WGVE-FM

The Gary Area Career Center is a career and technical education (CTE) school governed by the Gary Community School Corporation in Gary, Indiana, United States. The school opened in 1968 and was originally called the Gary Area Technical-Vocational School. Course offerings include classes focused on agriculture, aviation, automotive technology, criminal justice, health sciences, and radio and television production. WGVE-FM, an educational radio station, broadcasts from the school and is part of broadcast media training classes.

Martin Luther King Jr. Academy was a four-year (9–12) alternative high school of the Gary Community School Corporation in Gary, Indiana, United States. It closed in 2018.

The Ammons haunting case, also known as the Demon House, is an alleged haunting and demonic possession which occurred in Gary, Indiana in 2011. Latoya Ammons, her mother, Rosa Campbell, and her three children claimed paranormal activity occurred in the residence. The story was published in 2014 and received national attention.

Glen Park, also sometimes called University Park, is the most populous neighborhood in Gary, Indiana. It is situated on the city's far south side, south of the Little Calumet River and Borman Expressway. The neighborhood is often divided into Glen Park East and Glen Park West, on the respective sides of Broadway. Within Gary, Glen Park borders on Black Oak to the west and Midtown and Pulaski to the north; beyond Gary, it adjoins Hobart, Merrillville, and unincorporated Calumet Township. As of 2000, the neighborhood had a population of 25,454, approximately a third of Gary's total population. In terms of race, as of 2000 Glen Park was 86% African-American, 9% white, and 5.5% Hispanic.

Indiana University Northwest (IU Northwest or IUN) is a public university in Gary, Indiana. It is one of seven regional campuses of Indiana University and was established in 1963. The university enrolls approximately 3,500 degree-seeking traditional and non-traditional students along with 1,800 dual-credit students.

Jefferson Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Gary, Indiana. The district encompasses 81 contributing buildings in an exclusively residential section of Gary. They were largely built between 1922 and 1945, and many reflect the American Small House Movement. Architectural styles include examples of Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, Late Gothic Revival, Spanish Colonial Revival, and Bungalow / American Craftsman architecture.It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Liverpool was the original county seat of Lake County, Indiana, and one of the oldest towns in the area. Today, another settlement on the same site, named "Liverpool" after the former town, is a neighborhood of Lake Station, Indiana.

Morningside Historic District is a national historic district located at Gary, Indiana. The district is characterized by spacious lots and tree-shaded curving streets. It encompasses 99 contributing buildings and 1 contributing site. Morningside developed early in the 20th century as a secluded area for middle and upper class residents. Construction in the neighborhood spanned nearly 40 years – from 1917 to 1953 – creating an architectural collection ranging from English cottages and Tudor Revival style manors to post-war ranch houses. The area was named to the National Register of Historic Places by the Partners in Preservation program. Funded by local preservation advocate Jim Morrow, the program pays for professional preparation of National Register nominations for qualifying structures in Lake and Porter counties.It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Deep River is a river that flows 29.5 miles (47.5 km) northeast to the Little Calumet River in Lake County in northern Indiana in the United States. It is part of a fluvial system that drains about 10% of northern Indiana to Lake Michigan at Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor.

The Hobart Nature District is located in the City of Hobart, Indiana and includes over 1,000 acres (400 ha) of scenic parks, wetlands and floodplains, winding rivers, peaceful lakes, open prairies, oak savannas, old-growth forests, and undulating ravines.The name of the Hobart Nature District was officially established by resolution of the Common Council of the City of Hobart, Indiana on July 19, 2017, but the natural areas within the district have been in various states of accessibility and restoration for decades. The resolution by the City Council affirmed the phrase "Hobart Nature District" was the best way to refer to all of the areas contained within the Hobart Marsh Plan which was established by the city in 2013.The concept behind the Hobart Marsh Plan, which contains the areas now referred to as the Hobart Nature District, has been to capitalize on the extensive areas of native prairie, wetlands and woodlands creating a unique attraction for passive recreation enabling visitors the opportunity to experience local flora and fauna. The Hobart Marsh Plan has sought to connect numerous conservation lands managed by various local partner organizations. It also builds upon the growing regional bike trail network with the potential to become an eco-tourism destination, providing access to many other natural and cultural attractions in the region.The Hobart Marsh area has been cited as a critical habitat for nine state threatened or rare plant species, Blanding's turtle (state endangered), over 40 state endangered, threatened and rare insect species, four state endangered bird species, and five high quality natural communities.While the phrasing "Hobart Nature District" only became official as of 2017, following the amendment of the Comprehensive Plan for the City of Hobart to include the Hobart Marsh Plan in 2013, conservation efforts and the early steps toward establishment of natural areas within the district date back to as early as 1989 when official support first began to formulate for the preservation of these special places. That initial support led to the establishment of the "Hobart Prairie Grove" that was added to the National Park System as part of a 1992 expansion of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore (renamed the Indiana Dunes National Park in 2019).
