East Brighton Park

Black Rock is an area of undeveloped land located near Brighton Marina in the city of Brighton and Hove. It was previously the site of a swimming pool that was demolished in the 1970s.There is also an area just to the East of the Marina that is known as Black Rock. Here at low tides a vast area of Black rocks can be seen that are excellent for nature observations for the likes of ecologists.

Marine Gate is a large block of luxury flats built in 1939 to the design of architects Wimperis, Simpson and Guthrie. It stands at the eastern end of the English seaside resort of Brighton, overlooking Brighton Marina and Black Rock. Originally built with 105 flats, a restaurant and offices, internal reconfiguration has increased the number of flats to 132. The International/Modern-style building is situated in a prominent clifftop position at the eastern entrance to Brighton. Its proximity to a large gasworks resulted in it being damaged by bombs several times during World War II, to the extent that it was Brighton's most bombed building.The block occupies a commanding position at the main entrance to Brighton from the east. Its bold form, with Art Deco features and "nautical touches", has invoked strong opinions among architectural historians and critics. Described variously as "interesting", "elegant" and "comparing favourably with Embassy Court" (a famous building of the same era further west), a 2002 critique by Anthony Seldon placed it among "the city's worst ten buildings".

Brighton Marina is an artificial marina situated in Brighton, England. It features a working harbour and residential housing alongside a variety of leisure, retail and commercial activities. The construction of the marina itself took place between 1971 and 1979, although developments within it have continued ever since. The marina covers an area of approximately 127 acres (0.51 km2).

Roedean is a village in the city of Brighton and Hove, England, UK, immediately to the east of the seaside resort of Brighton.

Whitehawk Football Club is a semi-professional English football club based in Whitehawk, a suburb of the city of Brighton and Hove, East Sussex. The club currently plays in the Isthmian League South East Division. Whitehawk's home ground is the 3126-capacity Enclosed Ground, at present known for sponsorship purposes as the TerraPura Ground, which is situated within East Brighton Park. Nicknamed The Hawks, the club's traditional playing colours are red and white. Prior to 2010, the club had never played above County League level, but after three promotions in four seasons, the Hawks reached Conference South in 2013 as well as the second round of the FA Cup in 2015.

The former French Convalescent Home (now a residential development called The French Apartments) was a seafront sanatorium and rest home built in Brighton, part of the English seaside city of Brighton and Hove, on behalf of the French government. It received patients from the French Hospital in London and served as a home for elderly French nationals. It was sold for redevelopment in 1999 and was briefly threatened with demolition; but English Heritage listed the building at Grade II for its architectural and historical importance, and it was converted into flats. The unusual château-style French Renaissance Revival building has been criticised as "dreary" and "gauche", but is believed to be unique in England and demonstrated innovation in its use of double glazing.

Brighton Lifeboat Station is a Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) station located in the town of Brighton in the English county of East Sussex in the United Kingdom. It was originally established in 1825 as an all-weather lifeboat station. This lifeboat was withdrawn in 1931, and the station now operates as an inshore lifeboat station. As of 2012, the current lifeboat is the Atlantic 85 RNLB Random Harvest (ON 852).

Whitehawk is a suburb in the east of Brighton, England, south of Bevendean and north of Brighton Marina. The area is a large, modern housing estate built in a downland dry valley historically known as Whitehawk Bottom. The estate was originally developed by the local council between 1933 and 1937 and included nearly 1,200 residences. Subsequently, the Swanborough flats were built in 1967, and in the 1970s and 1980s much of the estate was rebuilt by altering the road layouts and increasing the number of houses. Whitehawk is part of the East Brighton ward of Brighton and Hove City Council.

Arundel Terrace is a road in Kemp Town, Brighton containing 1–13 Arundel Terrace, a row of Grade I listed buildings; numbers 12–13 are known as Arundel House. The buildings were built between 1824 and 1828 by Amon Wilds and Charles Busby.

Sussex Square is a garden square in Brighton in East Sussex, England. It is located in the Kemp Town section of the city, noted for its Regency architecture. It is divided by Eastern Road which runs across it. At the southern end it becomes Lewes Crescent continuing on until it meets Marine Parade on the seafront. Arundel Terrace and Chichester Terrace lead off Lewes Crescent running east and west respectively. It has been noted as being larger than London's Grosvenor Square and with a wider span that the Royal Crescent in Bath. Many of its houses are now Grade I listed. During the later years of the eighteenth century Brighton became a fashionable seaside resort and many new streets and squares were added, continuing during the Regency era with the new suburb of Kemp Town. Work started on Sussex Square and adjacent Lewes Crescent in 1823 and the facades of the houses were finished in 1828. The master builder Thomas Cubitt oversaw the construction.Notable residents have included Thomas Read Kemp, the property developer behind the development of the Square who gives his name to Kemp Town, Thomas Cubitt himself and Lord John Russell, Prime Minister during the Victorian Era, all of whom are commemorated by blue plaques.

Kemp Town Estate, also known as Kemp Town, is a 19th-century Regency architecture residential estate in the east of Brighton in East Sussex, England, UK. It consists of Arundel Terrace, Lewes Crescent, Sussex Square, Chichester Terrace, and the Kemp Town Enclosures (the gardens). The estate was conceived and financed by Thomas Read Kemp, designed by Charles Busby and Amon Henry Wilds, and constructed by Thomas Cubitt. Work began in 1823 and it was completed in 1855. It has given its name to the larger Kemptown region of Brighton.

St Mark's Church is a former Anglican church in the Kemptown area of Brighton, part of the English city of Brighton and Hove. Originally intended as the private chapel of the adjacent St Mary's Hall school, it was partly built in 1838 at the request of Frederick Hervey, 1st Marquess of Bristol; but arguments over whether or not it should also be open to the public delayed its completion for more than 10 years. It became the parish church of Kemptown in 1873, but declining attendances resulted in a declaration of redundancy in 1986. At that time it was taken over by the school and became its chapel, nearly 150 years after this was first proposed. The Early English-style stone and concrete structure has been criticised by architectural historians, but has been listed at Grade II by English Heritage for its architectural and historical importance.
