Leetown, Virginia

Jordan Springs is the name of an unincorporated community located approximately four miles from Winchester, Virginia. It was named after a plantation and resort developed here by the Jordan family, based on natural sulphur springs which had been known for centuries to local Native Americans. In 1800, the Jordan White Sulphur Springs resort was established here, as people believed the springs had healing properties. Generations of the Jordan family developed three hotels on the site. David Holmes, a five-term US Congressman from Virginia's 2nd congressional district, appointed governor of Mississippi Territory, and first elected governor of the state of Mississippi, came here in declining health, dying here in 1832.The historic Jordan Springs Hotel was built in 1893 at this location, building on the destination's appeal. Today it is located along Lick Run in Frederick County, Virginia, on Jordan Springs Road (VA 664) to the north of Devils Backbone. It followed two other hotels on the site, developed by the Jordan family. Competition with other sites and changing taste reduced its business. In 1953, the property was bought by the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity. They operated the property as a Catholic Monastery and Seminary. Faced with declining vocations, they leased the space to Shalom et Benedictus for a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. It operated until 1999.Today, the 48,000-square-foot (4,500 m2) historic building, known as the Historic Jordan Springs Event & Cultural Centre, is operated as a wedding, event, and conference center. It also provides business space to County Court Reporters. Cleridge, also known as Sunnyside Farm, is a historic home and farm complex located near Stephenson, in Frederick County, Virginia. The main house was built about 1790, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, five-bay, Federal style brick dwelling. It has a 2+1⁄2-story, four-bay, brick addition added in 1882–1883. Also on the property are the contributing brick well structure, the frame icehouse/blacksmith shop, a frame carriage house, the brick-entry, a frame poultry house, and a farm manager's house (c. 1815). The cultivated and forested land is considered a contributing agricultural site.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

High Banks, also known as the Helm-Clevenger House, is a historic home and farm located near Stephenson, Frederick County, Virginia. The house was built about 1753, and is a two-story, three bay by two bay, center-hall, double-pile, limestone dwelling. It has a one-story, two-bay by three-bay frame addition and a frame rear wing. The front porch and interior features detailing in the late Greek Revival were added about 1858. Also on the property are a contributing foundation and partial wall of a post-Civil War bank barn and an 18th-century icehouse pit, both made of stone.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

Brucetown is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in northern Frederick County, Virginia, United States. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 274. Brucetown lies at the intersection of Brucetown and Sir John Roads. A post office was established in the community in 1819. Brucetown also had its own school in operation from 1871 to 1941.

Stephenson is an unincorporated community in Frederick County, Virginia. Stephenson is located on U.S. Route 11 north of Winchester. High Banks, a historic home and farm dating from the mid-18th century, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

Burnt Factory is an unincorporated community in Frederick County, Virginia, United States. Burnt Factory lies to the northeast of Winchester along Opequon Creek. The community is centered at the intersection of Burnt Factory and Jordan Springs Roads.

Clear Brook is an unincorporated farming community in northern Frederick County, Virginia. The community lies approximately six miles (9.6 kilometers) north of the county seat of Winchester along Martinsburg Pike (U.S. Route 11). It is the site of the Kenilworth home, once owned by Harry K. Thaw, the old Hopewell Meeting House, Stonewall Elementary School, the Clearbrook Park, and the Frederick County Fairgrounds. Sometimes referred to as Clearbrook, its name was decided upon by the Board on Geographic Names in 1966 as Clear Brook. Clear Brook drew national attention when resident and Quaker peace activist Tom Fox was kidnapped in Baghdad on November 25, 2005. Fox's body was found March 9, 2006.

Abrams Creek is an 11.2-mile-long (18.0 km) tributary stream of Opequon Creek in Frederick County and the independent city of Winchester in Virginia. Abrams Creek rises north of Round Hill and flows in a southeasterly direction through Winchester. From Winchester, Abrams Creek flows east into Opequon Creek. The stream was originally known as Abraham's Creek.

Millbank, also known as Spout Spring and Hillwood, is a historic house at 3100 Berryville Pike, in Frederick County, Virginia east of the city of Winchester. The two story brick mansion was built c. 1850 by Isaac and Daniel T. Wood. It is one of the largest Greek Revival houses in the county, standing on a hill overlooking Berryville Pike and Opequon Creek, which flows east of the property. The house (vacant in 2014) has a typical I-house plan, with two entrances, one facing the highway and one the creek. Both were originally sheltered by Doric-columned porches, but the side entry's porch has been removed by vandals. The house was previously owned by the Winchester-Frederick Service Authority, who took the property in 1984 by eminent domain to construct the adjacent sewage treatment plant. It is now owned by The Fort Collier Civil War Center, Inc. (2014.) This nonprofit organization owns historic Fort Collier, another Third Battle of Winchester site. The house has a documented association with the American Civil War. The nearby crossing of Opequon Creek was at that time a ford, and it was in this area that the Third Battle of Winchester raged. Millbank is documented as having been the site of a Union Army field hospital during the battle.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Hopewell Friends Meeting House is an 18th-century Quaker meeting house located the northern Frederick County, Virginia one mile west of the community of Clear Brook at 604 Hopewell Road (formerly State Route 672). Clear Brook, VA 22624. This community was the home of Thomas William "Tom" Fox (1951–2006), a Quaker peace activist, affiliated with Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) murdered in 2006 in Iraq.

Valley Mill Farm, also known as Eddy's Mill, William Helm House, and Helm/Eddy House, is a historic home and farm located near Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia, USA. The house was built about 1820, and is a two-story, four-bay, Federal style dwelling with a gable roof. It has a 1+1⁄2-story wing dated to the mid-19th century. Also on the property are a contributing former two-story mill (c. 1820, now veterinary office), a frame two-story tenant house (c. 1890), a storage shed, and the ruins of two small, unidentified buildings.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
