The West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center is among a network of housing, shelter, utilities, food preparation facilities and a hospital mandated to permanently serve disabled Veterans at the West Los Angeles VA Soldiers Home. The approximately 400 remaining acres of the Soldiers Home is located adjacent to the West Los Angeles, Westwood and Brentwood neighborhoods of Los Angeles, has its own ZIP Code and accounts for most of the over $1,100,000,000 Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System's annual federal budget. The West Los Angeles VA Soldiers Home is the first U.S. Government facility for homeless Veterans and the only one it permanently maintains in Public Trust to house them.

Stoner Park, located at 1835 Stoner Avenue in the West Los Angeles, is 8.65-acre park facility that includes the Stoner Recreation Center, Stoner Park Skate Plaza, Stoner Park Pool, baseball, football, and soccer fields.

Westwood/VA Hospital Station is a planned heavy-rail subway station on the D Line (Purple) of the Los Angeles County Metro Rail system. The station will be located underground between Bonsall Avenue and the I-405 freeway, south of Wilshire Blvd. The main station entrance will be located south of Wilshire Blvd, next to Bonsall Avenue, directly serving the VA Medical Center. Another entrance will be located north of Wilshire Blvd.The station is currently in the under construction phase 3 of the Purple Line Extension project, with contractors hired in 2019. The station is slated to open along with Westwood/UCLA station in 2027.

The Wilshire Federal Building is an office building in Los Angeles, located on Wilshire and Sepulveda Boulevards in the area of Sawtelle. Many of Los Angeles’ federal offices are located in this building. The building actually is not located on municipal Los Angeles land, but in a small (0.90-square-mile (2.3 km2)), unincorporated area of Los Angeles County enclosed by the city, known as unincorporated Sawtelle. Construction on the Wilshire Federal Building began in 1968 and was completed in 1969. It is 79.43 metres (260.6 ft) high. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020. The building is often the site of protests and demonstrations. For example, during the Iranian Revolution, the Federal Building was the scene of demonstrations both supporting the Revolution and supporting the Shah.The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Los Angeles field office is in Suite 1700.

Wadsworth Chapel, also known as the Catholic-Protestant Chapels, is actually two separate chapels under one roof on the campus of the Dept. of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in West Los Angeles, California. The structure was built in 1900 and was closed in 1971 after being damaged in the 1971 Sylmar earthquake. It is the oldest building on Wilshire Boulevard and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The structure has fallen into a state of disrepair due to the lack of funds within the Dept. of Veterans Affairs to pay for the required repairs and renovation.

Barrington Plaza is an apartment complex in Los Angeles, California, located at 11740 Wilshire Boulevard in the Sawtelle community of Los Angeles, California . At the time of its completion, in 1962, it was described as the largest privately built apartment development in the western United States.

University High School Charter, commonly known as "Uni", is a public secondary school, built 1923–1924, and founded 1924, located in West Los Angeles, a district in Los Angeles, California, near the border with Santa Monica. University High is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The campus also holds Indian Springs Continuation High School. The school contains the Serra Springs, a sacred site of the Tongva–Gabrieleño native people and a registered California Historical Landmark.

The historic Wadsworth Theatre is a live theatre in the Sawtelle community of West Los Angeles, in Los Angeles, California. It is located on the historic Sawtelle Veterans Home campus, the present day 388-acre (1,570,000 m2) West Los Angeles Department of Veterans Affairs complex. It is off Wilshire Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard, on the east side of Brentwood.

Wildwood School is an independent progressive K–12 school located in Los Angeles. Wildwood was founded as an elementary school in 1971, by a group of parents led by a young lawyer named Belle Mason. The secondary campus (middle and high school) opened in 2000. The elementary campus is located in Los Angeles and the middle and upper school campus is located in West Los Angeles. There are approximately 300 students in grades K-5, the elementary campus, and 400 in grades 6–12 at the middle and upper school campus.

The Consulate General of Sweden, Los Angeles was the diplomatic mission of Sweden in Los Angeles between 1980 and 1995, as well as between 1998 and 2009. The consulate general had its origins in the honorary vice consulate opened in 1910, which was transformed into an honorary consulate in 1955 and an honorary consulate general in 1969. The main tasks of the consulate general were to disseminate information about Sweden and Swedish collaboration opportunities, promote business activities through various events, and handle consular matters (primarily passport and visa processing) and assistance to Swedish citizens in the western United States. Initially, the consular jurisdiction of the consulate general only covered the city of Los Angeles, but over time it expanded to include up to 13 states as other Swedish consulates general in the United States closed. The Swedish consulate general in Los Angeles closed for the second time in 2009. In 2021, Sweden reopened an honorary consulate in Los Angeles to, among other things, support Swedish citizens in southern California with consular matters.
