16 Cook Street, Liverpool is the world's second glass curtain walled building. Designed by Peter Ellis in 1866, it is a Grade II* Listed Building. Built two years after Oriel Chambers on Water Street, the architect's best-known work, it shows the development of Ellis' style. Its floor to ceiling glass allows light to penetrate deep into the building, contrasting strongly with the adjacent structures. It has been suggested that American architect John Root was influenced by the construction of both buildings, having studied in Liverpool at the time of their construction.Both 16 Cook Street and Oriel Chambers were featured in the ITV (Granada / Tyne Tees) television programme Grundy's Northern Pride, looking at John Grundy's favourite buildings in the north of England, aired on 9 January 2007.

62 Castle Street is a Grade II listed building located on the west side of Castle Street, Liverpool. It was built in 1868 for the Alliance Bank and was later occupied by The North and South Wales Bank and most recently by the Midland Bank. The building was designed by the architects Lucy and Littler and features a domed banking hall with paired corinthian columns. The two bays to the right of the building are a matching addition, designed by G. E. Grayson. After the Midland Bank had relocated to the northern end of the street, the building was converted in 1990 by Wayne Rose, a Liverpool businessman, at the age of 23, into a bar, restaurant and a 4-star rated, 20-bed, all-suite hotel, known as Trials Hotel due to its close proximity to the Queen Elizabeth Law Courts. The building was bought by Centre Island Hotels in 2004 and refurbished to its current condition as a boutique hotel named “62 Castle Street”. In Summer 2020 following partial relaxations of the UK's Covid National Lockdown during which the hotel had been closed since late March, Centre Island Hotels announced that the hotel would not reopen.
