The Fry Bread House is a restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona, serving fry bread, a Native American dish of dough fried in lard, Crisco, or oil, which the restaurant serves with various toppings or fillings. Exact recipes and ingredients vary but those typical of frybread are flour, salt, and lard, reflecting the commodities doled out on the reservations by the U.S. federal government.The Fry Bread House was opened in 1992 by Cecilia Miller, a member of the Tohono O'odham Nation of Native Americans. In 2012, it was recognized by the James Beard Foundation as an American Classic. As of 2012 it was one of only five restaurants, and the first Native American restaurant, in the United States to win the James Beard American Classics award. Miller died in 2020 at age 81 and passed the restaurant to her children.

The Rhodes UFO photos, sometimes called the shoe-heel UFO photos, are two photos that were reportedly taken on July 7, 1947 by amateur astronomer and inventor William Albert Rhodes. The photographs purport to show a disc-like object flying above Phoenix, Arizona. Rhodes's account and photographs were published by the Arizona Republic on July 9.The photos were included in original saucer witness Kenneth Arnold's 1952 book The Coming of the Saucers, and they were reprinted multiple times by magazine editor and early UFO conspiracy theorist Raymond Palmer. Coming just weeks after the Kenneth Arnold report, the Rhodes photographs were among the very first purported UFO photographs. The photographs continue to be discussed in the media into the 21st century. Air Force files categorized the Rhodes Photos as a "possible hoax".

The Phoenix Indian School, or Phoenix Indian High School in its later years, was a Bureau of Indian Affairs-operated school in Encanto Village, in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona. It served lower grades also from 1891 to 1935, and then served as a high school thereafter. It opened in 1891 and closed in 1990 on the orders of the federal government. During its existence, it was the only non-reservation BIA school in Arizona. The Phoenix Indian School Historic District, a three-acre (1.2 ha) portion of the 160-acre (65 ha) campus that contains some of the most historic buildings, became part of the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

On July 27, 2007, two AS-350 AStar helicopters from television stations KNXV-TV and KTVK collided in mid-air over Phoenix, Arizona, while covering a police pursuit. On board the two aircraft were four people in total – pilot Craig Smith and photographer Rick Krolak from KNXV-TV, and pilot Scott Bowerbank and photographer Jim Cox from KTVK – all of whom were killed, while no casualties were reported on the ground.

Steele Indian School Park Pond is a lake located in Steele Indian School Park in Phoenix, east of Central Avenue and north of Indian School Road.

The Central Avenue Corridor is a significant stretch of north–south Central Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona. Roughly bounded by Camelback Road to its north, and McDowell Road to its south, this is one of Phoenix's most vital and heavily trafficked stretches of roads. It is also one of the region's largest centers of employment, with nearly 60,000 people being employed within a three-mile (5 km) radius of this swath of Central Avenue. Major employers here include major banks and financial institutions, hi-tech companies, and several significant law firms and government agencies. This corridor bisects a larger area known as Midtown, Phoenix—the collection of neighborhoods north of downtown, and south of the North-Central and Sunnyslope areas. Phoenix Country Club is a country club in the southwestern United States, located in Phoenix, Arizona. The club was founded 123 years ago in 1899 and was moved to its current location in 1921. Golf Connoisseur Magazine rated Phoenix Country Club among top 100 Most Prestigious Private Clubs in America in 2006. The club was chosen for the “ultimate mix of course, history, membership, tradition and class.” In 2009 and 2014, PCC was selected by its peers as a Platinum Club of America. The original golf course designed by Harry Collis was redesigned by Tom Lehman and John Fought in 2002.

The Charles Schwab Cup Championship is the final event of the season on the U.S.-based PGA Tour Champions, the world's leading golf tour for male professionals aged 50 and above. Played in late October or early November each year, it is PGA Tour Champions' equivalent of the PGA Tour's Tour Championship, and was formerly known as the Senior Tour Championship. Like the Tour Championship, it has a small field (30 from 1990 through 2015, and 36 from 2016 forward) and no half-way cut. Through 2015, the top 30 money winners made up the field. Since 2016, 36 golfers have competed, and the event is the final stage of a three-tournament playoff similar to that used by the regular PGA Tour for its FedEx Cup. Through 2015, the tournament had another distinction that made it unique on PGA Tour Champions – it was the only event, other than the tour's five majors, contested over four rounds. In 2016 and 2017, it returned to being held over three rounds. In 2018, it returns to being held over four rounds. Since 2013, the purse has been $2,500,000, with $440,000 going to the winner.

Indian School/Central Avenue (also known as Steele Indian School Park) is a station on the Metro light rail line in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. It is the sixth stop southbound and the twenty-third stop northbound on the initial 20 mile starter line.

The Phoenix Financial Center consists of a high-rise office building and two adjacent rotunda buildings located along Central Avenue in the Midtown district of Phoenix, Arizona, United States. They were built in 1963 by the Financial Corporation of Arizona. Ground was broken for the facility in September 1963, and the complex was dedicated for opening on September 28, 1964.The tower fronts Osborn Avenue and is commonly referred to locally as the "Punchcard Building," due to aesthetic similarities between the building's southeastern facade and a computer punch card. Originally, the main tower consisted only of 10 stories; the extra nine were added in 1972. The design included provisions for erecting a second tower that was a mirror image of the first on the north side of the property, but was never built (this area is currently a visitor parking lot). At that time, the building became the headquarters for Western Savings and Loan. The two rotundas front Central Avenue and are mirror images of each other. They consist of two stories and a basement, and utilize glass around most of the circumference. Each has a stained glass star at the top of the dome of slightly different designs. The Phoenix Financial Center is an example of International style architecture, featuring many elements of Googie design. The architect of the building is Wenceslaus Sarmiento. The building is said to be the site of a "fallout-proof" time capsule which was set to be opened in 2012, but the capsule has never been found.The complex is located close to the Park Central station of METRO Light Rail, which contains displays detailing the history of the Phoenix Financial Center as well as other buildings in the area. Phoenix Financial Center served as a filming location for the movie What Planet Are You From? which was released in 2000 and directed by Mike Nichols. The film was co-written by, and starred Garry Shandling who grew up in Tucson. The film also featured Ben Kingsley, Annette Bening, John Goodman and Greg Kinnear. Phoenix Financial Center is used as the building where the main character is employed and is featured prominently in many scenes of the film. Phoenix Financial Center can also be seen briefly in the opening flyover scene of 2016's Bad Santa 2, starring Billy Bob Thornton.
