Newton, Hampton Court

Marlbrook is an industrial and business park on the borders of and split between the civil parishes of Hope under Dinmore and Newton, in Herefordshire, England. The park is adjacent to the River Lugg and the A49 road, 4.5 miles (7 km) south of Leominster and 9.5 miles (15 km) north from Hereford. Just south of the park is the junction of the A49 with the A417 road towards Ledbury and Gloucester. The Cadbury factory at Marlbrook processes 180 million litres of fresh milk, 56,000 tonnes of sugar and 13,000 tonnes of cocoa liquor each year to produce milk chocolate crumb which is blended with cocoa butter, refined and turned into milk chocolate at other factories. On 23 June 2006, the factory was in the news when more than a million chocolate bars were to be removed from sale through fears that they might have been contaminated with salmonella by a leaking pipe.

Hope under Dinmore is a village and civil parish in Herefordshire, England. The village is on the A49 road, 4 miles (6 km) south of Leominster and 9 miles (14 km) north of Hereford, and on the Welsh Marches railway line. The railway passes under Dinmore Hill through the split-level 1,051-yard (961 m) long Dinmore Tunnel. Dinmore railway station closed in 1958, but the line remains open. The church has a tower and is dedicated to Saint Mary the Virgin.The parish had a population in mid-2010 of 343, increasing to 412 at the 2011 Census.The 15th-century Hampton Court Castle lies east of the village. It was built in 1472 by Sir Rowland Lenthall who had distinguished himself at the Battle of Agincourt, taking so many prisoners that he was able to fund the completion of the building. It was later the ancestral home of the Earl Coningsby, and in the nineteenth century, passed into the hands of Richard Arkwright. Dinmore Manor, in a valley south-west of the hill, was founded as a preceptory of the Knights of St John of Jerusalem. The ruins are still visible on the hillside above the village. It is the private residence of mobile phone tycoon Martin Dawes and no longer open to the general public.Winsley House, in the west of the parish, is a Grade II listed 14th-century farmhouse with later additions.Most of the population of the village is centred in the housing estate called Cherrybrook Close, but the village extends up two roads, one of which leads to Westhope Common. The industrial and business park of Marlbrook is within the north-east of the parish, and partly in the neighbouring parish of Newton. Ford Bridge railway station was a station in Marlbrook, Herefordshire, England. The station was opened in 1854 and closed in 1954. After closure, the station building was converted to a private house.

Dinmore Hill rises steeply above the River Lugg in Herefordshire, England and is effectively the prominent eastern ridge of an area of high ground which reaches a height of 236 m (774 ft) at Birley Hill some 4 to 5 km (2+1⁄2 to 3 mi) to the west. It lies roughly midway between the town of Leominster to the north and the city of Hereford to the south, the A49 road which links them climbing the hill in a series of sweeping bends. The north–south railway lines run within the two Dinmore Tunnels beneath the hill. In civil engineering preparation for the building of the present Hereford railway station, and as the only company planning to enter the town from the north, in 1849 the Shrewsbury and Hereford Railway company built a brick works north of Dinmore Hill, which was fed by clay from the earthworks of the tunnel being dug underneath it. In 1852, 2+1⁄2 years later and having used 3,250,000 bricks, the first tunnel was completed.At the northern foot of the hill is the hamlet of Hope under Dinmore.Queen's Wood Country Park sits within woodland atop the hill to the west of the road. An area of the flat hilltop to the east of the road was the subject of an archaeological dig by the Time Team television programme in 2009. Its three-day excavation revealed massive ditches which were interpreted as demarcating an Iron Age camp.

Hampton Court Castle, also known as Hampton Court, is a castellated country house in the English county of Herefordshire. The house is in the parish of Hope under Dinmore 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Leominster and is a Grade I listed building, which is the highest category of architecture in the statutory protection scheme.The castle and grounds can be visited by the public and are also available as a venue for weddings and other events.

Queen's Wood Country Park is the only designated country park in the county of Herefordshire. A tourist attraction on Dinmore Hill, it has two components. Its arboretum is a 47-acre (0.19 km2) tree collection with over 1,200 rare and frequently exotic trees. Queens Wood's ancient woodland is a 123-acre (0.50 km2) lightly coppiced woodland to maintain a semi-natural habitat which is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Local Nature Reserve (LNR). The site is managed by a partnership between Herefordshire Wildlife Trust and New Leaf.

Dinmore Tunnel is the name given to two railway tunnels located on the former Shrewsbury and Hereford Railway (S&HR) line between Hereford station and Leominster station. The first tunnel (currently the 'up' tunnel) was built in 1853, with the second tunnel (the 'down' tunnel) being added in 1891. Both are still in use and are jointly the 15th longest tunnels on the former Great Western Railway. To the south of the tunnel was Dinmore railway station, which closed in 1958. They are located just south to the village of Hope Under Dinmore and tunnels under Queen's Wood Country Park & Arboretum.

The River Arrow (Welsh: Afon Arwy) is a river in the Welsh Marches, rising in Powys in Wales, then flowing into the English county of Herefordshire. It rises near Gwaunceste Hill, then flows south-east through Newchuch and Michaelchurch-on-Arrow. It forms a short section of the England/Wales boundary, before flowing into Herefordshire, and through the town of Kington. It proceeds east through Herefordshire, passing Lyonshall, Staunton-on-Arrow, Pembridge, Eardisland, Arrow Green, Monkland, Ivington, Broadward, and has its confluence with the River Lugg south of Leominster, at Stoke Prior. Its tributaries include the Gilwern Brook. Others are the Honey Lake Brook, which passes through Ivington Green and Back Brook which joins the Arrow at The Meetings in Kington.

Dinmore railway station served the villages of Bodenham and Hope under Dinmore, Herefordshire, England between 1853 and 1958.

Ford and Stoke Prior is a civil parish in the county of Herefordshire, England, and is 10 miles (16 km) north from the city and county town of Hereford. The closest large town is the market town of Leominster, adjacent at the north-west. The parish includes the hamlet of Ford, the village of Stoke Prior, and the medieval parish churches of St Luke and St John of Jerusalem. At the west of the parish is the site of a Romano-British settlement.
