Wacton, Norfolk

Forncett railway station was a railway station in Forncett, South Norfolk located 104 miles from London Liverpool Street. It was opened in 1849 when Norwich and Ipswich were connected by the Eastern Union Railway in 1849. Between 1881 and 1951 it was a junction for a short route to Wymondham and was closed as a result of the Beeching Axe with other smaller stations between Norwich and Ipswich.

Long Stratton High School is a secondary school located in the town of Long Stratton in the English county of Norfolk. It educates children from ages 11 to 16 and has around 650 pupils at any one time. The school has a specialism in teaching Mathematics and ICT.

Forncett Meadows is a 5.2-hectare (13-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest west of Long Stratton in Norfolk.This site in the valley of the River Tas has a variety of grassland types due to variations in soil and wetness and a long history of management by non-intensive grazing. There are also ponds and areas of scrub and alder woodland.The site is private land but it can be viewed from a footpath which goes through it.

Forncett is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 10.76 km2 (4.15 sq mi) and had a population of 1,000 in 381 households at the 2001 census, increasing to 1,126 at the 2011 census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of South Norfolk. It includes the villages of Forncett St Peter's, Forncett St Mary and Forncett End.

St Peter's is one of seven churches in the parish of Upper Tas Valley All Saints in south Norfolk, ten miles south of Norwich, UK. The full name is St Peter's and St Paul's, commonly known as St Peter's, and this was formerly the parish church for Forncett St Peter. It is an active place of worship and a nationally significant Grade I listed building. Its Anglo-Saxon round tower, built about 1000 AD, is considered one of the best in the country. There are other Anglo-Saxon features. Much of the main building is of later, mainly 14th and 15th century, date. Significant features are: the 1485 Drake tomb, a unique ancient staircase in the tower, carved pew ends, fine ledger slabs in the chancel and nave, good examples of Victorian coloured glass windows, and the ring of six bells. There is a comprehensive modern guide to the church. There is a connection with William Wordsworth: his sister, Dorothy, lived at the rectory from 1788 until 1794 with her uncle, the rector, William Cookson.The church is on the Heritage at Risk Register. There is critical need for repair and a programme of renovation. A community group, The Friends of St Peter's, was set up in 2019 to lead a major fund-raising campaign.

South Norfolk is a local government district in Norfolk, England. It historically consisted of two villages; the larger, Stratton St. Mary, is to the south, and the other, Stratton St. Michael, is to the north. It had a population of 4,424 in the 2011 Census. South Norfolk Council are based in the town.

Forncett St Mary is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Forncett, in the South Norfolk district, in the county of Norfolk, England. The village is located 7.4 miles (11.9 km) east of Attleborough and 10 miles (16 km) south-west of Norwich, close to the course of the River Tas. In 1931 the parish had a population of 153.

Aslacton Parish Land is a 4.4-hectare (11-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest west of Long Stratton in Norfolk.This site has wet and dry unimproved meadows with a rich flora. Uncommon species include marsh arrowgrass, yellow rattle, fragrant orchid, common butterwort and adder's tongue. Snipe often breed there.The site is private land with no public access.

Aslacton Mill is a Grade II listed tower mill at Aslacton, Norfolk, England which is derelict.

Aslacton is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is situated between Norwich and Diss, and is near Great Moulton. The closest town to Aslacton is Long Stratton. The village name means 'Aslakr's farm/settlement'. The civil parish has an area of 4.88 square kilometres and in the 2001 census had a population of 416 in 161 households, the population increasing to 434 at the 2011 census, then to 445 at the 2021 census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of South Norfolk.[1]Its church, dating from 996AD, St Michael is one of 124 existing round-tower churches in Norfolk. Aslacton has a primary school. It used to have a pub, now the building is used as a private residence. The village post office has closed. As of recent, it also has floristry services.

The civil parish of Tharston and Hapton lies in the south of the county of Norfolk, England. It encompasses the two villages of Tharston and Hapton, covering 9.26 km2 (3.58 sq mi). The parish had a population of 599 in 231 households at the 2001 census, increasing to 793 at the 2011 census.
