The Huntington Beach Public Library (HBPL) is a library system located in Huntington Beach, California. It offers online databases, print and electronic books and magazines, children's programs, computer lab, DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks for anyone with a Huntington Beach Library card. Library cards are free to California residents. Free wireless access is available at all locations without a card. The library is financed and governed by the City of Huntington Beach, California. Volunteers also subsidize the library system by selling used books, operating a gift shop, and running charitable events. In 2015, volunteers donated 57,731 hours towards the library. The first library in Huntington Beach opened in 1909 and has since evolved to a five-location library system: Central, Main Street, Oak View, Helen Murphy, and Banning.

Huntington Beach High School (HBHS) is a public high school in Huntington Beach, California. Built in 1906, it is part of the Huntington Beach Union High School District. HBHS is a California Distinguished School. Huntington Beach High School is also the home of the Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts.

Ocean View High School (OVHS) is a public comprehensive college-prep academy located in Huntington Beach, California. OVHS was established in 1976; their mascot is the Seahawks. Currently, there are approximately 1,470 enrolled students. It is part of the HBUHSD school district, with five other high schools. The school is unique in that it features the only IB Program in the district. The implementation of “embedded tutorial” at the end of each period two years ago resulted in the biggest drop in the total number of D and F grades for students in the district. It features a business academy that has 170 participants, the sole Mandarin Chinese foreign language program in the district, and a college preparation curriculum. In addition, the school boasts the highest senior satisfaction survey results of the district. OVHS is also a two-time California Distinguished School.

Historic Wintersburg is a historic property representing over a century of Japanese immigration to the United States. The property consists of six extant structures on a 4.5-acre (1.8 ha) parcel in Huntington Beach, Orange County, California. The C.M. Furuta Gold Fish Farm and the Wintersburg Japanese Mission are recognized nationally by historians as a rare, pre-1913 Japanese pioneer-owned property with intact physical features that convey the progression of Japanese American history. The property is noted as eligible for the National Register of Historic Places in the City of Huntington Beach General Plan in 2014.Historic Wintersburg is representative of Orange County's early agricultural history and the West Coast's immigration and civil liberties history. Three generations of Japanese American experience are represented: immigration of the Issei in the late 19th century, exclusion and Alien Land Laws of the early 20th century, the incarceration of American citizens of Japanese descent during World War II, and the return to California from World War II confinement in 1945. The property's modern history dates to the land purchase by Japanese immigrant pioneers in 1908, as part of the former land holdings of the Rancho Las Bolsas. Its pre history includes centuries of occupation by the Tongva, a native people of California. The effort to save and preserve Historic Wintersburg began several years after the property was sold in 2004, when news became public that the new owner planned re-zoning to commercial / industrial uses demolition of all historic and cultural resources. Preservationists have been working with the prior owner, Rainbow Environmental, since 2011 and, as of 2014, the current property owner, Republic Services, to purchase the property for historic preservation as a heritage park and for permission to stabilize the structures to prevent demolition by neglect. The goal of historic preservation is to create a permanent heritage site with public park uses.

Rancho Las Bolsas was a 33,460-acre (135.4 km2) 1834 Mexican land grant resulting from the partition of Rancho Los Nietos, located from the coast on inland within present day northwestern Orange County, California. The Spanish name "las bolsas" means "the pockets", and refers to pockets of land amongst the marsh wetlands of the Santa Ana River estuary. The rancho lands, adjacent to the southeast of Rancho La Bolsa Chica, include the present day cities of Huntington Beach, Garden Grove, Fountain Valley and Westminster.

The Huntington Beach Public Library on Triangle Park, also known as the Main Street Branch Library, is located on Triangle Park, 525 Main Street, in the City of Huntington Beach, California. The Main Street Branch Library is one of four branch libraries for the City of Huntington Beach Public Library system and, along with Triangle Park, is one of the 122 historic properties and districts listed on the National Register of Historic Places for Orange County, California. Both the Main Street Branch Library and Triangle Park were listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 13, 2013, by the United States Department of the Interior, Reference Number 13000157.

