The Wittenburgervaart is a short canal in Amsterdam, between the Oostelijke Eilanden (Eastern Islands).

Brouwerij 't IJ (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌbrʌuʋəˈrɛi ət ɛi]; English: The IJ Brewery) is a small brewery in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is located in a former bath house named Funen, next to the De Gooyer windmill. The brewery was opened by Kaspar Peterson, a former musician, in October 1985 and was one of several small breweries that opened in cities around the Netherlands in response to consumers' dissatisfaction with beer brewed by the larger companies. It brews twelve standard beers and three seasonal beers, besides limited edition beers.The brewery allows tours and tastings, and has a pub with an outdoor terrace. It opens from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. but no later, owing to local residents' objections to the noise. It brews in the pub basement and in a building in the nearby Zeeburgerpad. In 2019 it opened a second bar in the Blauwe Theehuis in the Vondelpark. The brewery's logo features an ostrich, with an egg, and a distant windmill. The brewery is named after the nearby IJ waterbody.

De Gooyer is a windmill in Amsterdam located between Funenkade and Zeeburgerstraat. It is the tallest wooden mill in the Netherlands at 26.6 meters high. It is registered as a National Monument The names dates from the around 1609, when the mill was owned by Claes and Jan Willemsz, two brothers from Gooiland. It is also known as "The Funenmolen" ("The Mill on the Funen"). The Gooyer consists of a stone foundation topped by a wooden octagonal body. The mill is owned by the municipality of Amsterdam and is not open to visitors. Although the blades are functional, they no longer operate any grinding mechanism.Next to the mill, in the former municipal bathhouse dating back to 1911, is the Brouwerij 't IJ. The mill and the bathhouse building are unrelated, and the mill fulfils no function for the brewery despite the image of a mill being in the brewery logo.

The Nieuwe Vaart or Nieuwevaart is a 17th-century canal in Amsterdam that runs from the center to Amsterdam-Oost (Amsterdam East). Kromhout Museum is located on the Nieuwe Vaart. On this site, the Westkap is still used as a shipyard, but the Oosthal is furnished as a museum. The Oosterkerk is also on the Nieuwe Vaart.

Oostelijke Eilanden (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌoːstələkə ˈʔɛilɑndə(n)]; lit. Eastern Islands), also known as Oostelijke Eilanden en Kadijken (Eastern Islands and Quays), is a neighbourhood in the centre of Amsterdam, Netherlands, consisting of Kattenburg, Wittenburg and Oostenburg.

The Mezrab is a cultural center in Amsterdam focussed on storytelling and multidisciplinary performing arts. In 2020 the center won the Amsterdamprijs voor de Kunst for Best Achievements. Next to storytelling it is a podium for music, dance, comedy, and a storytelling school.

The Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) is an intergovernmental financial institution established within the framework of the United Nations. It is a vestige of the proposed New International Economic Order. The CFC finances commodity development projects in developing states. The CFC was established in 1989. It was set up by a 1980 multilateral treaty known as the Agreement establishing the Common Fund for Commodities. As of June 2017, there are 110 parties to the Agreement and thus to the CFC. This total includes 101 UN member states plus 9 intergovernmental organizations: the Andean Community, the African Union, the Caribbean Community, the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, the East African Community, the European Union, the Economic Community of West African States, the Southern African Development Community and the West African Economic and Monetary Union. Members that have joined but then withdrawn from the CFC include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Turkey, and the Eurasian Economic Community. The United States of America has not been a member of the fund.

The Eastern Docklands (Dutch: Oostelijk Havengebied) is a neighborhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands, located between the IJ and the Amsterdam–Rhine Canal in the borough of Amsterdam-Oost. The harbor area was constructed in the late nineteenth century to allow for increasing trade with the Dutch East Indies; a new location was necessitated by the construction of the Amsterdam Centraal railway station, which replaced the old quays. East of the new station was a marshy area called De Rietlanden, with the Zeeburgerdijk (then called Sint Antoniesdijk), running via the Zeeburch, a fort, to the Zuiderzee. The neighborhood consists of the districts: KNSM Island, Java-eiland, Oostelijke Handelskade, Cruquiuseiland, Borneo-eiland and Sporenburg.The area, about 2/3 water and 1/3 land, consists of an extension of the Oostelijke Handelskade, east of the center of town, and four artificial "islands" (peninsulas), all of which were former industrial and harbor locations of the port of Amsterdam. In the early 2000s, after a large-scale reorganization, the city's biggest post-World War II building project, the Eastern Docklands was de-industrialized and became home to some 17,000 people living in some the highest population densities in the Netherlands.

The Kattenburgervaart is a short canal in Amsterdam that runs through the Oostelijke Eilanden (Eastern Islands). The canal separates the island of Wittenburg, which was built in the 17th century, from the island of Kattenburg. The Kattenburgervaart runs parallel to the Wittenburgervaart (to the east) from the Nieuwe Vaart to the Dijksgracht.

The Dappermarkt is a market on Dapperstraat in Amsterdam-East and is one of the busiest markets of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In 1910, the Dapperstraat was officially designated by the municipality of Amsterdam as a market street. The Dappermarkt draws visitors from all over the Netherlands. There are many products of interest to the city's residents of Surinamese, Antillean, Turkish, and Moroccan origin, giving the market and the surrounding neighbourhood a strong multicultural feel. National Geographic mentioned the Dappermarkt in its edition of November/December 2007. They called the Dappermarkt one of the top ten stands of shopping streets in the world.
