East Side Freedom Library

The Arlington Hills Library is a 1916 Beaux Arts library building designed by Charles A. Hausler. It is one of three Carnegie Libraries in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It served as the Arlington Hills Public Library, a branch of the St. Paul Public Library, from 1917 until its relocation in 2014.

The Payne Avenue State Bank was designed in the Beaux-Arts style by W. L. Alban in 1923. Located in a predominantly new immigrant area of Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, the bank initially served Irish, Swedish, German, and Italian immigrants in Saint Paul's East Side neighborhood. The formidable brick building conveyed a sense of permanence to the area residents.

City Academy High School is a charter school in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. The school was created a year after charter school legislation in Minnesota was passed. As a charter school, it operates independently, but is sponsored by the College of St. Catherine. On September 7, 1992, City Academy became the first charter school in the United States to open.City Academy operates in a variety of buildings in Saint Paul. The majority of classes are held at a local recreation center in Saint Paul. City Academy enrolls students 15–21 years of age who have previously dropped out of school or are not currently attending school. The school was created to aid students in at-risk demographics.

The Olaf Lee House was built in 1905 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is significant for its sophisticated Swiss Chalet and American Craftsman design by Clarence H. Johnston, Sr.

Johnson Senior High School is a comprehensive high school for grades 9 to 12 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. Originally named Cleveland High School, the school was renamed after Minnesota governor John A. Johnson in 1911. Johnson is the second oldest high school in the Saint Paul Public Schools district and is only surpassed in age by Central High School. The school has operated in three different buildings since 1897, all located on the East Side of Saint Paul. Johnson is the third largest high school in the district, and enrolls 1647 students. The school offers Advanced Placement classes as well as the University of Minnesota-affiliated College in the Schools program. In 2002 the school received a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation which led to the introduction of eight Small Learning Communities. Johnson offers over 40 extracurricular clubs and organizations including an Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AFJROTC) unit, one of only three in the state. The school was a founding member and currently competes in the Saint Paul City Conference. The school's hockey team has had success, winning four state titles.

The Ann Charlotte and Jacob Hinkel House is a house listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. It was built by ice-dealer Jacob Hinkel in 1873 two miles north of downtown, in a rural area in what was New Canada township; the rural route was named after Horace J. Brainerd (1825-1902) an influential property-owner and politician.

Community of Peace Academy (CPA) is a chartered public school located in the East Side of Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. Founded in 1995 by Dr. Karen Rusthoven, this former K-5 school has now grown to be a PreK-12 school with around 800 students. The school participates in the University of Minnesota's College in the Schools program.

The Church of Saint Casimir is a Roman Catholic church building built in 1904 in the Beaux-Arts style in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The church was founded to serve the needs of Polish American immigrants.

The Theodore Hamm's Brewing Company was an American brewing company established in 1865 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Becoming the fifth largest brewery in the United States, Hamm's expanded with additional breweries that were acquired in other cities, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, and Baltimore.

The 3M Administration Building was the corporate headquarters of 3M in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, from 1940 to 1962. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its national significance in commerce, industry, and invention, and its local significance in architecture. The building reflects the corporation's success in the 1930s and continued rise to international prominence in the 1940s and 50s through its commitment to research, product development, and product diversification. The building is also a distinctive example of Moderne architecture within Saint Paul.

Swede Hollow was a neighborhood of St. Paul, Minnesota. It was one of a large group of neighborhoods collectively known as the East Side, lying just to the east of the near-downtown Railroad Island neighborhood, and at the northwestern base of Dayton's Bluff. It was capped in the north by the sprawling Hamm's Brewery (with its imposing Hamm family mansion), and in the south by the historic Seventh Street Improvement Arches. Although one of the oldest settlements in the city, it was also arguably the poorest as each wave of immigrants settled in the valley. Swedes, Poles, Italians and Mexicans all at one point called the valley home. A similar community just downstream called Connemara Patch also existed for Irish immigrants.

Metropolitan State University (Metro State) is a public university in the Minneapolis–St. Paul, Minnesota metropolitan area. It is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.
