Llanharry (Welsh: Llanhari) is a village, community (civil parish) and electoral ward in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. Historically part of Glamorgan, Llanharry has been inextricably linked with iron mining as far back as the Roman period, and for a period in the 20th century it boasted the only iron mine in Wales. The town is infamous for being the site of the murders of Harry and Megan Tooze, which remain some of Wales' most notorious unsolved murders.

The murders of Harry and Megan Tooze, also known as the Llanharry murders, were the high-profile killings of an elderly couple at their remote Ty Ar y Waun farm near Llanharry, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales, United Kingdom, on 26 July 1993. The couple were shot dead at point blank range with a shotgun in an execution-style killing, and their killer had attempted to hide their bodies in the cowshed of the farm. Their best china was found mysteriously laid out on the table in the farmhouse as if the couple were expecting a guest, and their lunch was found cooked but not eaten on the stove. It was described by the lead detective in charge of the case as the "most baffling" case he had investigated. Jonathan Jones, the boyfriend of the Toozes' daughter, was initially convicted of their murders in 1995. His fingerprint had been found on one of the teacups. It was alleged that Jones had killed the victims for their £150,000 life insurance payment as he was in financial difficulty. Jones' conviction was subsequently quashed a year later. The case remains one of Wales' most notorious unsolved murders.

Llanharan is a village and community in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. As a community Llanharan takes in the neighbouring settlements of Bryncae, Brynna, Llanilid, Peterston-super-Montem and Ynysmaerdy. Llanharan thrived during the British Industrial Revolution, with several tin and coal mines in the location providing employment to the town's residents. With the decline of heavy industry in the South Wales Coalfield, Llanharan has been in economic decline, though its proximity to the M4 motorway offers its residents easy commutable access to most of South Wales. Historically part of Glamorgan, the most recognisable features of Llanharan are its historic town square, Llanharan House and Church of St Julius and Aaron.

Llansannor (Welsh: Llansanwyr) is a small hamlet in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, United Kingdom. It has a population of roughly 200 people. It contains a parish church, a pub (the City Inn, now closed), a primary school and a village hall, which has recently been rebuilt thanks to the efforts of the parishioners. Llansannor is traditionally a parish, until the last century comprising little more than a collection of farms spread out across Llansannor Hill (Mynydd y Fforest) and now incorporating the present hamlet of City and a collection of houses built in the grounds of Llansannor Court between the 1970s and 90's. Present day farms in the parish include Church Farm, Gelli Goll Farm and Windmill Farm. While agriculture remains important to the character of the area, many residents of the village are retirees or commute to work in nearby Cardiff. The Valeways Millennium Heritage Trail passes through the parish, and the source of the River Thaw is nearby. Famous residents include JPR Williams, former Welsh rugby fullback.

St Senwyr's Church is a Grade I listed church in Llansannor, in the Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales. It became a Grade I listed building on 22 February 1963.It is believed that the first record of the church was in 1180 as "Sanctae Senwarae de la Thawe" and was part of the Tewkesbury Abbey holdings. By the 13th century, it is recorded as a possession of the Lords of Glamorgan. It is thought that originally, the church was a chapel of the Church at LLambethian but became independent of LLambethian prior to 1295. The church was also referred to as "Ecclesia de la Tawe" (church/chapel on the River Thaw). The parish was comprised the estates of Brigan and Llansannor Court; the church is situated on the grounds of Llansannor Court.An 1879 newspaper story relates there was extensive restoration done to the chancel and the churchyard wall. The story also mentions that the church nave was restored and fitted with new seats 26 years prior to the work done in 1879. The church is described as having a main door dated 1674 with furnishings dating mainly from the Victorian era to the mid 1920s. Fragments of wall paintings were discovered in 1969. The cross in the churchyard became a Grade II listed building on 30 April 2004.

Llansannor Court is a Grade I listed building in Llansannor, near Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales. It became a Grade I listed building on 16 December 1952. It is believed to have been built during the Elizabethan era.The walls are of rubble and the roof is slate. The house has two storeys in some places and three in others, is L-shaped, and has stone mullioned windows. During the 18th century it was owned by the politician Francis Gwyn, who inherited it from his father, Edward Gwyn. On Francis's death it passed to his son, Edward Prideaux Gwyn.Although the fabric of the house is mostly of the 16th and 17th centuries, it was enlarged and refurbished during the Georgian period. However, when the last member of the Gwyn family died in 1846, the entire contents of the house were sold to a wealthy merchant who used only five rooms, allowing the rest of the house to deteriorate. It subsequently passed through several generations of the Roper family, who helped restore the house and gardens.Within the grounds of Llansannor Court is the local parish church, the Church of St Senwyr, the only one in Wales dedicated to this particular saint.The house has been used as a filming location for many television programmes, including multiple episodes of Doctor Who, such as "The Unicorn and the Wasp", "Tooth and Claw" and "The Woman Who Lived". A community organisation called LAMBS ("Llansannor Ancient and Modern Buildings and Settlements") was formed in 1999 in order to plan for the millennium and support local heritage.

Ystradowen is a small village twelve miles west of Cardiff, located in the Vale of Glamorgan in south Wales; its nearest town is Cowbridge which is about three miles to the south. The village was served by Ystradowen railway station between 1865 and 1951. The name Ystradowen means "Owen's Valley" in English. Local amenities include St Owain's parish church, The White Lion public house, Tudor Garage and Seven Oaks fisheries. Notable residents: Tom Jones had a home in the village until 1998.

Llanharan House is a historic house on the outskirts of Llanharan, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It is located off the A473 road, just east of Llanharan and is a Grade II* listed building. The gardens and park attached to the house are designated Grade II on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.

Ystradowen railway station served the village of Ystradowen in the Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales. It was on the Cowbridge and Aberthaw line.
