Llangammarch (parish)

Llangammarch Wells or simply Llangammarch (Welsh: Llangamarch ) is a village in the community of Llangamarch in Powys, Wales, lying on the Afon Irfon, and in the historic county of Brecknockshire (Breconshire). It is the smallest of the four spa villages of mid-Wales, alongside Llandrindod Wells, Builth Wells and Llanwrtyd Wells. The spa was focused on a barium well, which is now closed. The old village is centred on the parish church of St Cadmarch, which is a grade II* listed building. Llangammarch station is on the Heart of Wales Line with trains provided by Transport for Wales. It lies on Route 43 of the National Cycle Network. Llangammarch Wells Golf Club (now defunct) was founded in 1904. The club and course disappeared in the 1950s. The community includes the small settlements of Tirabad and Cefn Gorwydd, birthplace of John Penry (1563 – 29 May 1593) the martyr, who was born at Cefn Brith farm. The farm is signposted but the old farmhouse is not the original building.

Llangammarch railway station serves the village of Llangammarch Wells in Powys, Wales. Situated near the centre of the village, the station is on the Heart of Wales Line 56+3⁄4 miles (91.3 km) north east of Swansea.

Garth is a village in Powys, mid Wales, in the community of Treflys. It lies on the A483 road between Builth Wells and Beulah at the point where the B4519 joins it from the south. The River Irfon flows to the south of the village. Garth railway station is a request station on the Heart of Wales Line.

Garth railway station (Powys) serves the village of Garth, Powys, Wales. The railway station is located at street level at the end of the Llais yr Afon lane near the village centre. The station is known as Garth (Powys) in order to differentiate it from Garth (Bridgend). It formerly had a passing loop and two platforms, but only one is now used (the disused one is overgrown but still visible).

Dulas is a left-bank tributary of the Afon Irfon, itself a tributary of the River Wye. It rises on the southeastern slopes of the Elenydd and runs southeast to join the Irfon at Garth. The river is bridged by both the B4358 and the A483 roads.

Garth Bank Quarry is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Brecknock, Powys, Wales. The Countryside Council for Wales describes the significance of the quarry as follows: "The rocks in this quarry are siltstones and pebbly sandstones of late Ordovician and Early Silurian age, approximately 440 to 445 million years old. The rocks provide an insight into the environmental conditions at the boundary between the Ordovician and Silurian Periods. The oldest rocks in the quarry comprise late Ordovician siltstones. These contain fossilised remains of brachiopods, a marine sea-shell. After a break in deposition these siltstones are overlain by pebbly, rippled sandstones which range from very late Ordovician to Silurian in age."

Mynydd Epynt (Welsh: [ˈmənɨð ˈɛpɨnt]) is an upland region of Mid Wales, within the county of Powys. It is bounded on the south by the upper stretch of the Usk Valley, on the north by the Irfon Valley, and on the east by the Wye Valley. Its western boundary is less distinct but lies east of the A483 Llandovery to Llanwrtyd Wells road. The area is an extensive plateau lying between 400 and 450m, drained by several southward-flowing rivers that empty into the River Usk; these include (from west to east) the Cilieni, the Nant Bran, the Afon Ysgir (with its two headwaters, the Ysgir Fechan and Ysgir Fawr) and the Afon Honddu. The Duhonw drains north-eastward into the River Wye. The highest point is a marilyn (having topographic prominence of at least 150m) of 478m. Since 1940, Mynydd Epynt has formed part of the Sennybridge Training Area, the largest military training zone in Wales.

Beulah is a village in southern Powys, Wales, in the community of Treflys, lying on the Afon Cammarch. The village sits astride the main A483 road about 8 miles south-west of Builth Wells and is 49 miles (79 km) from Cardiff and 154 miles (248 km) from London. It benefits from both a pub and service station with attached shop. The parish church Eglwys Oen Duw ("Lamb of God"), built in 1867, can be found 1 mile to the north-west of the village.

Cwm Craig-ddu Quarry is a disused quarry in Brecknock, Powys, Wales. It has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of the fossils found there, particularly the fossils of the earliest vascular land plant yet discovered.

The Epynt Way is a long-distance path created by the Ministry of Defence in 2004 around the perimeter of its 'Sennybridge Training Area (SENTA)' and artillery range on Mynydd Epynt in Powys, Wales. There is, understandably, virtually no public access across the land used by the MoD, pre-existing public rights of way and public roads having been closed, with only one or two exceptions. The establishment of the Epynt Way, section by section in recent years has gone some way to compensating for that reduction in public access across the area.

Llanfechan is a small church settlement in the community of Treflys, consisting of a church and a farm, and the surrounding area, it is beside the A483 on the north side of the Irfon Valley near Cilmeri, about 7 kilometers (4.3 mi) west of Builth Wells, Powys, Wales.

Coed y Ciliau is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Brecknock, Powys, Wales. The site is near the Dulais valley and is best known for multiple species of Lichen.
