The Building at 1619 Third Avenue in Columbus, Georgia is a Victorian shotgun cottage built around 1889 which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.It was home to lower to middle income black workers in Columbus. By 1896 it was home to George W. Walls, a dyer for Eagle and Phenix Mills. By 1898 it was home for Mack Culver and his wife; Culver was a fireman for the Central of Georgia Railroad. By 1900 it was home of William Hines, another worker at Eagle and Phenix, and his wife Clara.Its front porch includes some gingerbreading attached to its chamfered columns as a nod by the builder to popular styles.Its National Register listing was within a batch of numerous Columbus properties determined to be eligible consistent with a 1980 study of historic resources in Columbus.

The Building at 1519 3rd Avenue in Columbus, Georgia was built c.1908-10. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.It is a two-story "large sprawling house with no distinguishable architectural style", with a two-story bay and a hipped roof with a dormer centered over its front entrance.It is located in what was once Columbus's elite "High Uptown" neighborhood, and was deemed "significant as it was the home of John Bleecker who was general manager of Columbus Railroad Company shortly after the turn of the century". It was later home of Robert E. Dismukes, president of the Home Building and Savings Association.Its National Register listing was within a batch of numerous Columbus properties determined to be eligible consistent with a 1980 study of historic resources in Columbus.

Rankin House is a historic residence in Columbus, Georgia. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 16, 1972. It is located at 1440 2nd Avenue. It is now home to a museum on the first floor and the Historic Columbus Foundation on the upper floor. The home was built for James Rankin, a planter and owner of The Rankin Hotel who came to Columbus from Ayrshire, Scotland. Construction of the home was interrupted by the American Civil War.The home includes iron grillwork, pine floors, marble mantels and a walnut double stairway. Period gaslight chandeliers are a highlight of the museum rooms. The music room boasts a rosewood piano of concert quality; a picture of Mr. Rankin, the home's original owner; and a Rankin family petticoat table and ornate gilt mirror. A piano forte is displayed in the south parlor. The home includes a utility staircase used by servants. It was an expensive home. The property's fencing is from the Broadway townhouse of General Henry Lewis Benning, the Confederate war hero for whom Fort Benning is named.

The High Uptown Historic District, in Columbus, Georgia, is a 20 acres (8.1 ha) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. The listing included 39 contributing buildings and 18 non-contributing ones.The district is roughly bounded by 2nd and 3rd Avenues between Railroad and 13th Streets. The Bullard-Hart House in Columbus, Georgia was built during 1887-90 for Dr. William L. Bullard, Columbus physician and pioneer ear, eye, nose, and throat specialist. The house is a splendid example of Second Empire Victorian architecture. It was designed by architect L. E. Thornton of New York.The Bullard family lived here for 90 years. Their guests included President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Generals George Patton and George Marshall who dined on "Country Captain," a popular regional dish originated by the family cook, Arie Mullins. The house was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1977.It was painstakingly restored in 1978 by new owners, Dr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sampson.

The Walter Hurt Cargill House, in Columbus, Georgia, is a Georgian Revival-style house built in about 1918. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.It is brick, and is a raised one-story cottage. It has a center portico supported by two columns at each end.It was home of Walter H. and Mamie Cargill. Walter was associated with Hardaway-Cargill Co., a local syrup manufacturing firm.It is also a contributing building in the High Uptown Historic District.

The Garrett-Bullock House is a historic Queen Anne-style house in Columbus, Georgia. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.It was owned by Joseph Garrett, owner of a Broad Street wholesale liquor-and tobacco business known as "Garrett & Sons", and became a boarding house.The Garrett-Bullock House may have been used as a special events center for weddings and parties. It is separately listed in the National Register and also included in the High Uptown Historic District.

The Columbus Historic Riverfront Industrial District encompasses one of the most significant assemblages of 19th-century waterpowered mill technology in the American South. A National Historic Landmark District, it includes five historic industrial complexes with elements surviving as far back as the 1830s, located in four separate areas along the eastern bank of the Chattahoochee River in Columbus, Georgia. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1978.

City Mills Dam was a dam on the Chattahoochee River, between Downtown Columbus, Georgia, and Phenix City, Alabama. The dam was built in 1907 to power the City Mills grist mill. Previously, a wooden dam dating to 1828 had existed at the site. The dam impounded a 1.3-mile (2.1 km) run of the river reservoir of approximately 110 acres (0.45 km2). The City of Columbus, Georgia, breached the dam on March 12, 2013, to create an urban whitewater area on the river.

The Old City Cemetery, also known as Linwood Cemetery, is a 28.7-acre (11.6 ha) cemetery on what is now Linwood Boulevard, in Columbus, Georgia. It dates from 1828, when the town of Columbus was founded, or before. It appears in surveyor Edward Lloyd Thomas's original plan for the city. The cemetery consists mostly of rectangular family plots bordered by iron fences or walls made of brick or granite, accessed by a main east-west corridor and perpendicular lanes. It includes both simple and elaborate tombstones, some displaying Egyptian Revival or Gothic styles. The cemetery was given the name "Linwood" in 1894 by city council resolution, probably to honor Columbus author Caroline Lee Hentz whose works include Ernest Linwood, an 1856 book.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.According to its 1978 nomination, the majority of prominent Columbus persons are buried there. Its burials include more than 200 Confederate Army soldiers representing every state in the Confederacy.Thomas's own son was an early burial, as he died and was buried in the cemetery in 1828 while Thomas was amidst his work surveying, but apparently the grounds include earlier marked and unmarked graves of "'early traders, river people, and Indians.'"

The City Fire Department in Columbus, Georgia, at 1338 and 1340 Broadway, is a former fire station which was built in 1920. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.It is Bungalow in style.

The Mott House was a historic residence constructed in 1839 in Columbus, Georgia. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. It was destroyed by fire in 2014.
