Le Locle District

Le Remontoir is a funicular-like inclined elevator in Le Locle, Switzerland. It links the town's centre with Le Locle railway station located above. With a length of 62 m, it climbs a difference of elevation of 24 m. The lower station is located in Rue de la Côte at a small square named Sidmouth's Square.

Le Locle railway station (French: Gare du Locle) is a railway station in the municipality of Le Locle, in the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel. It is located at the junction of the standard gauge Neuchâtel–Le Locle-Col-des-Roches line of Swiss Federal Railways and the 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) gauge Le Locle–Les Brenets line of Transports publics neuchâtelois. Le Remontoir is an inclined elevator linking it to the city centre.

Le Locle (French pronunciation: [lə lɔkl]; German: Luggli) is a municipality in the Canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland. It is situated in the Jura Mountains, a few kilometers from the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds. It is the third smallest city in Switzerland (in Switzerland a place needs more than 10,000 inhabitants to be considered a city). Le Locle is known as a center of Swiss watchmaking, even cited as the birthplace of the industry, with roots dating back to the 1600s. The municipality has been home to manufactures such as Favre-Leuba, Mido, Zodiac, Tissot, Ulysse Nardin, Zenith, Montblanc, Certina as well as Universal Genève, before the latter company relocated to Geneva. The town's history in watchmaking is documented at one of the world's premier horological museums, the Musée d'Horlogerie du Locle, Monts Castle, located in a 19th-century country manor on a hill north of the city. Restored historic underground mills (grainmill, oilmill, sawmill) can be seen in a cave located about one kilometer (0.6 miles) west of the city center.The name of the town derives from the word for lake or trou d'eau.

Ulysse Nardin SA is a Swiss luxury watchmaking company founded in 1846 in Le Locle, Switzerland. The company became known for manufacturing highly accurate marine chronometers and complicated precision exclusive timepieces used by over 50 of the world's navies from the end of the 19th century till 1950. According to the last official report of Neuchâtel Observatory in Switzerland, Ulysse Nardin had won numerous awards and honors for its marine chronometers from 1846 to 1975, including 4324 certificates, 2411 special prizes and 18 gold medals at International exhibitions. The company was taken over and re-invigorated in 1983 by Rolf W. Schnyder who transformed it into a profitable business. From 2014, it was a subsidiary of the French luxury group Kering. Ulysse Nardin has operated out of the same building headquartered in Le Locle, Switzerland since 1865. Ulysse Nardin is now owned by Sowind Group SA following a management buyout. The company today designs and manufactures luxury watches, dual-time watches, and marine chronometers, and sells its products through a network of distributors and several boutiques around the world.

The Watch Museum of Le Locle (French: Musée d'Horlogerie du Locle) is a municipal museum specializing in horology, located in Le Locle, Canton of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. It is open to the public. The museum is located in a small historic country manor house, called 'Château des Monts', about one kilometer north of the city center, on a hill. Most visitors combine a visit to this museum with the other world-class horological museum in the region the Musée international d'horlogerie in La Chaux-de-Fonds, a few kilometers further east.

Monts Castle is a castle in the municipality of Le Locle of the Canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.

Le Locle-Col-des-Roches railway station (French: Gare du Locle-Col des Roches) is a railway station in the municipality of Le Locle, in the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel. It is located at the junction of the standard gauge Neuchâtel–Le Locle-Col-des-Roches line of Swiss Federal Railways and the Besançon–Le Locle line of SNCF. The station is located just short of the border between France and Switzerland and is served by French trains only.

Col des Roches (el. 919 m.) is a mountain pass in the Jura Mountains on the border between the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland and France. It connects Le Locle in Switzerland and Morteau in France. It is notable for 16th century subterranean mills located in caves on the Swiss side.

The Grand Som Martel (1,337 m) is a mountain of the Jura, located between Le Locle and Les Ponts-de-Martel in the canton of Neuchâtel.

Lac de Moron is a reservoir formed by damming the river Doubs on the border of France and Switzerland. It can be reached from Les Planchettes or Les Brenets in the Canton of Neuchâtel (Switzerland) and from Le Barboux in the Doubs department (France). The reservoir has a volume of 20.6 million m³ and its surface area is 0.69 km2 (0.27 sq mi). The arch dam Châtelot was completed in 1953.
