The Indian Bend Wash area is a Superfund cleanup site in Scottsdale and Tempe, Arizona. It was declared a Superfund site in 1983 after industrial solvents were discovered to have contaminated the groundwater in an approximately 13-square-mile (34 km2) area. It is one of the largest EPA sites in terms of volume of groundwater treated, estimated at 61.3 billion US gallons (232,000,000 m3).During the 1960s, it was typical for companies to dispose industrial solvents directly into the ground and into dry wells. In 1981, volatile organic compounds (VOC) were detected in Tempe and Scottsdale city wells, including trichloroethylene (TCE), tetrachloroethylene (PCE), and chloroform. The wells were shut down immediately, and the area was declared a Superfund site in 1983. Potentially responsible parties Motorola, Siemens, GlaxoSmithKline, along with several smaller companies, have paid for the approximately $100 million in cleanup costs. Cleanup has consisted of several stations that pump and treat groundwater. The area consists of two cleanup sites, the North Indian Bend Wash (NIBW) Superfund site located in Scottsdale (approximately 8 square miles), and the South Indian Bend Wash (SIBW) Superfund site located in Tempe. For eight days in October 2007, trichloroethylene tainted water was released into the water supply of 1500 residents of Scottsdale by the Arizona American Water Company.

Los Arcos Mall was an enclosed shopping mall on the southeast corner of Scottsdale and McDowell roads in Scottsdale, Arizona. The mall, which operated from 1969 to 1999, featured a Spanish architectural motif and took its name from "The Arches" in Spanish. In the 1990s, the mall lost shoppers and both of its anchors, particularly to the Scottsdale Fashion Square center, which was closer to population growth in the city. The last anchor, Sears, left Los Arcos for Fashion Square in February 1999. The property then became the subject of years of highly controversial development proposals, including a proposed arena for the Phoenix Coyotes hockey team that ended amid infighting between the developer and the city, and a proposed retail redevelopment that crumbled in the face of heavy neighborhood opposition. After both of these plans failed, the site was sold to the Arizona State University (ASU) Foundation and redeveloped as SkySong, a technology and innovation-focused complex with office, retail, and residential components.

Scottsdale Stadium is a ballpark located in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States. Designed by the architect of the Baltimore Orioles’ Camden Yards, Populous, the stadium was expanded to its current state in 1992 and holds 12,000 people. It has been the spring training home of the San Francisco Giants since 1984, when the capacity was just 4,721. The stadium hosted three games of the 2006 World Baseball Classic.

The Scottsdale Public Library is the public library system for Scottsdale, Arizona, and is owned and operated by the City of Scottsdale. As of 2023 the library system serves Scottsdale’s 226,918 residents, residents of Maricopa County, and numerous visitors from around the world. The library’s collection contains over 800,000 items (including books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, audio books and more). The library circulates around 2.9 million items per year. The library is a member of the Urban Libraries Council.

The Little Red Schoolhouse is a former school building located in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was originally known as the Scottsdale Grammar School and is now home to the Scottsdale Historical Museum.The Little Red Schoolhouse was built in 1909 to replace an earlier one-room frame schoolhouse that was built in 1896. The new schoolhouse is a two-classroom structure built of red brick at a cost of $4,500. In addition to the two large classrooms, there is an entrance hall, two small rooms for storage, and a full-sized basement that was used as a church and a community center in the early years. The schoolhouse was later used as the Scottsdale City Hall and Justice Court, the Scottsdale Public Library and then the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce.The Scottsdale Historical Society was established in 1969 to save the Little Red Schoolhouse from being demolished for the development of the Scottsdale Mall. Over the next several years, the school was restored to its original condition and now includes a classroom exhibit meant to appear as it did in 1910. In November 1991, the Scottsdale Historical Society opened the building to the public as a local history museum and in 1994 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West is located in Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona on the former site of the Loloma Transit Station (N Marshall Way and E 1st St), and opened in January 2015. The two-story, 43,000-square-foot museum features the art, culture and history of 19 states in the American West, Western Canada, and Mexico.

The 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship was a golf tournament contested from May 27 – June 1 at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was the 83rd NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship. The team championship was won by the Texas Longhorns who won their fourth national championship by defeating the Arizona State Sun Devils in the championship match play round 3–2. The individual national championship was won by Gordon Sargent from Vanderbilt University.

The 2023 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship was a golf tournament contested from May 26–31 at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was the 84th NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship. It included both team and individual championships.

The 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship was a golf tournament contested from May 28 – June 2 at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was the 82nd NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship. The team championship was won by the Pepperdine Waves who won their second national championship by defeating the Oklahoma Sooners in the championship match play round 3–2. The individual national championship was won by Turk Pettit from Clemson University.
