Vestbirk

Vestbirk Højskole was a folk high school in the village of Vestbirk in Horsens Kommune from 1884 to 2006. Since its closure, the buildings have been used by the Vestbirk Musik- & Sportsefterskole (Vestbirk Music and Sports Efterskole).

Østbirk is a town, with a population of 2,644 (1 january 2025), in Horsens Municipality, Central Denmark Region, in Denmark, situated 11 km east of Brædstrup, 16 km southwest of Skanderborg and 15 km northwest of Horsens. Østbirk Church, where the admiral and naval hero Peder Skram is buried, is located in the town.

Østbirk Church (danish: Østbirk Kirke) is a parish church in Horsens Municipality. It is overseen by the Diocese of Aarhus in the Church of Denmark. The Church was constructed around the year 1200 and features romanesque and gothic architecture. It is decorated with 16th century frescos along with intricate woodwork and carvings.

Enner Mark Prison (Danish: Enner Mark Fængsel), until February 2016 the State Prison of East Jutland (Danish: Statsfængslet Østjylland), is a modern and purpose-built closed prison in Denmark. It is the first since the establishment of the State Prison in Ringe in 1976. The prison replaced the 150-year-old and run-down Horsens State Prison and was opened on 2 October 2006 by the then Minister of Justice Lene Espersen. The prison is located at Enner Mark near the village of Lund, 10 kilometers west of Horsens, East Jutland.Together with Storstrøm Prison, the prison is considered Denmark's most secure and is often considered one of the most secure in the Nordic countries. A key feature is the division of the prison into five independent and isolated parts within a 6 meter high, 1,400 meter long prison wall. The division is designed to improve security and give better quality of life for inmates serving a sentence. Physically separating more vulnerable inmates is intended to help prevent violence and exploitative relationships between the prisoners.The prison has capacity for 228 inmates in total, divided between the separate parts, who are mostly from Funen and Jutland. There are subsections for social interaction, the serving of short prison sentences or remand, psychological help, drugs rehabilitation (in the so-called 'contract divisions', (Danish: kontraktafsnit), where prisoners can self-refer and agree to especially strict drug controls), and medical facilities. Additionally there are special facilities for inmates serving gang-related sentences, particularly problematic prisoners, and isolation. Since 1 January 2014, there has also been a section for inmates awaiting extradition. Since 2017, the governor is Anette Bækgaard Jakobsen.

Voerladegård Parish (Danish: Voerladegård Sogn) is a parish in the Diocese of Aarhus in Skanderborg Municipality. The parish contains the village of Voerladegård. Voerladegård Parish was a part of Brædstrup Municipality until 1 January 2007 but except the rest of the municipality, who merged into the new Horsens Municipality, Voerladegård Parish merged into the new Skanderborg Municipality.

Klostermølle was originally a watermill, serving the now demolished Voer Abbey once situated nearby. The mill is located at the western end of lake Mossø. In 1872, the monks' old mill — operated as a grain mill since the time of the Protestant Reformation — was converted to a sawmill. The wood waste also served as feedstock for a cardboard factory, driven by water power. The finished cardboard was shipped by steamboat across the lake to the railway station in Alken. Production continued until 1974, when some of the buildings were destroyed by fire; the long lumber drying shed was spared. The Danish Forest and Nature Agency has purchased the site as part of a program of nature conservation of the area surrounding Mossø and Vissing Abbey. Today, it is both a nature center and the headquarters for the Danish youth organization Nature and Youth (Natur & Ungdom).

Voer Abbey (Danish: Voer Kloster) was a Benedictine abbey in Voerladegård parish in Skanderborg Municipality, Denmark. It was situated on the Gudenå River near Klostermølle, site of the former monastery mill.

Yding Skovhøj in Horsens municipality, Jutland is one of Denmark's highest points.

Øm Abbey (Øm Kloster) was a Cistercian monastery founded in 1172 in the Diocese of Aarhus near the town of Rye, between the lakes of Mossø and Gudensø in central Jutland, Denmark. It is one of many former monasteries and abbeys in the highland region of Søhøjlandet.

Mossø is Denmark's third largest freshwater lake and Jutland's largest, as measured by surface area. The lake is located just west of the city of Skanderborg in east Jutland, but is part of both Skanderborg Municipality and Horsens Municipality. Mossø lies in the middle of the area and landscape known as Søhøjlandet (English: The Lake-highland). There is a small lake named Mossø in the forest of Rold Skov in Himmerland.

Ejer is a village located near Ejer Bavnehøj in the Skanderborg Municipality of Denmark. The placename, of uncertain etymology, was first recorded in 1437 as Eyer, and in 1492 as Eyerd.

Madum Lake (Danish: Madum Sø) is the largest lake in the Himmerland peninsula of Jutland, Denmark. The lake covers an area of 2.04 square kilometres (0.79 sq mi), and has a depth of 7.5 metres (25 ft) at its deepest point. It is both an important bird sanctuary and a popular bathing spot.
