Street Mission Church

The United Reformed Church (originally known as the Congregational Chapel) is a United Reformed Church in Street, Somerset, England. It was designed by Samuel Pollard and built in 1854–55.

Street Methodist Church is a Methodist church in Street, Somerset, England. It was designed by Henry Hawkins and George Alves and built in 1893.

Street is a large village and civil parish in Somerset, England, with a population of 11,805 in 2011. On a dry spot in the Somerset Levels, at the end of the Polden Hills, it is two miles (three kilometres) southwest of Glastonbury. There is evidence of Roman occupation. Much of the history of the village is dominated by Glastonbury Abbey, and a 12th-century causeway from Glastonbury built to transport local Blue Lias stone to it. The Society of Friends was established there by the mid-17th century. One Quaker family, the Clarks, started a business in sheepskin rugs, woollen slippers and, later, boots and shoes. This became C&J Clark which still has its headquarters in Street. In 1993, redundant factory buildings were converted to form Clarks Village, the first purpose-built factory outlet in the United Kingdom. The Shoe Museum provides information about the history of Clarks and footwear manufacture in general. The Clark family's former mansion and its estate at the edge of the village are now owned by Millfield School, an independent co-educational boarding school. Street is also home to Crispin School and Strode College. To the north of Street is the River Brue, which marks the boundary with Glastonbury. South of Street are the Walton and Ivythorn Hills and East Polden Grasslands biological Sites of Special Scientific Interest. Strode Theatre provides a venue for films, exhibitions and live performances. The Anglican Parish Church of The Holy Trinity dates from the 14th century and has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building.

Clarks Village is an outlet shopping village in Street, Somerset, England. It was established in 1993 on the site of old C&J Clark factory buildings.

The Shoe Museum in Street, Somerset, England exhibited shoes dating from the Roman era to the present day. The museum closed on 27 September 2019.It showed the history of the Clark family and their company C. & J. Clark and its connection with the development of shoemaking in the town. The Clarks started making slippers, shoes and boots in the town in the 1820s and the company grew, introducing mechanised processes in the 1860s. Production continued until after 2000 when it was moved off-shore, using third party factories, predominantly located in Asia. In the 19th century, in line with the family’s Quaker values, the capital was also extended beyond the factory to benefit social initiatives in Street: a school was founded so that young men and women could combine working in the factory with continuing their education, a theatre was opened, a library was built, along with an open-air swimming pool, known as Greenbank, and town hall. The company still has its headquarters in Street, behind a frontage which includes the clock tower and water tower, In 1993 the redundant factory buildings were converted to form Clarks Village.The museum started in 1951, but was expanded in 1974.It had examples of shoes from the 200 years of the companies history. The museum also included a display of machinery used in footwear production, and a selection of shop display showcards from the 1930s, 1950s and 1960s, and television advertisements.The museum closed to the public on 27 September 2019, and its artefacts will be transferred to the nearby Alfred Gillett Trust.

Street Football Club are a football club based in Street in Somerset, England. They are currently members Western League Premier Division and play at the Tannery. The club is affiliated to the Somerset County FA.

Strode College is a tertiary institution and a further education college situated in Street, Somerset, England offering Sixth Form education as well as Higher Education courses. In October 2022, the college was rated as "Good" by Ofsted and in June 2017, was awarded a Silver Award by the Teaching Excellence Framework.

Strode Theatre is a mixed arts venue in Street, Somerset, England. It has a 1960s two-tiered 343 seat purpose-built main theatre and a versatile modern Studio space, with retractable seating for 64. It hosts a programme of live professional and amateur theatre productions, live folk, classical and rock/pop music; popular, European and art-house film; live broadcasts from major international venues, such as London's National Theatre and New York's Metropolitan Opera; and visual arts exhibitions. Strode Theatre is part of Strode College, but operates independently and is largely self-financing, while providing a rehearsal and performance arts facility, and a programme of events for students from the college.

Crispin School Academy is a secondary school in Street, Somerset. The school is located to the eastern end of Street and shares a campus with Strode College.

Millfield is a public school (English fee-charging boarding and day school for pupils aged 13–18) located in Street, Somerset, England. It was founded in 1935. Millfield is a registered charity and is the largest co-educational boarding school in the UK with approximately 1,200 students, of whom over 900 are full boarders of over 70 nationalities. Millfield Development and the Millfield Foundation raise money to fund scholarships and bursaries. The school is a member of the G20 Schools Group and a member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference. The Millfield campus is based over 240 acres in Somerset, in and around Street, in the South West of England. Millfield has its own pre-prep and preparatory school, Millfield Preparatory School (also known as Edgarley) in nearby Glastonbury, which takes children from 2 to 13 years old. The prep school shares some of Millfield's facilities. It acts as a feeder school, with over 90% of its pupils typically moving up to Millfield each year.

The Battle of Marshall's Elm was a skirmish that took place near Street, in the county of Somerset, South West England, on 4 August 1642. The engagement occurred during the build-up to formal beginning of the First English Civil War on 22 August, while the Royalists and Parliamentarians were recruiting men in the county. The Royalists had established their regional headquarters in Wells, but were threatened by superior Parliamentarian numbers in the vicinity. The Royalist commander sent out a mounted patrol consisting of 60 to 80 cavalry and dragoons, which came across a force of between 500 and 600 Parliamentarian recruits travelling north across the Somerset Levels under the command of Sir John Pyne. The Royalists set an ambush at Marshall's Elm, where the road rose out of the Levels into the Polden Hills. After a parley between the leaders was unsuccessful, the Parliamentarians were caught in the ambush. Facing musket fire from the hidden dragoons, and being charged at by the Royalist cavalry, they were routed. The Royalists killed around 27, and took 60 prisoners, including two of the Parliamentarian officers. Despite their victory, the Royalists were forced to withdraw from Wells, and later from Somerset altogether, due to their inferior numbers.

Northover is a former village, now a suburb of Glastonbury in Mendip, Somerset, England.It should not be confused with Northover, Ilchester, a former parish and now an area of that town.
