Vyšehrad Cemetery

The Vyšehrad Chapter (Czech: Vyšehradská kapitula), officially the Royal Collegiate Chapter of Ss. Peter and Paul at Vyšehrad (Czech: Královská kolegiátní kapitula sv. Petra a Pavla na Vyšehradě), is a collegiate chapter established at the church dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul in Vyšehrad (now in Prague) around 1070 by Vratislaus, the first king of Bohemia.

The Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul is a neo-Gothic church in Vyšehrad fortress in Prague, Czech Republic. Founded in 1070–1080 by the Czech King Vratislav II, the Romanesque basilica suffered a fire in the year 1249 and has been rebuilt in Gothic and later in neo-Gothic style. The basilica features an impressive stone mosaic above its entry, and its twin 58 m towers can be seen atop a hill to the south from along the Vltava River in central Prague.Behind the church is located large park and Vyšehrad cemetery, the final resting place of many famous Czechs, including author Karel Čapek and composer Antonín Dvořák. In 2003 the church was elevated to basilica by Pope John Paul II.

The statue of Saint Wenceslas is an outdoor sculpture by Johann-Georg Bendl from 1680, installed at Vyšehrad, Prague, Czech Republic. The statue formerly stood in the middle of Wenceslas Square, near Grandhotel Evropa, but was moved to Vyšehrad in 1879.

Libuše and Přemysl (Czech: Libuše a Přemysl) is an outdoor sculpture by Josef Václav Myslbek made in 1889-1897 for Palacký Bridge. Damaged from American bombing on February 14, 1945, bridge statues were removed in 1948 in connection with the bridge reconstruction and installed at Vyšehradské sady in Vyšehrad, Prague, Czech Republic. The statue was one at the New Town's side of Vltava and it was heavily damaged and repaired until reinstalled with the other three only in 1977. It depicts Přemysl the Ploughman and Libuše, the mythical Czech rulers settled in the 8th century at Vyšehrad.

Slavín is a tomb at the Vyšehrad Cemetery in Prague. Many notable Czech personalities are interred in the tomb.

Záboj and Slavoj (Czech: Záboj a Slavoj) is an outdoor sculpture by Josef Václav Myslbek, installed at Vyšehradské sady in Vyšehrad, Prague, Czech Republic. It depicts the heroic brothers from the manuscripts of Dvůr Králové and of Zelená Hora. The brothers were leaders of the rebellion against invasion of the German troops of Charlemagne and allegedly led the victorious battle in 805.

Lumír and Song (Czech: Lumír a Píseň) is an outdoor sculpture made by Josef Václav Myslbek in 1889-1897 for Palacký Bridge. Damaged from American bombing on February 14, 1945, statues were removed in 1948 in connection with the bridge reconstruction and installed at Vyšehradské sady in Vyšehrad, Prague, Czech Republic. The statue was previously at the New Town's side of Vltava and it was installed in the gardens with two other statues from the opposite Smíchov's side. The fourth statue, Libuše and Přemysl, was heavily damaged and repaired until reinstalled with the other three in 1977.A bronze model of this statue is placed in the old town hall of the Prague Old Town.It depicts the legendary bard Lumír and Píseň ("song"). According to Dvůr Králové Manuscript Lumír refused to sing a hymn for the winners of The Maidens' War, and sings instead his last song to the Vyšehrad, then breaks his instrument. Albeit lacking authenticity, the story was in the 19th century considered a symbol of national conscience.

Ctirad and Šárka (Czech: Ctirad a Šárka) is an outdoor sculpture by Josef Václav Myslbek, installed at Vyšehradské sady in Vyšehrad, Prague, Czech Republic. It depicts Ctirad and Šárka of Slavic mythology and the Bohemian tale The Maidens' War, when women after the death of Libuše built the castle Děvín lying on the opposite hill of the Vyšehrad.

Devil's Column (Czech: Čertův sloup) is a formation of three stone columns, located in Vyšehrad, Prague, Czech Republic.For the first time, it was mentioned in the book Bellum hussiticum as fragments of one column, standing on the cemetery of the St. John Baptist Decapitation church in Vyšehrad. According to the story of about 1700, one priest made a bet with the devil, that he would celebrate Mass before the devil brings a column from the St. Peter's basilica in Rome. The devil lost and, out of anger, he threw the column from a height to the ground. According to geologists the column is cut of granodiorite and it originates from a central Bohemian quarries in surroundings of Sázava.

Vyšehrad (Czech for "upper castle") is a historic fort in Prague, Czech Republic, just over 3 km southeast of Prague Castle, on the east bank of the Vltava River. It was probably built in the 10th century. Inside the fort are the Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul and the Vyšehrad Cemetery, containing the remains of many famous Czechs, such as Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana, Karel Čapek, and Alphonse Mucha. It also contains Prague's oldest Rotunda of St. Martin, from the 11th century.
