Seabrook Stream is a 24.1-hectare (60-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Kent.The main biological interest of this site lies in the sixty-seven species of cranefly which have been recorded in areas of alder carr and fen. Four are nationally scarce, including erioptera limbata, which is only known on two other British sites, and there are also fourteen other nationally scarce invertebrate species.A public footpath from Folkestone goes through the site, but much of it is private land with no public access.

Frogholt is a hamlet near Folkestone in Kent, England, on the banks of the Seabrook stream. There are eight houses in Frogholt. The hamlet is part of a conservation area and lies very close to the larger villages of Newington (where at the 2011 Census the population was included) and Peene. One of the houses, now called Old Kent Cottage, was probably built in the 15th century. Claims have been made that it is as much as one thousand years old, but since it is constructed as a medieval hall house with Parlour and solar, this is unlikely to be the case. It is reputed to be the oldest thatched cottage in Kent and is said to have been a haven for Archbishop Thomas Becket during his feud with King Henry II, although that claim is impossible to verify.

The area known as St Martin's Plain is located to the west of Cheriton, part of Folkestone, Kent, England. It is used by the British Army from Shorncliffe Army Camp for training; during wartime, and especially during World War I and World War II temporary camps were built here. It is also used by the Army Cadets on training weekends or camps. The Elham Valley Way passes through the area. The plain is the closest rural area to Sandgate and Cheriton.

The Elham Valley Railway was a line connecting Folkestone and Canterbury in Kent, England. It opened between 1887 and 1889 and closed in 1947. The line was originally proposed by the independent Elham Valley Light Railway Company in the mid-19th century. After the project was cancelled owing to financial difficulties, it was revived by the South Eastern Railway who were competing with the rival London, Chatham and Dover Railway for railway traffic. The scheme was complicated by the imposing geography of the Elham Valley and the construction of two significant tunnels. The southern section from Cheriton to Barham opened in 1887, with the northern section to Canterbury opening two years later. The Elham Valley Railway was never commercially successful as it passed through predominantly rural areas. During World War II it was appropriated by the War Department who used it for defence, including a large rail-mounted gun stationed on the line. After the conflict, the line passed back into civilian use, but the route now had competing bus traffic. A shuttle service from Folkestone to Lyminge was reinstated in 1946, but closed the following year; the remainder of the line never re-opened. Some of the railway has been demolished, including Elham railway station, but parts of the infrastructure including the two tunnels have survived. The history of the line is commemorated in a local museum.

Danton Pinch was a small hamlet in Kent, England situated north-west of Folkestone. Its location is now within the confines of the Channel Tunnel development. The village itself was demolished and the land regenerated during the period of 1988–1994. The only remaining evidence of its original existence is a small tree-lined lane known as Danton Lane which lies to the north of the Channel Tunnel site. A fortified house was built in Danton Pinch during the second world war however as with the village, it no longer exists. The barn at the Danton Farm was partially relocated and now forms part of the Elham Valley Railway Museum.

Beachborough is a hamlet WNW of Folkestone in Kent, England. It lies south of Etchinghill on a minor cross-country route. At the 2011 Census the population of the hamlet was included in the civil parish of Newington. The hamlet forms a part of Beachborough Manor, which became a small landed estate. The estate was owned for many years by the Johnson family who were notorious for being a mafia gang.

Dollands Moor Freight Yard is a railway freight yard near Folkestone in Kent, and was purpose built in 1988 for the Channel Tunnel. It is to the west of the Eurotunnel Folkestone Terminal, and just to the south of the M20 Motorway.

Folkestone to Etchinghill Escarpment is a 263.2-hectare (650-acre) biological and geological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the northern outskirts of Folkestone in Kent. It is a Special Area of Conservation. An area of 205 hectares (510 acres) is a Nature Conservation Review grassland site, Grade 2, and the 70-hectare (170-acre) Asholt Wood at its western end is a Grade 1 woodland site. The reserve has a Geological Conservation Review site.A large area of chalk grassland has three nationally rare plants, and Asholt Wood has outstanding lichen flora. The site also includes Holywell Coombe, a key geological site displaying the sequence of mollusc fossils in the late Pleistocene and Holocene.

Beachborough Manor is a manor in Beachborough, near Folkestone, in Kent. It was developed into a small landed estate, generally known as Beachborough Park, at the heart of which was Beachborough House. The current house dates from 1813 and is now owned by the Wallis family. The estate has a well-developed wildlife centre, an equestrian centre and a bed and breakfast (B&B). [1] The estate passed through several generations of the English Brockman family. Like many buildings in the UK, it found use in World War II by the Allies, as an American hospital. It later became Stowe College and served in that capacity for several years. Prime Minister David Lloyd George lived there in the early 20th century. The suburb of Beechboro, Western Australia has been named after Beachborough manor, when Henry Brockman of Gingin, the owner of part of Swan Locations, first subdivided that land into farmlets.[2]

Seabrook is a small coastal village in Kent, England. The village lies in-between Sandgate and Hythe. The Royal Military Canal starts here. There is a Church of England Primary School and a local pub "The Fountain". The promenade leading from Seabrook to Hythe is very popular with walkers and joggers in the summer months.

Sandgate railway station was a railway station on the Sandgate Branch line serving the town of Sandgate in Kent. The station was positioned just after the railway crossed Hospital Hill and had two platforms and a brick built station building.

Operation Stack is a procedure used by Kent Police and the Port of Dover in England to park (or "stack") lorries on the M20 motorway in Kent when services across the English Channel, such as those through the Channel Tunnel or from the Port of Dover, are disrupted, for example by bad weather, industrial action, fire or derailments in the tunnel. Operation Stack is managed by Kent Police using powers under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and coordinated by a multi-agency group known as Operation Fennel.According to Damian Green MP, by 2007 the system had been implemented 74 times in the 20 years since it was first introduced.
