changed to Al-Taqwa College in 2010. Next to the main campus on Sayers Road, a mosque (masjid) was built. Al-Taqwa College is a member of Independent Schools Victoria which is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to Independent education.When the school was first established, classes ranged from Prep. to Year 10. As the school grew it expanded and added on VCE (Years 11 and 12). The school has another campus called the Olive Branch, which runs occasional classes in Agriculture and Horticulture. The school has a branch in Indonesia, named the Al-Taqwa College, International Islamic School of Indonesia. In 2015, the number of students at Al-Taqwa College - is close to 2,000 with numbers expected to reach 2,500 students in 2018. Subjects taught at the college include English, Maths, Languages other than English (L.O.T.E.), Information Technology, Business, Art and Physical Education.

Thomas Carr College is a Roman Catholic co-educational day school in Tarneit, Victoria, Australia. It is named after Thomas Joseph Carr, the second Roman Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne.

Dame Phyllis Frost Centre, formerly the Deer Park Metropolitan Women's Correctional Centre (MWCC) is a maximum security women's prison located at Deer Park, Victoria, Australia. Built in 1996, it was the first privately-owned prison in Victoria, but was transferred to public ownership in 2000 and is now run by Corrections Victoria. It also houses medium security and all protection prisoners.

Williams Landing is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 19 km (12 mi) south-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Wyndham local government area. Williams Landing recorded a population of 9,448 at the 2021 census.Williams Landing is rapidly growing and will continue to grow rapidly in the next several years. The first stage of Williams Landing, that of the Wyndham Waters estate along Sayers Road to the north of the suburb, adjacent to Truganina was developed first. The Williams Landing suburb development is forecast to continue development until 2030. Williams Landing is being developed into a Transit-oriented development, major activity and employment centre. The suburb is next to the Williams Landing railway station, just across from the Princes Freeway and for residents of Point Cook, it is accessed via Palmers Road. Construction of Williams Landing commenced in early 2008 and is due to be completed by 2030. Since the Williams Landing railway station opened in April 2013, and the shopping centre opened in December 2014, Williams Landing has been one of the most popular areas for home buyers. Median house value in Williams Landing has increased 37% from 2012 to 2014, second highest in Victoria. Williams Landing has continued its property growth, property prices in Williams Landing rose further 25.9% in the year, according to the latest data released in November 2015.

Derrimut is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 17 km (11 mi) west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Brimbank Local government area. Derrimut recorded a population of 8,651 at the 2021 census.Located on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woiwurrung people, of the Kulin Nation, Derrimut is bounded by Foleys Road to the north, Robinsons Road to the west, the Western Ring Road to the east and Boundary Road to the south. Derrimut is a newly developed suburb in Melbourne. It is named after Derrimut, a nineteenth-century Aboriginal Elder. Derrimut Post Office opened on 1 June 1866 in the rural area, but closed in 1918.The area was home to the "Mount Derrimut" field station of the University of Melbourne from 1964 to 1996 [1]. It focused on agriculture. The site was also used by the Victoria University Western Institute to deliver courses in the late 1980s and early 1990s where students from all around Melbourne come together to study their Business Degrees, some of these students groups still remain close friends until this day. Before being used by the university, it was used by ICI (now Orica) for training and conference purposes. The site is now occupied by the Sunshine Golf Club; the course opened in November 2007.
