Withernsea Community Hospital

Withernsea railway station is a disused railway station that was the terminus of the North Eastern Railway's Hull and Holderness Railway in Withernsea, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was opened by the Hull and Holderness Railway on 27 June 1854. The station was closed to passengers on 19 October 1964 and to goods traffic on 3 May 1965.

Withernsea Lighthouse is an inland lighthouse that stands in the middle of the town of Withernsea in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The lighthouse stands 127 feet (38 m) high and took 18 months to build between 1892 and 1894. Formerly owned and run by Trinity House of London, it ceased operation on 1 July 1976 and is now used as a museum.

Withernsea Pier was a pier in the town of Withernsea, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The pier was constructed between 1875 and 1877 to attract daytrippers, but was beset by accidents from the outset. Storms and ship-caused damage led to the pier being closed by 1893, and it was completely dismantled by 1903, leaving only the distinctive castellated pier towers on the seafront, which are still there to this day. In the 21st century, a proposal was floated with the idea of rebuilding the pier to a length of 500 feet (150 m), less than half the distance of the old pier.

Withernsea is a seaside resort town and civil parish in Holderness, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Its white inland lighthouse, rising around 127 feet (39 m) above Hull Road, now houses a museum to 1950s actress Kay Kendall, who was born in the town. The Prime Meridian crosses the coast north-west of Withernsea. At the 2011 UK census, Withernsea had a population of 6,159, an increase on the 2001 UK census figure of 5,980.

Withernsea High School is a coeducational secondary school located in Withernsea in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The school was officially opened on Thursday 28 April 1955 by Edward Wood, 1st Earl of Halifax. In December 2014 works began on a rebuild and refurbishment of the school buildings, with the works completed in summer 2016. Today it is a community school administered by East Riding of Yorkshire Council. Withernsea High School offers GCSEs and Cambridge Nationals as programmes of study for pupils.

Withernsea Lifeboat Station is located in the town of Withernsea, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is one of four RNLI stations in the East Riding of Yorkshire, with another five in North Yorkshire. A lifeboat was first stationed at Withernsea in 1862, by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). The station was closed in 1913, when the lifeboat was relocated to Easington. It was reopened as an Inshore lifeboat station in 1974. The station currently operates a D-class (IB1) Inshore lifeboat Mary Beal (D-837), on station since 2019.

Owthorne is an area of the town of Withernsea, in the civil parish of Withernsea, on the Holderness coast in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Owthorne was originally a separate town to the north of Withernsea, one of many settlements that have been lost to coastal erosion. Old Withernsea was largely destroyed in the 15th century, making Owthorne the major of the two settlements. However, large parts of it also fell victim to the sea in the 19th century. The church and much of the town were washed away in 1816, and the remainder of the churchyard in 1838. When modern Withernsea expanded, it absorbed the remains of Owthorne in 1891. The church of Owthorne was dedicated to St Peter. Salvaged stones from its ruin were probably used to build St Mary's church at Rimswell. In 1931 the civil parish had a population of 34. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished and merged with Hollym and Rimswell.

Hollym is a small village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, in an area known as Holderness. It is situated approximately 2 miles (3 km) south of Withernsea and is on the A1033 road. According to the 2011 UK Census, Hollym parish had a population of 513, an increase on the 2001 UK Census figure of 447. Hollym airfield lies just to the north of the village and is suitable for light aircraft. The parish church of St Nicholas is a Grade II listed building. In 1823 Hollym was parish in the Wapentake and Liberty of Holderness. St Nicholas' Church was built in 1814 by the then vicar. Population at the time was 260. Occupations included seventeen farmers, a corn miller, a schoolmaster, and the landlady of The Plough public house. A carrier operated between the village and Hull once a week. Hollym was served from 1854 to 1964 by Hollym Gate railway station on the Hull and Holderness Railway. Edmund Henry Barker, the English classical scholar, was born in the village.

Hollym Gate railway station is a disused railway station on the North Eastern Railway's Hull and Holderness Railway to the west of Hollym, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was opened in 1855. The station was closed to passengers on 1 September 1870.

Black Mill, (or Owthorne Mill ), Waxholme, is a local landmark in the hamlet of Waxholme close to the town of Withernsea, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. A tower windmill, only the bottom half of the tower remains after the top was removed in the World Wars and used as a lookout over the North Sea. There has been a windmill on the site since at least 1648. The last record of it being a working mill is around 1900.

Waxholme is a seaside hamlet in the civil parish of Rimswell, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the North Sea coast approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) north-west of Withernsea, off the B1242 road. Waxholme was formerly a township in the parish of Owthorne, in 1866 Waxholme became a separate civil parish, on 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished and merged with Rimswell. In 1931 the parish had a population of 41. Westermost Rough Wind Farm is situated roughly 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) off the coast.

Rimswell is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, in an area known as Holderness. It is situated approximately 2 miles (3 km) north-west of Withernsea and it lies between the B1243 and B1362 roads. The civil parish is formed by the village of Rimswell and the hamlet of Waxholme. According to the 2011 UK census, Rimswell parish had a population of 235, an increase on the 2001 UK census figure of 198. The name Rimswell possibly derives from the Old English Rymiswella meaning 'Rymi's spring'. Alternatively, the first element could be derived from the Old Norse personal name Hrimr, and the second element could be the Old English swelle, referring to a 'swelling in the land'. The parish church of St Mary (now closed) is a Grade II listed building. The Prime Meridian passes just to the east of Rimswell. In 1823 Rimswell was in the parish of Owthorne, a village since lost to coastal erosion. Rimswell inhabitants numbered 129, and occupations included ten farmers, some of whom were land owners, a grocer, and the landlord of the Dog and Duck public house. A carrier operated between the village and Hull on Tuesdays.
