Uptown Square Historic District

The Uptown Broadway Building is a historic three-story building at 4703–4715 North Broadway in Uptown, Chicago. Built in 1926, it was designed by Walter W. Ahlschlager and is known for its ornate terra-cotta facade, depicting ancient gods, rams' heads, shields, helmets, birds, fruits, and trophies. Lynn Becker of the Chicago Reader has called the exterior "a riotous, Spanish-baroque-inspired hallucination". According to unconfirmed local legends, Al Capone operated a speakeasy in the building's basement.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. It is also listed as part of the Uptown Square Historic District.On December 31, 2013, the Kiss Kiss Cabaret announced they have chosen it for their new location.

The Buddhist Temple of Chicago (BTC) was founded in October 1944 by Gyomay Kubose, a minister of the Higashi Honganji branch of the Jōdo Shinshū ("True Pure Land School") sect, along with several laypeople who had been released from the Japanese American internment camps. Although the temple is administratively independent, the teaching lineage reflects the progressive Jōdo Shinshū thought of Manshi Kiyozawa and his student, Haya Akegarasu, who was Kubose's teacher. The temple was originally called the Chicago Buddhist Church and was located in the Hyde Park neighborhood on Chicago's south side. In the mid-1950s, the temple relocated to the Uptown neighborhood on the north side. In 2006, the temple dedicated its new building.The membership base continues to be Japanese American, but from early in the temple's history the number of non-Japanese members has steadily increased. Today the active membership includes a diversity of Asian, European, Latino and African ethnicities.

Lawrence is a temporarily closed 'L' station on the Chicago Transit Authority's Red Line. It is an elevated station located at 1117 West Lawrence Avenue in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The adjacent stations are Argyle, located about 1⁄3 mile (0.54 km) to the north, and Wilson, about 1⁄4 mile (0.40 km) to the south, serving as alternate stations remaining open while Lawrence is closed for reconstruction. Four tracks pass through the station, though the two eastern tracks are out of service for reconstruction, with a single island platform in the center of the tracks; Purple Line weekday rush hour express service use the outside tracks and do not stop. Lawrence station is located in the historic Uptown entertainment district. Nearby attractions include the Aragon Ballroom, the Green Mill Cocktail Lounge, the Riviera Theater, and the Uptown Theatre.

The Sheridan Trust and Savings Bank Building, currently known as the Bridgeview Bank Building, is a 12-story terra cotta building at 4753 North Broadway Avenue in Uptown, Chicago. The first eight floors of the structure were built in 1924 by Marshall and Fox. Huszagh and Hill added a four-story addition in 1928. The City of Chicago granted the structure Chicago Landmark status on October 8, 2008.The building's original tenant, the Sheridan Trust and Savings Bank, failed in 1931. Uptown National Bank began using the building in 1937. The bank and the building were acquired by Bridgeview Bank in 2003. In 2018, Bridgeview Bank was acquired by First Midwest Bank in a merger, but the building retained its name.The building is home to a number of non-profit organizations and social service agencies, which have served low-income, immigrant, and refugee communities in the Uptown area. In 2019, the building was bought by the real estate developer Cedar Street, with plans to convert most of the building into residential units.

Uptown Theatre (also known as Balaban and Katz Uptown Theatre) is a currently closed movie palace and concert venue located in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Designed by Rapp and Rapp and built by Paschen Bros. contractors, it is one of the many movie palaces built by the Balaban & Katz theatre chain run by A. J. Balaban, his brother Barney Balaban, and their partner Sam Katz. The largest remaining in Chicago, it boasts 4,381 seats and its interior volume is said to be larger than any other movie palace in the United States, including Radio City Music Hall in New York. It occupies over 46,000 square feet (4,300 m2) of land at the corner of Lawrence Avenue and Broadway in Chicago's Uptown Entertainment District. The mammoth theater has an ornate five-story entrance lobby, formerly with an eight-story façade. The Uptown Theater has been closed since 1981. While restoration was often discussed in the following decades, and several concentrated efforts were made to promote the Uptown's restoration, no such efforts were successful, leaving the theater in disrepair. However, on June 28, 2018, it was announced that $75 million had been set aside to restore the theater.

The McJunkin Building is located in Uptown, Chicago, at the corner of Wilson Avenue and Broadway. It was constructed in 1924. It is located adjacent to the Wilson station on the Chicago "L"; prior to 1949, that station was dual-level, with a lower ground-level portion and an upper elevated portion; access to the lower portion of the station was incorporated into the McJunkin Building.
