Palazzo Alliata di Villafranca

The Charles V Monument is a monumental sculpture erected in 1631 on Piazza Bologni in Palermo, Sicily. It was initially designed to be placed in the center of the Quattro Canti but was eventually erected in its current location. The statue of Charles V was created by Scipione Li Volsi of the Li Volsi family of Sicilian sculptors. It portrays him as a triumphant Roman Emperor, with reference to his months-long stop in Sicily (including Palermo) following the Conquest of Tunis (1535). The marble pedestal is by Giacomo Cirasolo and Luigi Geraci with sculptures by Giovanni Tagliavia. The Latin inscriptions praise Charles and compare him to "the brothers Robert [Guiscard] and Roger [first Count of Sicily]", who had brought an end to Muslim rule in Palermo in January 1072.

The east flank of the nave faces the Fontana Pretoria, across the piazza from Santa Caterina. San Giuseppe is an example of the Sicilian Baroque in Palermo.

The Cassaro (Sicilian: u Càssaru) is the most ancient street of Palermo. From the late 16th century the street also had the name Via Toledo. Following the unification of Italy, it was officially renamed Via Vittorio Emanuele II, but the old and distinctive name is still in use. The street is rooted in the age of the foundation of Palermo by the Phoenicians. It provides access to a number of important sights, including the Royal Palace (also known as Palazzo dei Normanni) and the Cathedral, two UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Via Maqueda, also known as "Strada Nuova" (New Street), is an important street of Palermo. Together with the Cassaro, it represents the main axis of the historic centre and provides access to a number of important sights, including Teatro Massimo and Fontana Pretoria. The street is named after the Viceroy of Sicily Bernardino de Cárdenas y Portugal, Duque de Maqueda.

Quattro Canti, officially known as Piazza Vigliena, is a Baroque square in Palermo, region of Sicily, Italy; it is considered the center of the historic quarters of the city. The site is the intersection of two major streets in Palermo, the Via Maqueda and the Corso Vittorio Emanuele (also known as the Cassaro), and at this intersection are the corners of all four of the ancient quarters (Cantons or Canti) of Palermo: the Kalsa (SE); Seralcadi (SW); Albergaria (wW); and Castellammare (NE). On the southwest corner stands the church of San Giuseppe dei Padre Teatini. A few steps away along the flank of this church, behind the Southeast corner building, along Via Maqueda is the Piazza and Fontana Pretoria, sandwiched between this church and Santa Caterina. A few more steps reaches San Cataldo and the ancient Norman church of La Martorana. About 500 meters west along the Cassaro is the piazza of the Cathedral of Palermo and the adjacent Palazzo Normani.

Santa Maria delle Grazie di Montevergine (Holy Mary of the Graces) is a Baroque deconsecrated church in Palermo, region of Sicily, Italy. It is located on piazetta Montervergini. The church now functions as a theater: Teatro Nuovo Montevergini. The present edifice was constructed in 1698 to replace a smaller church from the 15th century. It was property of the adjacent former cloistered female Clarissan convent; the site of that former monastery is now the Institute "Filippo Parlatore" designed in the 19th century by Lorenzo Ciprì. The facade of the church was designed by A. Palma (1644-1730). The facade has two statues depicting Saints Clare and Rosalia. In the tympanum above the portal is the heraldic symbols of the Franciscan order, with two crossed arms before a Christian cross. The bell-tower was designed by G.Mariani (1681-1731), but completed by the engineer Del Frago. The single nave was frescoed by Guglielmo Borremans with a depiction of the Glory of the Franciscan Order (1721). Surrounding frescoes by Giuseppe Velasco depict the Lifes of Franciscan Saints. The suppression of the religious order in 1866 led to the suppression of the monastery ad removal of many of the interior artworks, including an Annunciation altarpiece by Pietro Novelli, now on display in the Museo Diocesano di Palermo.

San Giovanni dell'Origlione is a Baroque-style,deconsecrated, Roman Catholic church located on Piazza Origlione, at the intersection of via Saladino and via Santissimo Salvatore in the ancient quarter of Albergaria of the city of Palermo, region of Sicily, Italy. It was once attached to a convent of cloistered Benedictine nuns, but after years of abandon, is presently undergoing restoration.
