Hamm's Brewery

Swede Hollow was a neighborhood of St. Paul, Minnesota. It was one of a large group of neighborhoods collectively known as the East Side, lying just to the east of the near-downtown Railroad Island neighborhood, and at the northwestern base of Dayton's Bluff. It was capped in the north by the sprawling Hamm's Brewery (with its imposing Hamm family mansion), and in the south by the historic Seventh Street Improvement Arches. Although one of the oldest settlements in the city, it was also arguably the poorest as each wave of immigrants settled in the valley. Swedes, Poles, Italians and Mexicans all at one point called the valley home. A similar community just downstream called Connemara Patch also existed for Irish immigrants.

Metropolitan State University (Metro State) is a public university in the Minneapolis–St. Paul, Minnesota metropolitan area. It is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.

The Adolf Muench House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. The 1884 house designed by Emil W. Ulrici overlooks Saint Paul from the bluffs east of downtown.

The Payne Avenue State Bank was designed in the Beaux-Arts style by W. L. Alban in 1923. Located in a predominantly new immigrant area of Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, the bank initially served Irish, Swedish, German, and Italian immigrants in Saint Paul's East Side neighborhood. The formidable brick building conveyed a sense of permanence to the area residents.

The 3M Administration Building was the corporate headquarters of 3M in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, from 1940 to 1962. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its national significance in commerce, industry, and invention, and its local significance in architecture. The building reflects the corporation's success in the 1930s and continued rise to international prominence in the 1940s and 50s through its commitment to research, product development, and product diversification. The building is also a distinctive example of Moderne architecture within Saint Paul.

City Academy High School is a charter school in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. The school was created a year after charter school legislation in Minnesota was passed. As a charter school, it operates independently, but is sponsored by the College of St. Catherine. On September 7, 1992, City Academy became the first charter school in the United States to open.City Academy operates in a variety of buildings in Saint Paul. The majority of classes are held at a local recreation center in Saint Paul. City Academy enrolls students 15–21 years of age who have previously dropped out of school or are not currently attending school. The school was created to aid students in at-risk demographics.

The Olaf Lee House was built in 1905 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is significant for its sophisticated Swiss Chalet and American Craftsman design by Clarence H. Johnston, Sr.

The Benjamin Brunson House is one of the oldest houses remaining in Saint Paul, Minnesota it was built ca. 1856 in the area known as "railroad island," being surrounded by tracks. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.Benjamin Brunson was born in 1823 in Detroit, Michigan. His father, the Rev. Alfred Brunson, was an itinerant Methodist preacher who traveled a "circuit district" along the Mississippi River between Rock Island, Illinois to Saint Anthony Falls. The elder Brunson made his permanent residence in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. In 1847, Benjamin Brunson came to the area to assist his brother, Ira, in making the first plat of the city of Saint Paul. Ira had led a number of soldiers from Fort Snelling in driving a number of squatters off the military reservation and down to the present site of the city, which was first named "Pig's Eye" after its founder Pierre "Pig's Eye" Parrant. The first plat is credited to Benjamin, and he surveyed many other additions to Saint Paul and prepared plats for neighboring communities in Minnesota. Brunson also served in the first Minnesota Territorial Legislature and served as a justice of the peace, a superintendent of mail carriers, a merchant at the Old Steamboat Landing, and as a civil engineer for the Lake Superior and Mississippi Railroad. He built his house in 1855 in Brunson's Addition to the City of Saint Paul, which was a semi-rural area at the time but is now within an inner-city warehouse and industrial district. He lived in Saint Paul until his death in 1898.

Euclid View Flats is a historic apartment building in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, constructed 1894–1895. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its local significance in architecture. Euclid View Flats is a sophisticated early example of an apartment building designed to attract the middle class. Prior to the 1890s, multi-family housing in the United States was overwhelmingly in the form of tenements catering to the poor. Euclid View Flats provided an acceptable alternative to the single-family houses that dominated middle-class residential options in Saint Paul and the Dayton's Bluff neighborhood in particular. In addition to representing a change in housing preferences, the building reveals in its transitional architecture a shift from the highly ornamented Queen Anne style to the more restrained Romanesque Revival style during the same period.Euclid View Flats is currently being rehabilitated, with plans to offer all 12 units as affordable housing. The building had fallen into some disrepair and was then vacant beginning in 2010.

The Schornstein Grocery and Saloon is a commercial/residential building in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. It was built in 1884 for $5,000 in the French Second Empire style, this Dayton's Bluff business was designed by architect Augustus F. Gauger (1852-1929). It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.It was built by William Schornstein, "a prominent member of the local German American community," who lived on the premises with his wife Wilhelmina from 1885–1920, running a grocery and saloon. "The establishment was especially popular among the area’s German-Americans and there was a large hall on the third floor for meetings and special events."

The Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary is a city park in the Mississippi River corridor in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Just east of the city's downtown district, the sanctuary includes towering limestone and sandstone bluffs that date back more than 450 million years, spring-fed wetlands, abundant bird life, and dramatic views of the downtown Saint Paul skyline and Mississippi River. The park was opened to the public on May 21, 2005, and was named after its early supporter U.S. Representative Bruce Vento.

The East Side Freedom Library is an independent, non-profit library in the East Side neighborhood of Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. Founded in 2013 by Beth Cleary and Peter Rachleff, it has occupied the Arlington Hills Carnegie library building since leasing it from the city of Saint Paul in 2014. The library's collections and programming focus on the labor history and diverse immigrant communities of the neighborhood. In summer of 2022, the East Side Freedom Library's board of directors hired ethnographer and community advocate Saengmany Ratsabout as the library's first paid full-time executive director.
