The Albany Welcome Center, formerly known as the Bridge House, is a historic residential building in Albany, Georgia. It was designed by African American architect and engineer Horace King and built in 1858. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 19, 1974. It is located at 112 North Front Street. Born into slavery, King was granted special rights by the Alabama Legislature in 1858 and was a successful engineer and architect of bridges in the American South. Colonel Nelson Tift hired him in 1858 to build a covered bridge across the Flint River at Albany and King's design included an adjoining Bridge House that served as a gateway to the city. The home's cellars were used during the American Civil War for a meat packing operation to feed Confederate soldiers, and ground were used as for the slaughter of thousands of cows, hogs and sheep that were pickled in barrels. On the second floor is a room known as "Tift's Hall" that was made into a theater. It was described as the social center of Albany. Tift hired artists from New York to decorate the hall's walls and ceilings with ornate frescoes. The room was used to host actors, hold dances, stage plays, and was also used for Ku Klux Klan meetings. In 1887, Nelson Tift sold his bridge rights to Dougherty County, which later built a new bridge south of the Bridge House. The building was home for several decades to an auto parts store, and following the Flood of 1994, was purchased by Dougherty County as part of downtown Albany's redevelopment. The Bridge House was meticulously restored under the direction of David Maschke, a local architect, and reopened as the Albany Welcome Center in August 2008.

The Rosenberg Brothers Department Store building is located in downtown Albany, Georgia, USA. The three-story brick structure was built in 1924 in an Italianate/Neo-Renaissance Classical Revival style by J.C. Hind and J. T. Murphy. Jacob Rosenberg was a Jewish merchant who leased a store at this prominent corner lot in 1896. The site was owned by the Tift family, who founded Albany. Rosenberg had a new department store building constructed on the site in 1923 in a Second Renaissance Revival architecture style. It continued in business until 1978 when a second Rosenberg's location opened within the, then new, Albany Mall in 1976. Gray Communications bought and renovated the building in 1985 for $850,000 (~$2.05 million in 2023) to house the Albany Herald. The building, and several nearby buildings, were sold to the city of Albany for $850,000. The Herald, which occupied the building for more than three decades, moved out in December 2019.

The Dougherty County School System is the school district in Dougherty County, Georgia, United States (county seat Albany, Georgia). A total of 16,844 students attend 14 elementary schools, four middle schools, three high schools, and one alternative school. The system is governed by a seven-member school board and an administrative staff. The school board consists of six members elected from geographical school districts and one at-large member. The administrative staff consists of Superintendent Kenneth Dyer.

The St. Nicholas Hotel in Albany, Georgia, at 141 Flint Ave. or 300-310 Washington St., was built in 1908. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. It was designed by architects Bruce & Everett (a partnership of Alexander C. Bruce and Alexander F. N. Everett) in Early Commercial style. It has also been known as the Lee Hotel. It originally had a canopy at the front, but this was lost in a tornado on February 10, 1940, and not replaced. The hotel was severely damaged in the tornado, was rebuilt and reopened in 1941 as the Lee Hotel. It was the birthplace of bandleader Harry James in 1916.

Albany Transitional Center is located in Albany, Georgia in Dougherty County, Georgia. The facility houses 150 adult male felons, it was constructed in 1906. It was renovated in 1990 and re-opened in 1991. It is a minimum-security prison.

The Davis–Exchange Bank Building is a historic building in Albany, Georgia. It was built during 1919–21 with six stories, making it the tallest building in Albany upon its completion. It is an example of Beaux Arts architecture and was designed by J.E.R. Carpenter of Tennessee. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 23, 1984. It is located at 100-102 North Washington Street. The building was built for the Albany Exchange Bank as a replacement for its original building, which had burned down.

Thronateeska Heritage Center is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization incorporated in 1974 for the purpose of historic preservation and science education in Southwest Georgia. Thronateeska is located at Heritage Plaza, the 100 block of West Roosevelt Avenue in Albany, Georgia, United States. Thronateeska's campus includes a history museum, science museum, rail car display, and a 40' full dome HD planetarium system, the first in the world of its kind. The museum facilities are housed in historic structures and new construction designed to reflect and retain the railroad heritage of the area. Thronateeska has an archives and collections department, which catalogues, stores, and cares for all of the collections at Thronateeska, and is open to the public for research purposes.

Albany Railroad Depot Historic District (also known as Heritage Plaza) is located at the 100 block of West Roosevelt Avenue in Albany, Georgia, United States, and is governed by the Thronateeska Heritage Center, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization incorporated in 1974 for the purpose of historic preservation and science education in Southwest Georgia. The Heritage Plaza includes the Tift Warehouse (constructed in 1857), the Union Station depot (constructed in 1913), the Railway Express Agency building and Albany's last remaining brick street and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

New Albany Hotel is a historic hotel in Albany, Georgia added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It is now being used as an apartment complex known as The Flats @ 249. It was previously being used as a senior living facility known as Albany Heights. It is located at 249 Pine Avenue. Sam Farkas, a World War II hero, was the hotel's manager. Built in 1925, it a six-story Georgian Revival-style building. It is constructed of terra cotta blocks dressed with brick, upon a concrete and steel frame. Tapestry brick, in Flemish bond, sheathes the first five floors; Dutch Cross bond brick veneer sheathes the sixth floor. It was designed by Atlanta architect Raymond C. Snow. It was deemed significant as "a good example of the early-twentieth century Georgian Revival-style commercial buildings found in small Georgia cities and as one of several Georgian Revival-style buildings built in Albany during this period. In terms of commerce, the hotel is significant as one of two major hotels built in Albany during the 1920's to accommodate travel needs generated by the railroads. In terms of local history, the hotel was a center of Albany social life during the 1920's and 1930's."

The Nelson Tift Building, also known as the Goodwill Building or Albany Housefurnishing Company, is a historic four-story commercial building in Albany, Georgia, United States. It was built in 1922 specifically to display furniture. Located at 226 West Broad Avenue, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 17, 1982.(wrong link) It is named for the founder of Albany, Nelson Tift.

Veterans Park Amphitheater is a 2,500-seat amphitheater located in Albany, Georgia. It is part of a sports, entertainment and convention complex that also includes the Albany Civic Center and Albany Municipal Auditorium. From its opening in the mid 1980s into the mid 1990s, the amphitheater was an anchor for two major annual events in Albany; River Days in the spring and Fall on the Flint. It is now primarily used for concerts and Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day celebrations.

The Albany Municipal Auditorium is a multi-purpose auditorium located in downtown Albany, Georgia, U.S. The 965-seat, classic style auditorium includes an orchestra level, as well as first and second balconies and it was listed as "Municipal Auditorium" on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior in 1975. The auditorium is part of a sports, entertainment and convention complex that also includes the Albany Civic Center and the Veterans Park Amphitheater.
