Auchterarder ( ; Scottish Gaelic: Uachdar Àrdair, meaning Upper Highland) is a town north of the Ochil Hills in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, and home to the Gleneagles Hotel. The 1+1⁄2-mile-long (2.5-kilometre) High Street of Auchterarder gave the town its popular name of "The Lang Toun" or Long Town. The modern town is a shopping destination with a variety of independent shops and cafes.

The Community School of Auchterarder (TCSoA) (formerly Auchterarder High School) is a small to medium-sized school with a nursery, primary and secondary department located in Auchterarder, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. The school also contains a modern leisure complex consisting of a large indoor hall and outside all-weather courts, which is also home to Auchterarder Gymnastics Club. The school continues to grow with more than 500 pupils in both Primary and Secondary. The building of various housing developments in the local area have contributed to the increasing roll. In addition to the Primary pupils within the Community School of Auchterarder, the feeder schools for the Secondary are Dunning Primary, Aberuthven Primary and Blackford Primary. Old Kincardine Castle was a 13th-century castle near Auchterarder in Perth and Kinross, Scotland. The castle was located on a promontory overlooking the glen. Sir David de Graham of Cardross received the lands of Kincardine from the Earl of Strathearn and started construction of the castle shortly afterwards. It formed a quadrangle, surrounded by a moat. Queen Mary of Scotland stayed at Kincardine on a journey during 1562. In 1579, John Stewart, 4th Earl of Atholl, Chancellor of Scotland, stayed at Kincardine on his way from Stirling, whereupon he suddenly took ill and died at the castle. The castle held out for ten days under artillery fire from the forces of John Middleton, during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms, until the well failed, forcing the garrison to surrender. The castle was dismantled by the Archibald Campbell, 1st Marquess of Argyll in 1645. Only small fragments remain. In 1660, its stones were used to build a new local church in Auchterarder. The new Kincardine Castle was built nearby in the 19th century by James Johnston.

Kincardine Castle is a 19th-century manor house near Auchterarder in Perth and Kinross, Scotland. The building lies 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) south-west of the town, on the Ruthven Water. The Gothic house was constructed in 1801–1803, and is a category B listed building. The remains of an earlier 14th century keep, also named Kincardine Castle, are located nearby (56°16′46″N 3°42′06″W). The ruined keep was demolished in 1645. Little remains today beyond its rectangular foundations.

The 2018 European Golf Team Championships men's team event was an event forming part of the 2018 European Golf Team Championships tournament being played in August 2018 at Gleneagles, Scotland. 16 two-player teams took part in the competition.The event was part of the 2018 European Championships, the inaugural edition of the European Championships, a multi-sport event which is to take place in Berlin, Germany, and Glasgow, Scotland from 2 to 12 August 2018. Sweden 3 took the title from the France 2 team on a second play-off hole - in effect the 20th hole, having finished all square after 18. The Great Britain 3 team won bronze.

Gleneagles Hotel is a hotel near Auchterarder, Scotland. It was commissioned by the Caledonian Railway and opened in 1924. The bandleader Henry Hall performed at the hotel before the Second World War during which it served as a military hospital. There are three tournament-standard golf courses in the grounds and the hotel was redeveloped for the 40th Ryder Cup in 2014. Significant conferences at the hotel have included the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 1977 and the 31st G8 summit in July 2005. It is a Category B listed building.

In a surprise victory, Iceland took the title by one stroke from the Great Britain 3 team. The Sweden 2 team won bronze in the first hole of a playoff with Spain.

The 2019 Solheim Cup was the 16th edition of the Solheim Cup matches, held from 13 to 15 September at the Gleneagles PGA Centenary Course in Scotland. The Solheim Cup is a biennial team competition between the top women professional golfers from Europe and the United States. It is a three-day match play event between teams of twelve players with a similar format to the Ryder Cup. Juli Inkster captained the U.S. team for the third time and Catriona Matthew captained the European team for the first time.After the first two days the competition was tied at 8-all. Europe won the singles 61⁄2–51⁄2 to win the Cup for the first time since 2013.
