Gaafar Ibnauf Children’s Emergency Hospital, Gaafar Ibnauf Children's Emergency Hospital (GICH) or the Dr. Gaafar Ibnauf Specialized Hospital is a children's hospital located in Khartoum, Sudan. It is the largest children's hospital in Sudan and incorporates many of the paediatric subspecialties including respiratory medicine, neurology, gastroenterology, cardiology, nephrology, infectious disease, paediatric intensive care and neonatal intensive care. It was one of the first dedicated children's hospitals in Africa.

The National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) (Arabic: المعمل القومي للصحة العامة) is a public health laboratory in Sudan that was previously known as the Stack Medical Research Laboratories (Arabic: معمل استاك للبحوث الطبية) from its inception in 1927 until April 1969. The name Stack Medical Research Laboratories referred to Lee Stack, a Governor-General of Anglo-Egyptian Sudan. Directors including Eric S. Horgan, Robert Kirk, and Mansour Ali Haseeb developed research programs on endemic diseases including leishmaniasis, yellow fever, and smallpox vaccine development. In 1969, the name changed to National Public Health Laboratories, by which time it was a significant medical research hub, affiliated with the Sudan Medical Research Council. The laboratory's role expanded to conducting diagnostics, vaccine production, and research on malaria and yellow fever The laboratory is a centre for medical education, training, and research. In the 2020s, the laboratory faced severe challenges during the Sudanese revolution and the 2023 Sudan conflict, forcing a relocation to Port Sudan due to war-induced destruction.

Khartoum 2 (Arabic: الخرطوم 2 ) is an affluent neighbourhood located in Khartoum, the capital city of Sudan. It is bounded to the east by Africa Street leading to Khartoum International Airport, to the west by Khartoum 3 and to the south by Al-Amarat neighbourhood, on the side of Street (1) and to the north by Khartoum in general.During the initial phase of the 2023 Sudan conflict between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), the RSF was heavily involved in intense battles within Khartoum neighbourhoods such as Al Amarat and Khartoum 2. These areas are in proximity to the city's international airport and are also home to numerous embassies and affluent residents. Additionally, the RSF established checkpoints in upscale districts like al-Riyadh. At these checkpoints, they strategically positioned antiaircraft weaponry in front of residences to target the military aircraft that were flying overhead.Incidents of theft have also been documented within sections of the city proper. On a specific day, individuals living in the Khartoum 2 vicinity informed the BBC that members of the RSF militia had been systematically visiting homes in the neighbourhood, requesting provisions of water and nourishment. On 19 April, a huge fire broke out in the Khartoum 2 area after an attack at a weapons store.

Unity High School is an independent multi-denominational co-educational private school in Khartoum, Sudan, which uses the English language and provides a British-style education to children from 4 to 18 years of age. It opened as an all-girls school in 1902, and in its current form goes back to 1928. Unity High is situated in the center of Khartoum.

Comboni College for Science and Technology (CCST), originally Comboni College for Computer Science, is a private college in Khartoum, Sudan, established as a technical college since 2001. It goes back to the earlier school for boys, founded by Catholic priests from Italy in 1929.

The Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation is a historic religious building in Khartoum, Sudan. The church is part of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria. The church is one of the last surviving in the city following anti-Christian violence and church demolition.

The Sudanese Journalists Syndicate (SJS) (Arabic: نقابة الصحفيين السودانيين) is a professional organisation for journalists in Sudan. The syndicate was re-established in August 2022 after more than three decades of absence. The last independent journalists' union was dissolved in 1989 when Omar al-Bashir came to power after a coup d'état.

The Acropole is the oldest hotel in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, since it was still established during the Anglo-Egyptian Condominium. After Sudanese independence in 1956 the Greek-owned hotel weathered several regime changes and developed into a popular entry point and base for visiting journalists, humanitarians, diplomats, archaeologists and other researchers as well as overland travellers.The family-run business was in service without interruption until it was forced by the 2023 Sudan conflict to close its doors. It is widely considered as one of the best hotels in Africa and enjoys a reputation as a legendary landmark of hospitality.
