Lohsa station

Lohsa (German) or Łaz (Upper Sorbian, pronounced [ˈwas]) is a municipality in the district of Bautzen, in Saxony, in eastern Germany. The municipality is part of the recognized Sorbian settlement area in Saxony. Upper Sorbian has an official status next to German, all villages bear names in both languages.

Forst (Lausitz)/Baršć (Łužyca) (German: Bahnhof Forst (Lausitz), pronounced [ˈbaːnhoːf ˈfɔʁst ˈlaʊzɪts]; Lower Sorbian: Dwórnišćo Baršć (Łužyca)) is a border railway station located in Forst (Lausitz), Germany. The station is located on the Cottbus–Forst railway and the former Forst–Guben and Weißwasser–Forst railway lines. A few hundred meters east of the station the German Cottbus–Forst railway connects to Poland's Łódź Kaliska–Tuplice railway.

Lippitsch (German) or Lipič (Upper Sorbian) is a village in the administrative district of Bautzen, in northeastern Saxony, in eastern Germany. It belongs to Upper Lusatia and was an independent municipality until 1977, when it was absorbed by Milkel. In 1999, it became part of the municipality Radibor. The population is 185 (2011).The name comes from the Sorbian word, lipa for limetree. Lipič accordingly means place with a limetree. In 1875, the village had a population of 231, 90,9% Sorbian by ethnicity.

Knappensee (German) or Hórnikečanski jězor (Upper Sorbian) was a municipality in the northeastern part of Saxony, Germany, east of Hoyerswerda. It was formed in 1995 by the merger of the three municipalities Groß Särchen, Koblenz and Wartha, and was named after the lake Knappensee. In 2004 it was disbanded. Groß Särchen and Koblenz became parts of Lohsa, Wartha became a part of Königswartha.

Königswartha, in Sorbian Rakecy (pronounced [ˈʁakɛtsɨ]), is a municipality in the east of Saxony, Germany. It belongs to the district of Bautzen and lies 20 km north of the eponymous city. The municipality is part of the recognized Sorbian settlement area in Saxony. Upper Sorbian has an official status next to German, all villages bear names in both languages. "Rakecy" means "men of the crab" (rak being Sorbian for "crab"). The village was mentioned the first time in 1350.

The Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape (also ... District or ... Lake District, German: Oberlausitzer Heide- und Teichgebiet) is a natural region in Saxony. It runs from a line between Wittichenau and Kamenz for roughly 60 kilometres in an east-west direction as far as the River Neisse. Its width between the bordering natural regions of the Upper Lusatian Gefilde and Eastern Upper Lusatia to the south and the Muskau Heath and Upper Lusatian Mining Region to the north is between 15 and 20 kilometres. The landscape is a transition zone between the hilly southern part of Upper Lusatia and Lower Lusatia. Its central part takes in the Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape Biosphere Reserve, whose core zone is a nature reserve. The region is part of the Saalian glaciation meltwater valley or urstromtal. Valley sands close to the groundwater level at heights of between 130 and 150 metres alternate with stretches of valley bottom over 500 metres wide and only a few metres lower. Dry areas lie next to waterlogged or even boggy areas. Almost 10% of the area is made up of 335 ponds, which makes the Upper Lusatian Heath and Lake District the largest economically utilized pond region in Europe. Part of the original landscape was destroyed by the brown coal open-cast mine around the Boxberg Power Station, however the pits left behind have been flooded and now form a new part of the countryside. The potential natural vegetation (pnV) is birch and oak-pine woods, with alder and ash woods in the water meadows.

Uhyst (Upper Sorbian Delni Wujězd) was a municipality in the district Niederschlesischer Oberlausitzkreis, Saxony, Germany. Since 2007, it is part of Boxberg. It is located in Lusatia, and is officially bilingual (German and Upper Sorbian), as it is inhabited by the indigenous Sorbs.

The New Uhyst Castle (German: Neues Schloss Uhyst) is located on the northern edge of Uhyst town in the Saxony district of Görlitz, Germany. It is located near the Spree river flowing through the village and borders the Bärwalder See Landscape Park. The castle grounds have a Baroque garden and an English landscape park.

Struga is a river of Saxony, Germany in northern Upper Lusatia. It is a right tributary of the Spree, which it joins in Neustadt (Spree). It passes through the lignite mining region north of the Nochten opencast mine and is canalized for its whole length. Its basin is marked by past and present mining activities. The river is a principal landmark of the Schleife region, although it is locally considered only a stream.