The International Surfing Museum is a non-profit, 501(c) museum in Huntington Beach, Orange County, California. The museum's goal is to preserve the history of the surfing culture throughout the globe. It is dedicated to Duke Kahanamoku, who is generally regarded as the person who popularized the modern sport of surfing.The International Surfing Museum displays historic surfboards, provides information about legendary surfers, and shows classic surf films. Visitors can examine artistic surfing sculptures and hear surf music. Admission to the museum is currently $2 per visitor. The museum moved and opened in the 411 Olive Avenue location in June 1990. It was established in 1987 by Ann Beasley and Natalie Kotsch. In 1998 Ann Beasley and Natalie Kotsch were added to the Honor Roll, which "was created to honor those individuals who have contributed to surfing and it's [sic] culture and are deserving of recognition, but might not qualify to receive a stone on the [Surfing] Walk of Fame. Honor Roll recipients are selected by the Surfing Walk of Fame Board of Directors."

The Helme–Worthy Store and Residence (also known as the Worthy Building and Residence) is the former M.E. Helme House Furnishing Company and Helme–Worthy residence, a home and attached storefront in Huntington Beach, California. It was listed as a historic structure on the National Register of Historic Places on March 31, 1987.Constructed in 1904, the M.E. Helme House Furnishing Company building is adjacent to the 1880s Helme–Worthy residence, both undergoing stabilization and historic preservation. The Helme–Worthy residence was moved 11 miles by mule team by Matthew and Mary Josephine Helme from the rural countryside near 5th and Verano (now Euclid Street) in Santa Ana, California, to its current location in downtown Pacific City, now Huntington Beach, in 1903. The home and business belonged to Matthew E. Helme, one of the founders of Huntington Beach and one of the township's first mayors. Helme was elected to the board of trustees for the City of Huntington Beach (the city council) in 1909, the year the town incorporated, serving until 1917. He served as mayor in 1916.As of 2017, the buildings are still owned by descendants of Matthew E. Helme, who are conducting the historic preservation work. The former M.E. Helme House Furnishing Company is now an antique store, M.E. Helme Antiques, and retains the original business' name on the building. The National Register of Historic Places application describes the significance of the historic place as retaining "their integrity of location, setting, design, workmanship, materials, feeling and association with Huntington Beach's early settlement period. Although the residence is simple in style, it is the oldest house in town. Both provide the only visual picture of early Huntington Beach and its settlement period."The M.E. The Surf Theatre was a movie theater along the Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach, California. It originally opened as Scott's Theatre in 1925 and later operated as the Roxy Theatre beginning in 1937. In 1941, the venue was renamed the Surf Theatre, an identity under which it became notable for its screening of surf films until its closure in the 1980s. The M. Eugene Durfee-designed Art Deco building was demolished in 1989.

The Huntington Beach Pier is a municipal pier located in Huntington Beach, California, at the west end of Main Street and west of Pacific Coast Highway. At 1,850 feet (560 m) in length, it is one of the longest public piers on the West Coast. (The longest is Oceanside Pier at 1,942 feet (592 m)). The deck of the pier is 30 feet (9.1 m) above sea level, while the top of the restaurant structure at the end of the pier is 77 feet (23 m).The Huntington Beach Pier is on the California Register of Historical Resources. It is one of 123 historic places and districts listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Orange County, California (Ref. No. 89001203).One of the main landmarks of Huntington Beach, also known as "Surf City, USA", the pier is the center of the city's prominent beach culture. A popular meeting place for surfers, the ocean waves here are enhanced by a natural effect caused by the edge-diffraction of open ocean swells around Catalina Island, creating consistent surf year-round.

Bolsa Chica State Ecological Reserve is a natural reserve and public land in Orange County, governed by the state of California, and immediately adjacent to the city of Huntington Beach, California. The reserve is designated by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) to protect a coastal wetland and upland, with both migratory and resident threatened and endangered species of wildlife and wildflowers. The western boundary of the ecological reserve abuts two other state agency lands of State Route 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) managed by Cal Trans and California State Parks (Bolsa Chica State Beach). The term bolsa chica means "little bag" in Spanish, as the area was part of a historic Mexican land grant named Rancho La Bolsa Chica. The reserve is also called many other names, including Bolsa Chica Lowlands, Bolsa Chica Wetlands, and Bolsa Chica Wildlife Refuge.
