The University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice (Slovak: Univerzita veterinárskeho lekárstva a farmácie v Košiciach) is a public single faculty university in Košice, Slovakia that provides undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate education in veterinary medicine, animal science, cynology, pharmacy and food safety.The university was established as the Veterinary College in Košice (Slovak: Vysoká škola veterinárska v Košiciach) by the Act of the Slovak National Council No. 1/1950 Coll. of 16 December 1949 on the establishment of the Veterinary College in Košice (Slovak: zákon Slovenskej národnej rady č. 1/1950 Zb. zák. SNR o zriadení Vysokej školy veterinárskej v Košiciach), though the Preparatory Committee for the Establishment of the Veterinary College in Košice (Slovak: Prípravný výbor pre založenie Vysokej školy zverolekárskej v Košiciach) appointed on 19 July 1949 under the chairmanship of Professor Ján Hovorka, the head of the Faculty of Agriculture of the Agricultural and Forestry Engineering College in Košice. The college began its teaching activities with its first lecture on 5 October 1949.It became the first school of veterinary medicine in Slovakia and the second one in Czechoslovakia since the establishment of the Veterinary College in Brno on 12 December 1918. It still remains the only institution in Slovakia offering courses in veterinary medicine.

Technical University of Košice (Slovak: Technická univerzita v Košiciach) is the second largest university of technology in Slovakia.

Ťahanovce (Hungarian: Hernádtihany, pronounced [ˈhɛrnaːttihɒɲ]) is a borough (city ward) of the city of Košice, Slovakia. The first written mention about Ťahanovce is dated back to 1263. It was an independent village until 1969 when it was connected with Košice. Ťahanovce is home to approximately 2,000 (prevailingly elder) people and it is closely connected with the city part Sídlisko Ťahanovce.

The East Slovak Museum (Slovak: Východoslovenské múzeum) in Košice, Slovakia, is one of the oldest Slovak museums, founded in 1872. It is located in the Old Town borough of Košice, at Námestie maratóncov (Marathon Runners' Square). The museum was founded on 25 June 1876 as Felső-Magyarországi Muzeum (Museum of Upper Hungary), in the Kingdom of Hungary. In 1906, it was renamed to Felső-magyarországi Rákóczi Múzeum after the reburial of Francis II Rákóczi. A neo-Renaissance building was erected in the early 20th century. It was the first building in the town designed to serve its needs as a museum. There are sculptures of Perseus and Vulcan on the facade of the building.The museum also possesses a relocated wooden church that was built in 1741.

The Košice Children's Heritage Railway (Slovak: Košická detská historická železnica, KDHŽ) is a 4.2 km (2.6 mi) long single-track heritage railway with a track gauge of 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in). The railway was opened on 20 September 1955 as a pioneer railway near Košice in Slovakia and is still in operation today. It is located in the rural part of the city's Košice-Sever borough. The route is operated by the civic association Children's Railway Košice in close cooperation with the city of Košice and private partners. The route has three stations: Čermeľ (Čermeľ-Baránok), Vpred (Čermeľ-Vodáreň) and Alpinka (formerly Pioneer). The train journey takes about 20 minutes. The children's railway season starts traditionally on 1 May and usually lasts in late autumn. With the exception of the train driver, the ticketing manager and the children's station manager, the train is run by children under the supervision of adults, with a break from 1990 to 2011, when adults took over. p. 12.

Faculty of Medicine of Pavel Jozef Šafárik University is an educational and scientific institutions offering tertiary education in doctoral studies and public health programmes. Faculty of Medicine is the oldest institution of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University and was founded in 1948, 11 years before establishment of University.

The Slovak Technical Museum (Slovak: Slovenské technické múzeum, STM) is a major Slovak technology museum, based in the eastern Slovak city of Košice, with branches throughout Slovakia. It was established in 1947 and opened to the public in 1948, under the name Technical Museum (Technické múzeum). The museum was renamed to its current name in 1983. Its main exhibits and headquarters are located in the northern part of Košice's Main Street (Hlavná ulica), in the historical public building known as Kapitánsky palác (The Captain Palace).

St. Anthony of Padua Church or commonly known as the Franciscan Church (Slovak: Františkánsky kostol) or the Seminary Church (Slovak: Seminárny kostol) at Hlavná ulica (English: Main Street) is the second oldest church in Košice, Slovakia.

Košice Staré Mesto (literally: "Košice Old Town", Hungarian: Kassa-Óváros) is a borough (city ward) of Košice, Slovakia. It encompasses the historical centre of the city, consisting of the medieval and early modern core of Košice, with many preserved historical buildings of several architectural styles, and a small number of more modern architecture. The borough also includes the immediate environs of the historical centre (e.g. Mestský park ("City Park"), Staničné námestie ("Station Square") with the main train station, etc.).

The Plague Column (Slovak: Morový stĺp) or Immaculata is a Baroque plague column (Marian and Holy Trinity column) in Košice, Slovakia. The column is situated in a small park and commemorates the gratitude to Mary for an end to the plague epidemic from 1709 and 1710. It was erected at the place of medieval gallows at Fő utca (Main Street, now called Hlavná ulica) in 1723. Local legend holds that the relics of Saint Valentine are hidden beneath the structure. It is a 14-metre-high (46 ft) column on a stone basement with sculptures of Saint Joseph, Saint Sebastian and Saint Ladislaus. There is a sculpture of the Virgin Mary on the top of the column. The sculptures of Saint Gabriel, Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, Saint Margaret, Saint Michael the Archangel and Saint Barbara are on the pillars of the fence. The statue was damaged during World War II. It was restored by academic sculptor Vojtech Löffler in the years 1949-1951 and 1971–1972. The last restoration took place in 1996–1998.

The Greek Catholic Cathedral Church of Virgin Mary's Birth (Slovak: Gréckokatolícky katedrálny chrám Narodenia presvätej Bohorodičky) is located at Moyzesova Street in the historic centre of Košice, Slovakia. It is the cathedral of the Eparchy of Košice. Greek Catholics started to settle in Košice in the 17th century. As late as 1852 their bishop established a chapel in Košice. Till then, the divine services were served in the Franciscan Church, and rarely at the Premonstrates or in St. Michael Chapel. In 1880, the community were able to buy grounds near the chapel and to build the church in the years 1882–1898. In the Communist era of former Czechoslovakia, the church was given to the Eastern Orthodox Church after the banning of the Greek Catholic (Byzantine Catholic) Church. After 1990, it was returned to the Greek Catholics and the church was restored and repaired to its current condition.

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary or commonly known as the Dominican Church (Slovak: Dominikánsky kostol) at Dominikánske námestie (English: Dominican Square) is the oldest church in Košice, Slovakia, and also the oldest preserved building in the town.
