Wilhelmsburg, Hamburg

Wilhelmsburg station is a rapid transit station on the Harburg S-Bahn line and is served by trains on the Hamburg S-Bahn network. The railway station is located in the quarter Wilhelmsburg in the Hamburg-Mitte borough of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Germany. Wilhelmsburg station is listed as a Bf (Bahnhof) (rail station), a place where trains may start, end or change directions, and that has at least one set of points. The station is managed by DB Station&Service, a subsiary of German railway company Deutsche Bahn AG.

The Edel-optics.de Arena (known until May 2017 as Inselparkhalle) is a multi-function sports facility in the Wilhelmsburg district of Hamburg with a sports hall and a swimming pool. The hall is the home venue of the second division basketball team Hamburg Towers. It is owned by the Benno and Inge Behrens Foundation, and operated by the InselAkademie Sport- und Schulungszentrum Wilhelmsburg GmbH.

Elbinsel Museum is a museum in Kirchdorf Süd, Wilhelmsburg, Hamburg, Germany. The museum was founded in 1907 by a local history group. The first collections were exhibited in a room of the local city hall that was built in 1903. At that time many industrial enterprises were established the area near the port of Hamburg. Farmhouses and cottages had to give way to provide housing for factory employees. This left large amounts of furniture and antiques behind. It enabled the local history group to hold valuable old pieces and preserve them for posterity, but the one room storage area at the local City Hall where the items were stored was soon filled to the brim. Finding numerous other places to hold the ever-growing collection proved to be unsuccessful, in 1942 it moved into its final destination which were on the premises of the old administrative building in Kirchdorf, where it has enjoyed great popularity for the last 50 years. The museum participates at the event Long Night of Museums in Hamburg.

The Hamburg Metropolitan Region (German: Metropolregion Hamburg) is a metropolitan area centred around the city of Hamburg in northern Germany, consisting of eight districts (Landkreise) in the federal state of Lower Saxony, six districts (Kreise) in the state of Schleswig-Holstein and two districts in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern along with the city-state of Hamburg itself. BallinStadt (German pronunciation: [baːliːnʃtat]) is the name given to a memorial park and former emigration station in the Port of Hamburg, Germany. From the 1850s to the early 1930s the ground's emigration halls were last homestead for some five million emigrants from various parts of Europe, waiting for their departure to the Americas. The BallinStadt museum was opened in 2007 and named after Albert Ballin (1857–1918), then director General of the Hamburg America Line. The site is also marketed as the "Emigration Museum" or "Port of Dreams".Originally built in 1901, the site's Swiss chalet style quarters provided shelter, lodging and/or entertainment for the emigrants. In 1934 the station was closed and demolished by the Nazis, but rebuilt true to original in the early 2000s. Today, the emigration halls (German: Auswandererhallen) accommodate an exhibition related to the emigrants, their living conditions and experiences during their journeys to and from Hamburg. The city of Hamburg decided to build the BallinStadt emigration world in December 2004, based on an overall concept developed by the Hamburg Maritim Foundation.

The station is listed as a Halt point (Haltepunkt), a passenger stop situated on an open stretch of line, and lacking specific signals.

Veddel (German pronunciation ) is a quarter (Stadtteil) in the Hamburg-Mitte borough of the Free and Hanseatic city of Hamburg on the homonymous island in the Elbe river, in northern Germany. In 2020, the population was 4,356.

Dessauer Ufer was a subcamp of the Neuengamme concentration camp in Nazi Germany, located inside the Port of Hamburg on the Kleiner Grasbrook in Veddel. It was in operation from July 1944 to April 1945. Inmates were mostly used for forced labour at rubble clearing and building in the Hamburg port area.

The German Port Museum (Deutsches Hafenmuseum) is a nautical museum in Hamburg. The German Federal Parliament's budget committee approved initial funding of €94 million to rebuild it.

Moldauhafen is a lot in the port of Hamburg, Germany that Czechoslovakia acquired on a 99-year lease in 1929 pursuant to the Treaty of Versailles. In 1993, the Czech Republic succeeded to the rights of Czechoslovakia. The lease will expire in 2028. The lot (the name of which is German for "Vltava port") gives the Czech Republic access to the sea via the Vltava and Elbe rivers. Previously, a similar arrangement existed for the port of Stettin, now Szczecin, Poland. The lot is one of three over which the Czech Republic has rights. The other two are Saalehafen and Peutehafen. Saalehafen comes under the Versailles Treaty but then-Czechoslovakia purchased Peutehafen in 1929. Both Moldauhafen and Saalehafen are part of the Hamburg free port, and sit on the embankment of Dresdner Ufer and Hallesches Ufer. The area comprises about 28,500 square metres (306,771 sq ft). The leased premises constitute a duty-free zone that were called the Czecho-Slovak rental zone for inland navigation in the free port of Hamburg. Peutehafen comprises an area of about 13,500 square metres (145,313 sq ft). It lies on the narrow peninsula between the Peutekanal and the Peutehafen dock, and is just outside the Hamburg free port.

MS Bleichen is a museum ship in the port of Hamburg, which has its berth in the Hansa port on Bremer Kai in front of Shed 50. The ship, built in 1958, is a breakbulk cargo carrier of its time and is located in front of the listed general cargo storage shed used by the port museum.
