Střekov Castle (Czech: hrad Střekov, German: Burg Schreckenstein) is a ruined castle in Ústí nad Labem in the Central Bohemian Highlands in the Czech Republic. It is perched atop a cliff above the Elbe river. It was built in the 14th century to protect the waterway and collect duties on transported goods, and is renowned for its impressive views. It has enchanted a variety of visiting artists, most notably Goethe, Richard Wagner, and Karel Hynek Mácha. The castle is especially well known from the painting by Ludwig Richter called Passing the Schreckenstein (Überfahrt am Schreckenstein) which hangs in the Galerie Neue Meister in Dresden. The castle is perched atop a steep, monolithic, clinkstone rock that rises steeply to 100 metres above the Elbe and is the symbol of North Bohemia. Large parts of the castle have survived or been rebuilt, including the bergfried, palas and castle walls.

The Ústí nad Labem derailment occurred on 28 June 2010 when a CityElefant train derailed at Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic. The driver was killed and 11 passengers were injured.

The Bílina (Czech pronunciation: [ˈbiːlɪna]; German: Biela) is a river in the Czech Republic, a left tributary of the Elbe River. It flows through the Ústí nad Labem Region. It is 82.0 km (51.0 mi) long. The river flows through a densely populated area with a high concentration of industry. It is infamously known as the dirtiest Czech river, even though water quality has improved significantly in the 21st century.

The Ústí massacre (Czech: Ústecký masakr, German: Massaker von Aussig) was a lynching of ethnic Germans in Ústí nad Labem (Aussig an der Elbe), a largely ethnic German city in northern Bohemia ("Sudetenland"), shortly after the end of World War II, on 31 July 1945. During the incident, 43 Germans were said to be killed but the estimated possible numbers ranged from 80 to hundreds of victims. Intelligence officer and police commandant Bedřich Pokorný, who previously took part in the organisation of so called Brno death march in May 1945, has been sometimes accused of organizing this massacre towards the end of the Potsdam conference (17 July to 2 August 1945) after the government had halted such acts. On 31 July 2005, the mayor of Ústí unveiled a memorial plaque on the bridge with the text "In the memory of victims of violence on 31 July 1945" (photographs).

Ústí nad Labem (Czech pronunciation: [ˈuːsciː nad ˈlabɛm] ; German: Aussig) is a city in the Czech Republic. It has about 91,000 inhabitants and is the capital of the Ústí nad Labem Region. It is a major industrial centre and, besides being an active river port, is an important railway junction.

Ústí nad Labem main station (Czech: Ústí nad Labem hlavní nádraží) is a railway station in the city of Ústí nad Labem in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. The station opened in 1850 and is located on the Praha–Ústí nad Labem–Děčín railway, Ústí nad Labem–Chomutov railway and Ústí nad Labem–Bílina railway. The train services are operated by České dráhy.

Mariánský most is a cantilever spar cable-stayed bridge for the road transport, bicycles and pedestrians in the city of Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic. It was opened in 1998 and is the third bridge in the city. It was designed by the architect Roman Koucký.

The Ústí nad Labem Half Marathon is an annual half marathon race which takes place in September in Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic. Known as the Mattoni Ústí Half Marathon, it is a part of RunCzech running circuit. The course winds through Ústí nad Labem city centre on both banks of Labe river and also through SPOLCHEMIE chemical plant. The inaugural edition of the event was held in 2011. In 2013, almost 3 000 runners participated in the race. The course records are held by Kenya's Barselius Kipyego and Peres Jepchirchir.

Ústí nad Labem Zoological Gardens is a zoo located on the edge of Krásné Březno, close to the centre of the city of Ústí nad Labem in the Czech Republic. The gardens cover an area of 26 ha (64 acres), and lets visitors view rare and endangered species of animals such as orangutans, Somali donkeys, rhinoceroses, and Malaysian sun bears. Open throughout the year, the gardens host regular displays—the training of sea lions, a parade of elephants through the gardens, flying display of birds of prey, rides on ponies, and a range of other activities. The zoo is a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA), the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), and the Union of Czech and Slovak Zoological Gardens (UCSZ). Both the upper gate (Dobětice) and the lower main gate (Krásné Březno) include ticket offices, but during the winter season the upper ticket office is closed.

Brná (German: Birnai), also known as Brná nad Labem to distinguish from other places with the same name, is an administrative part and residential area in Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic. It is located in landscape park České Středohoří on the right side of river Elbe. It is about 4 km far from Ústí nad Labem and its area is about 4.23 km². It's bounded on the north side by nature reserve Sluneční stráň and hill Vysoký Ostrý, on the south side by Němčický stream, on the west side by river Labe. The east border is not so distinct. Among border points there are hills Kamenný vrch, Skřivánčí vrch and Modřín. There is Průčelský stream in Brná nad Labem and elevation is between 170 and 700 meters above sea level.

Stebno (German: Stöben) is a municipality and village in Ústí nad Labem District in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 500 inhabitants. Stebno lies approximately 6 kilometres (4 mi) south of Ústí nad Labem and 66 km (41 mi) north-west of Prague.

Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (Czech: Univerzita Jana Evangelisty Purkyně v Ústí nad Labem, abbreviated as UJEP) is a public university in Ústí nad Labem in the Czech Republic. The institution was established on 28 September 1991. It bears the name of famous Czech scientist Jan Evangelista Purkyně who was born in nearby Libochovice. About 8,500 students are studying at the university. UJEP has around 900 employees.
